GETTING MY LIFE BACK ON TRACK: Creating Habits For a More Productive & Meaningful Day

Julia walks through her day showing the habits she uses to stay productive and grounded: 30-minute Instagram limits, a "jealousy dump" journal to process envy, and a timer for focused work. She makes banana pancakes, edits video in Premiere Pro, and reflects on how small consistent routines build a meaningful life.

Good morning!
My days are simple, but I find that's what makes them so special. Rather than seeking constant action and over-the-top experiences, I've learned to find value in the little things life brings. The delicious breakfast I get to make, the morning workout I get to do, the fresh air I'm able to surround myself in are all things I sometimes take for granted. In this video, I'll be showing you guys what a usual day looks like for me, what I do, how I've recently been eating and working out, and some of the new habits I've been implementing to bring more peace, productivity, and meaning into my life.
I ain't missing that. A matter of times I've been told who to trust, but I ain't seen no proof. So watch your back, you might get jumped. I'm sitting on my talent 'cause I know I got some more in me. Why would I aspire? Y'all be kinda asking more of me. Why you think I'm down? I'm just choosing with my energy. Ask me what I'm on, I'mma show you what it's at in me. Why would I aspire? Y'all be kinda asking more of me. I don't want no farewell, this should be a noency. Every time I vest, no resentment 'cause I know it's key. I don't wish you ill intentions even if you know I mean 'em. Aye, if you know I mean 'em. Aye, if you know I mean 'em.
Hey guys, I just finished with the gym. Now initially this is supposed to be a glute and leg workout, but this ended up just being a full body do whatever I want workout. My workout routine is just non-existent when I'm filming. I kind of just go with the flow because I try to find the most— what's the word— most photogenic moves that I could do on camera. Yeah, but I'm honestly so, so sweaty still, like this super great workout. Hey guys, I just came back from the gym and I showered, and now we're gonna go make breakfast. Now usually I would have oats for breakfast, but I have oats in almost every single one of my videos, so I'm just decided to mix it up and try something new. So we're going to make banana pancakes. It's been a while since I've had banana pancakes. Usually I'd say banana protein pancakes, but I've officially stopped eating protein powder. I don't add it to my smoothies, oats, or any other recipes. I think I may be a little bit allergic to it, or just my stomach gets— it's just sensitive to protein powder. So we're going to somehow have to go without protein powder. Okay guys, the masterpiece is complete. This took me a while, but it looks so beautiful. Look at this. It's been such a long time since I've made something this nice. So gorgeous. And then with these pancakes, I have some coffee. Recently I've really loved drinking coffee in the morning, not because like I don't have energy, more so for the taste of it. I didn't actually like make it, make it with the coffee brewer or coffee machine. Just use this powder. So yeah, because I don't know how to make coffee. Cheers! That is so tasty. Hey guys, um, oh darn, I should probably be working. But I'm scrolling my phone. Now actually, one of the, one of the habits I've been trying to implement is to reserve social media scrolling for the evening. Now I'm pretty much addicted to my phone, I have it everywhere I go. However, I am trying to limit my screen time whenever I can because I find that, I find like scrolling through social media throughout the day just really breaks my schedule. I especially need to limit my screen time for Instagram and YouTube, which are my most used platforms. So one of the things that I've been doing to help regulate my social media usage is on Instagram, I like to put a 30-minute time limit. So whenever the 30 minutes of scrolling is up, I get a notification on the screen saying like, it's time to hop off. And then when it comes to YouTube, I only watch YouTube videos whenever I'm like eating something, which is kind of bad. I mean, I have to, you know, like eat mindfully, but I've been doing that and like it. I also try to delegate my social media scrolling for the evening. Throughout the day, I really, really try to make sure I don't go on social media like I was doing right now. So let's Let's go back to, to what we have to do, which the first thing I'm going to be working on is school. So let's do some school right now, and we're throwing this phone on the bed. Let's start. A term which comes from many of our internal physiological processes show changes. Finally, on the right side is a graph depicting— this is so cool. Hey guys, I just finished with school and now I'm taking a little break. And while I do that, I want to talk about the next habit that I've been implementing throughout my day, another small habit, which is journal writing. Now I used to write in my journal every single day, no matter if I felt happy or sad. I always made sure to write at least one page. But now I only reserve journal writing whenever I'm feeling like upset about something, or I'm like starting to overthink, or I have like— I get like anxious. And one of the— actually, one of the big things that I've been using my journal for recently is something called jealousy dump. So it's this thing, so whenever I feel jealous of something or someone, I open up my journal and write down that jealous thought. Once, or I rewrite it so many times until it actually gets out of my mind. And that actually really, really works for me. It helps me not necessarily forget about the thought, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I don't get jealous every single day, only like sometimes if I'm like scrolling through social media or I like start comparing myself. I find that's when jealousy arises, so I make sure to write it down immediately, and I find that it helps me minimize those thoughts. So you guys should definitely try it out if you guys also get like feelings of jealousy. But remember, you guys, jealousy is a normal human emotion. So what you do with jealousy that counts, right? Really just observe when you feel jealous and just remember that you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone. I mean, there's this quote that I really love. It goes like this: the sun— don't compare your life to others. There's no comparison between the sun and the moon. It shines when it's their time. So same thing with you. You shouldn't compare your day 1 to someone's day 100. I mean, every single path is unique and exciting. So really just focus on improving your own self. Don't really— don't focus on others and what they're doing. Next up, we are gonna be doing some editing, but not editing my video, actually editing a video for a club I'm in. I recently joined this club, it's like this engineering club, and essentially they were looking for a videographer to edit and record videos for them. And I was like, why not try it out? I've never done anything like this. Basically, the first project I have with them is to to edit a video for them. They sent me all the clips required, and all I have to do now is just sort the clips, and I'm going to start editing. Okay, so I did a little bit of editing, and now let's go have lunch because I'm getting starving. Let's go eat lunch. He's such a beauty. Just look at him. Kuya!
