How Your Body Heals Through Your Liver, Kidneys & More

Justin Roethlingshoefer explains how your liver, kidneys, glymphatic system, lymphatic system, and colon work together to detoxify your body daily. He covers lifestyle habits that support these systems and how heart rate variability measures your health.
Your body wants to feel safe. Your body wants to be a temple of the spirit of God that dwells in there, and the peace and power you have to realize you're not stuck, you're not broken, you're just blocked. Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the Own It Show. I'm your host, Justin Rothling Schover. And if you're new to the On It Show, I just want to thank you for being here. I just want to say how excited I am of where we're going today and what we're about to dive into. The. Because it is long been my focus on continuing to empower, encourage, and ultimately educate you on how to take ownership of your health. And that is why you're here, because you've said, I want something more. I want to realize what it feels like to restore, reclaim, and redeem my health, because the same God that made you wants to do that for you. But it requires you to take an action of faith. It requires you to step in and live differently. And. And without living differently, it's very hard for our bodies to be able to heal. And so we've been in a series over the course of the last three weeks where we've really been helping you understand what does it mean to take ownership of our health? How do we do that? And if you go back two weeks to our show where we really leaned in, and if you're looking at it and you haven't taken a look, it's called you'd're not the Same Person youn Were Five Years Ago. And I'm not just talking about from a heart standpoint, from a mind standpoint, I'm talking about from a cellular standpoint. And over the course, if we look at it, we are made up of 30 trillion cells. Every 84 days, 500 million of those become completely brand new. And that means that every five to seven years, you become a completely brand new cellular human being. But whether we start to thrive or whether we decay over that time is completely up to you because it depends on what we do on a daily basis. And so this is what we started with, was understanding that our cells need three things. They need oxygen, they need. They need the ability to detoxify, and they need nutrients. And we went over the first one, oxygen, last week. And again, you can take a look at it. It's called what if you're not just tired, you're just starving for oxygen. And so today we're talking about detoxification is what does your body need to detoxify? What does your body actually require to detoxify? And how do you know whether you're detoxifying well or not? And so that's what we're diving into today. And the third one that we'll talk about next week is all about nutrients and how do we get cells the nutrients they need in order to thrive and flourish? And, and when we give the cells those three things, we see that our body is in a state of healing, in a state of health, and in a state of optimization, which is reflected through heart rate variability. And we delve all into that in that first episode. And so be sure to go back and look at that episode. Be sure to go lean into that. If you're questioning or wondering about anything that has to do with heart rate variability. There are about 15 different podcasts that I've done over the last little bit, all focused on heart rate variability. So Specifically back on January 13, called Is stress secretly killing you? HRV has your answer. And that was one of the most recent ones that I've done in this area that really helps and brings, I think, to life heart rate variability and the critical component that's there. Another one was on May 26, why HRV is a warning sign for chronic illness. So I'm just giving you guys some resources that you can go back and jump into and take a look on some different areas. And again on June 30, I did another one. Why your nervous system controls everything and how to finally heal. And so these are things, things that I want to equip you with, I want to give you so that you can actually realize something different and something new. But that's what the On it show stands for. And so today we're diving into the detoxification system. And when we talk about detox, I think oftentimes people get all clickbaity, right? They're like, oh, I know a great detox system and it puts me in a calorical deficit and it only lets me drink green smoothies and bone broth. I'm going to do a five day intermittent fast or a five day protein prolonged fast. That's only water and salt. And that's gonna be my detox. That's not what we're talking about with detoxification because detoxification is about something that is long term, long lasting and sustainable. Your body is detoxing every single day. And I want to tell you a little story here because I have a friend in Miami. He's a quiet guy. He's never really complained, always shown up he's never flashy and has never really needed recognition, but he's the kind of person that you can count on. He's one of the hardest workers, the most dependable people I know. And every day, without fail, he showed up with his small crew to take care of this massive, stunning 20 room mansion over on Miami Beach. And it was beautiful. Like vaulted ceilings, marble doors, natural light pouring into every room. But no one else ever cleaned it. And the family that owned it took the property and quite frankly, his team, for granted. They would sweep, they would dust, they would scrub for mold because of the humidity. They take the trash out, they clean the dishes of the leftover food, mow the lawn, trim the landscaping, fix anything that needed fixing, etc. Etc. And I always remember thinking that it was amazing that one guy could keep the whole place