Day in the Life of a ROWER & My FINAL Rowing Regatta EVER!? | VLOG

In this vlog, Julia (Speaker A) shares a detailed look at her daily life as a collegiate rower, beginning with a 4:21 am wake‑up and the steps she takes to get ready for early morning rowing practice, including her alarm routine, scrolling Instagram, and pre‑packed meals. She explains the importance of the team carpool for getting to the training facility and shows what she packs for lunch, emphasizing a carb‑heavy diet. Julia then discusses her training regimen: daily rowing practice, strength workouts with teammate Toda, and erg sessions. She introduces the book The Boys in the Boat, describing how it sparked her renewed interest in reading and connects its story to her own rowing passion. Breakfast preparation is shown, featuring creative food combos like cottage cheese with jam on a waffle. The vlog shifts to packing for an upcoming regatta: a duffel bag, backpack, travel timeline (bus at 5 am, departure at 3:20 am, race at 9:15 am), and a quick pre‑bed run despite it being a rest day. Throughout, Julia expresses nervous excitement about the race, offers encouragement to teammate Ahmed, and includes light‑hearted moments about camera use, photobombing, and spontaneous chants. The video blends practical rowing lifestyle details with personal reflections and vlog‑style banter.

Hello everyone, good morning! So it is a morning, it is 4:21. I woke up at 4 today. This is like my second time recording this, that's why it's a little bit later. But yeah, I woke up at 4 today because that's my— that's how, how early I wake up for rowing. As soon as I wake up, I have to turn off my alarm. I have to turn it— like, I have to get up and turn it off. So I, I get up, I turn it off. Thing that I do to help me wake up is I go on my phone and I just scroll through, through social media, through Instagram. I know it's like really— it's not, it's not good, but that's what works for me. I I pack everything the night before so that I have— I don't have to like worry about packing the morning of. So I'm all ready.
I have like—
all I have to do is just like quickly pack my lunch because I'm gonna be on campus all day. I'll just wait for my carpool to arrive. So luckily with rowing we have carpools because I would never have been able to get to the training area if it wasn't for a carpool. He wants to go outside. Buddy, buddy. Prestige, prestige. Yeah, you're right, you're right. Prestige, baby. Hey guys, I'm in the kitchen right now and this is what I'm going to be packing for lunch for school. I'm just going to have a bagel with cream cheese that I made the night before. And then I'm bringing this granola bar and these cheese crisps. Usually I'd have a lot more, but I'm actually thinking of buying some food on campus. I'm only on campus like a few days a week and I only like— I try to only buy food once. So I'm gonna buy like just like a bowl, maybe a rice bowl or a sandwich there. So yeah, I'm not gonna pack a lot. Usually I am not hungry in the morning. Usually I don't eat anything. I know it's probably better, but yeah, most of the time I don't eat anything. But today I'm actually feeling a little bit more hungry, so I'm just gonna have a banana. But these bananas are pretty large, so I'm just gonna have half of it, this much, and I'll save this for, for later. Ever since I've started rowing, I've been having so much more carbs. Like, I just— my, my diet is literally all carb-based. So yeah, now I'm just gonna wait for the carpool. It is 4:46, and yeah. We're on time, we're on time. We got everything ready. Okay, so I have my jacket on and then I have my bag right here, and then this bag, and then my running shoes because I'm wearing sandals. Okay, so now We're going to go outside and wait for the carpool. It's going to show up in like around 3 minutes, but I'm not going to bring my phone— my camera, cuz it's too big. So I'm going to transition to the phone.
Up to who I could only hope to be. If we had the conversation and know exactly what he'd say to me, what he'd say to me, he would say, you'll be all right if you know when to turn some. You'll lose this fight if you don't ever learn some. Keep it in balance and always know you can only get higher if you've been low.