Hello!
You're eating lunch with me? So you guys, I decided to eat lunch outside today because it's so, so nice. It's not too hot. You can feel there's a little breeze, so it's really cool. So I have this grilled cheese sandwich that I made— well, my mom made. Um, basically, usually for lunch I like to have a bagel with butter and cheese, and that's like my favorite combination. But today I was like, why not eat a grilled cheese sandwich? And then I have, um, snap peas, and then I have this like this chicken. Let's give everything a go. Oh yeah, I'm just gonna eat all this up, enjoy the nice weather, and then we're gonna move on to super fun stuff. We're gonna be editing this video right here. So yeah, see you guys soon. Now we're gonna go and move on and do some editing for YouTube. So I am going to be editing this video that I'm recording right now. Now I don't edit every single day for YouTube because I don't film every day, but whenever I do have clips ready to go, I pop them into Premiere Pro and I just start editing them. I like to space out my editing. I like to edit in increments throughout the week because that— this way I'll get the video finished quicker. Okay, let's give this a taste.
Pretty good.
Combining the falafel with veggies and avocado makes for a really great dinner. Hey guys, I just finished up with dinner. It was really delicious. Now I'm back in my usual spot, and now we're gonna do just some chilling. Oh gosh, we're gonna see what's up. Oh, I'm gonna watch a few YouTube videos and then I'm gonna eat a little dessert. I've been loving these keto bars recently. This is how the box looks like. I got it from Costco. My favorite, favorite bars at all time. They're so good.
They're—
I like to have them instead of chocolate sometimes. So there's two flavors. There's this cookie dough flavor and then there is, um, a peanut butter flavor. Today I'm gonna have that cookie dough flavor. So I'm gonna— let's taste it on camera. So good, you guys. The texture— this only has 9 grams of protein, so it's not really protein protein bar, but it tastes so good. It's getting a little dark. You guys can tell because I have my LED lights on. It is 9:07 right now. Now I'm a little bit behind I'm supposed to start my next thing at 9 PM, but I haven't because I've been like trying to refilm this clip so many times. But anyways, the next thing is running. So you guys, I've been doing evening runs for a while now. Actually, I don't run every single day, but it's been fairly consistent. And that's actually kind of crazy because if you guys have been watching my videos for a while now, you know that I've continuously said that running was just never for me. I didn't enjoy it, nor did I have the drive to want to enjoy it. But recently I've had a major shift in my mindset when it comes to running, to the point where I actually want to run a marathon one day. Like, that's on the bucket list. Fingers crossed that actually happens. Of course, this newfound love for running didn't come out of nowhere. I want to thank Charlie for inspiring me. Hopefully I'll be as fast as you one day. By the way, little shout out: if you guys are interested in filmmaking and photography content, highly recommend you guys check out his channel. You can learn so much from his videos, like I have. I actually think his videos are the reason why my videos have gotten kind of vibe lately. I don't know if you guys can tell, they're a little bit different. The videos are like slowly evolving into something new and hopefully something better, and thanks to him. So yeah, just a little shout out, definitely check out his channel. And now I'm going to stop talking and go running because it's getting darker by the minute, and if I want you guys to see me running, I should probably do right now or else it'll be too dark to film. And there we go, my camera almost fell, which means I got to go. So let's go running. Okay, this didn't really go as planned because it's getting darker faster than I was expecting it to. But you guys, you guys get the gist. So I'm gonna put this camera away now, and I'm actually gonna go on a run, and mosquitoes are biting me like crazy. Gosh. Hey guys, I just came back from my run. I went in the shower, and now I'm ready to wind down and go to bed. But before I do that, I'm gonna do 5 minutes of meditation since I like to— I like to start off my day with meditation, and I like to end off my day with meditation. And after that, I'm gonna wind down and read a little bit on my Kindle. I recently got a Kindle, and I've been reading books on here rather than on my phone because I used to actually— I have a books app on my phone that I read, but the thing is I, I don't like reading on my phone. With the Kindle, it's more— it's better for the eyes, so much more convenient. So I'm going to read a chapter, I'm going to meditate, and then I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully you guys enjoyed this video and hope this video has given you the chance to reflect on your own routine and has given you inspiration to improve or change it to make it suit your own lifestyle and not the lifestyle you think you should follow. Because remember, a routine that you love creates a life that you love. So yeah, thanks for watching, and till next time.