running. But then I went out the other day and something had really shifted. Like the parties had gotten bigger, the noise had gotten louder. The candles burned late into the night, filling the air with these synthetic fragrances. People tracked in dirt, never took their shoes off. Food sat out, trash piled up. The lights were never turned off. Garbage wound up in the pool. And somehow a few holes found their way into the walls inside the house. And still my friend showed up. But I started to notice something in him. He started to move slower. His eyes looked heavy. And one day he told me he hadn't slept in weeks. And he kind of laughed it off and said, I'll be fine. But then one day I walked into the mansion and it hit me that the air was stale, the floors were sticky, the smell I couldn't quite place. But the rooms were closed off and the pool had an odd green color to it. And as I walked through the house, I. I found my friend in the back hallway, slumped on a bench, exhausted. And he looked at me, said, I've tried, but I just can't keep up anymore. And that day really broke me because I realized the mansion didn't fall apart. It just never gave the janitor a break. And that mansion is you and I. That's our cellular detoxification system. That's your liver, that's your kidneys, that's your lymphatic system. That's your glymphatic system. That's your urinary system. That's your digestive system. Every system that's used in cleansing and detoxifying yourselves. Day in and day out. They work faithfully, silently doing their job, removing the trash, cleaning up all the garbage that you put inside your body from Overloaded meals to alcoholic beverages, to processed foods that you keep bringing in. But eventually, you're going to ask too much of it and offer too little. And what you don't realize is that you don't feel tired, inflamed, foggy, anxious, and heavy because you're broken. You. You feel it because your body is tired of carrying what it can't release. And it builds on the truth that you and I have to face, that you are not just a body, but you're a temple. You are the sacred space. And we can't have chaos and clutter inside the temple if that's truly what we want it to do, is heal. And so when I think about this, I see too many experts talking about detoxifying the body. And they speak about it in the sense of a moment. They promote multiple supplements. They exchange different food changes that you can make that are extreme or even throw you into an aggressive protocol all at once. But what that ultimately does is it overwhelms the system even further and leaves you feeling foggy, inflamed, tired, nauseous, moody, and even sometimes worse than when you started. And quite frankly, there's a word for this. It's called the Herxheimer reaction. It's a sudden release of toxins faster than your body can actually eliminate them. And because we weren't meant to detoxify once a year, once a quarter, but rather daily. And it's how we were designed, to have a system that flows and allows it to actually get out and moving through. And so when toxins build up in our nervous system, it shifts into an alert, just like I was talking about before. This daily divine rhythm of clearing these toxins can actually create healing, peace, and ultimately an alignment within your body. But making sure that your body speaks the language of safety or survival, heart rate variability is that language. So if you have a low hrv, if your HRV is lower than where it should, and go back to some of those podcasts I talk about, because that's where we can actually lean in and go deep into that area. And you're like, justin, I get the oxygen part. I listen to that, and I do all those things. And I'm going to listen to the nutrient component next week, and I do all those things, then detoxification is where we have to start. Because if you have low hrv, it is signaling that is a signal to you that your body is not in a safe place, that something is wrong. It's the state of an internal alarm that. That triggers inflammation, disrupts digestion and slows the healing because it's the language of our body. But I want to highlight this for you guys is when you begin opening and draining the pathways of your body. When you support your detoxification systems, your nervous system feels the shift and it's impossible not to see HRV rise, inflammation subside, stress lower, and healing really begin when you open up those detoxification systems. Because if your detoxification system isn't moving, it's simply recycling. So when you're not eliminating the problem, you're not meaning the toxins that you're storing in your fat in your brain and your cells. Over time, those hidden burdens become visible symptoms. And so there's five main drainage pathways that all must be flowing before your body can do what it was designed to do naturally. Because as I said, detox is not a three day juice fast or a juice cleanse. It's a way of living. Even one area of these is blocked, your system can begin to get backed up and the toxins get reabsorbed into your cells instead of removed. So you're not eliminating, you're recycling. Critical thing to know, hear and understand. Just like my friend and his team, God created us with five pathways that need to be open in order for body to be able to remove toxins. Well, and so the first one is your liver. Your liver is your chemical processing plant. It's basically this ultimate gatekeeper. It filters and neutralizes everything from medications to alcohol to environmental toxins. But we talk about it a lot when we were building the health haven and in our backyard of things that we were doing from the environmental side, like why we were keeping our air filters inside and creating these amazing different changes that we did with the Jasper, the way in which we put the decking in non toxic artificial turf material, the way in