Hi everyone, so I didn't end up finishing the vlog yesterday. It's the very next day and today is the day where I'm gonna be packing for the regatta because we're leaving tomorrow bright and early. The bus leaves at 5 AM, so yeah, today all day I'm gonna be packing and then in between I'm also gonna be just finishing some stuff for school so I don't have to worry about doing a lot of school or like hopefully no like school during the regatta. But I actually, so I want to touch a little bit about like my workouts and how that is going, looking like outside of rowing. So practice rowing with the team every single morning. Then I like to do my own workouts. Well, there's like also other workouts we have to do, like strength training workouts, and I do those workouts like after rowing practice with one of my friends, Toda. He's a part of the rowing team as well, and we just do like the workouts together. It's super, super fun. And yeah, I like working out with him, and then we, we do like weights, and then we also erg on, um, together. And then, so yeah, I just finished with like that weight workout, and that was really great. And I'm back home now, and I'm going to be making some breakfast. But before that, I want to share a book that I've been reading. So I'm trying to go back into reading slowly, and I feel like What a great way then to start reading a book that is around a passion of yours, which like my new passion is rowing. So I've been reading The Boys in the Boat. I just— this— how I found out about this book, pretty much I saw on Instagram that there was a trailer for The Boys in the Boat movie coming out this Christmas. And then in the trailer it said that there's a bestselling book So I was like, oh my gosh, I am obsessed with rowing and I wanna like start reading again. So I got this book from the library and I'm reading it right now. I'm on page, I'm on pretty much like 100 pages already, which is pretty impressive. It's really interesting. I do wanna say like it's a little bit slow at the beginning, but if you stick it through, like it gets more interesting. I still haven't gotten the chance. Right now they're like the crew, so it's like, It's the 8 boat, men's 8, and they're all freshmen, but they're like really, they're like pretty good. If you love rowing or if you want to learn more about rowing, then I would recommend you guys read this book because I feel like this book is really going to help me with my own like rowing skills. So yeah, anyways, enough of talking of this, let's go have breakfast now. Hi guys, so I just finished making my breakfast. So I have 2 Eggo waffles, one with peanut butter and then some honey. Usually I like to add banana on the top, but I didn't have any bananas. And then this one is a very interesting new combination I found out about. You take cottage cheese and then jam. I love cottage cheese so much, so hopefully this is good. Actually, let's just— oh, then I have coffee a little bit. Let's actually test. Let's test both. I tried this combination on toast like a week ago or something, and it's not the same. Like, it's— this is actually better. Having it with like a waffle is so much better. Okay, so yeah, this is my breakfast, and let's just eat up. Hey guys, so it is 7 PM, and I just finished packing. Let me show you. So I have this duffel bag right here that I'm gonna be bringing with all my clothes, and then I have this backpack right here. We're gonna be staying at the Regatta for 1 night and 2 days, so just make sure I like have everything I need. I'm gonna go to bed like at 8, at 8 PM, so in an hour, because tomorrow we're gonna be waking up at— I'm gonna be waking up at 3:20 so that I can leave my house by 4 AM, and then I'm gonna go drive to campus with my dad, and then we're gonna— and then that's where we're gonna hop on the bus, and then the bus is gonna take us to the location, the Rowing Regatta location. It's gonna be, gonna be an awesome day. I'm so nervous, you guys, like I'm genuinely so nervous, but we have a race at like 9:15, so our race is pretty early. And yeah, right now I'm actually gonna go— before going to bed, I'm gonna go on a quick run. I know we're technically not supposed to be like really working out today, it's more of a rest day, but I did work out in the morning already and I don't know, I just feel like I really need to go on this like quick 15, like 20-minute run. Yeah, anyways, I will go on a run and then after that I'll go to bed and I'll see you guys tomorrow morning. It's 3:24 right now and I'm gonna start getting ready. I'm gonna start— yeah, I'm getting dressed and then I'm gonna head down at 4.
At least this is an okay bar. It's an awful house. I want it to get you out. I'm working on a plan right now to come through. I've waited for a lifetime. It's time for you to calm down. Oh, nothing feels the same without you now. I've waited for a long time for you. But I tell you, I'll be there for you. I'll be there for you. It started happening when you walked away, so that's why I stay ready. 'Cause when all of my dreams seem so out of reach, you're crystal clear. You don't disappear, baby, no. I was stepping, streaming the whole damn time. Do you think of me when you close your eyes? 'Cause I don't see you in mine. Hi. Of broken love and an empty smile. The kind of love that makes you stay a while. The names you are. Go Buster!
You can see it through this camera. Look, you can see it better through this camera. Or can you? Yeah. Are you a photographer?
Yes.
Can I photobomb? Yes.
It's a vlog.
Oh, vlog! It's a vlog. Do not lose them, okay? Let's go, you guys! Try your best, you got this! Totally, Ahmed, we're proud of you! Good job, we're so proud! Why are you so stiff about it?
I didn't say anything. Guys, okay?
Yeah. And then back handspring. 2 back handsprings.
1, 2.
Yes, that was so beautiful. Let's do it again.