which we made sure that the light was always available. So everything that we have, from food to alcohol to environmental toxins, our body has to process this. But here's what you may not be aware of is that the liver dumps toxins into something called bile, which must freely flow through the gallbladder or into the gut for elimination. And so this is why a lot of times we'll get stomach aches or why you'll get why people say the gut is the second brain and why you have leaky gut or a lot of these issues is because if bile is thick, stuck or stagnant, your detox stops which overloads the. And when the liver gets overloaded, instead of breaking Toxins down, it stores them. So this is where inflammation builds, where weight loss stalls, where hormones go crazy and you begin to feel tired, toxic, and quite frankly, just not right. And so when we think about this, people always go, justin, how will I know the difference between any of these systems not being open? Your liver is detoxifying well. You will digest fats without any type of nausea, without any type of burping. Your stools won't be pale if you've had a lot of fats over the course of the day. Number two is you feel energized. You don't feel heavy after eating healthy fats like olive oil and avocados. You, you feel, my gosh, like I've got energy after eating a lot of these things. I digest it well. And the third thing is you can actually digest bitter foods like arugula or ginger without any type of difficulty. I'm not a ginger fan in the sense of taking in that type of food. Just don't like the way it tastes. But when I do digest it, I digest it without any issues. And when I go back to when I was 32, 33, and I had the precancerous ulcer and the precancerous polyps in my colon, I still remember I would have anything with ginger. I would have any type of leafy greens. And this might be tmi, but I would literally, it would look like what I ate was the same thing that ended up in the toilet. And it was an amazing wake up call to say, my gosh, yeah, I'm not actually digesting food well. And that was a big trigger to let me know that, hey, there's something wrong with my detoxification systems. And so when we realize that our liver isn't detoxifying well, we'll come up with some of these different symptoms or things we might be experiencing. Things like skin issues, acne, rashes, eczema. We might have hormone imbalances, things that produce something maybe of low energy, a low libido, weight gain. That's unexplained. We could have brain fog or chronic fatigue, bad breath or body odors. We could start bloating, especially on the right side, because that's really where our liver, liver sits right up in, in that rib area. We might be waking up between 1 and 3am Very consistently, not even necessarily to pee, but just because we're waking up and all of a sudden this is now a sense that, hey, something's actually wrong or not working properly. We could have a poor tolerance to caffeine or alcohol, meaning when we drink alcohol, it takes us three, four days to actually feel like we're ourself again. When we take in caffeine, we are just up all night or we're awake and alert all night. And so these are some of the things that we need to start to do. If you realize that, hey, I have some of those symptoms and I want you to try some of these to make an effort at opening up this pathway. So you might have heard of this before, but using apple cider vinegar before meals, this is not a weight loss trick, this is a detoxification trick, something that we can start to activate the liver at a greater way. So you take about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before meals, that's going to help with the breakdown that will start to again turn your liver on in a better way. Have bitter greens, have choline rich foods like eggs or organ meats that are going to again help with your liver to start to activate again in the right way. And then the next one is walking or flowy stretching movements before and after your meal. So it could be literally you go into a sun salutation and do a little bit of movement right before you sit down to eat. You eat. And then after you go for a five minute walk with your spouse, which is again going to help with the digestive process. So that is one detoxification pathway, which is your liver. The second one is your kidneys, basically your urinary system. And when we think about the kidneys are your body's primary blood filter, the silent workhorses of detox, to be honest with you. They filter your blood basically 24, 7, which ends up being about 50 gallons of blood a day. Think about that for a second. And how much 50 gallons is? You just try to drink a gallon of water every single day and you're like, my gosh, that's a lot. That's 50 times that. And that's how much your kidneys are filtering every single day. They remove water, they remove waste, they remove toxins. And they can ultimately only do their job if you give them water, minerals and manageable toxin loading. Because so oftentimes we're dehydrated chronically. We don't use any trace minerals, we don't use any electrolytes, and we constantly load it with different toxins. And we wonder why we break, we wonder why we don't feel well, we wonder why we're backed up. And so I want you to think about them like a Brita filter for Your bloodstream, they're the main detoxification role. And what that does is it filters out water soluble toxins like urea, ammonia, medications, environmental chemicals, and it regulates the electrolyte balance like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, that ultimately end up giving us a greater blood pressure. They balance fluid volume, releasing hormones like renin, and then they produce urine, which is how those filtered toxins actually leave the body. And so if your kidneys are clogged, inflamed, dehydrated, your whole detoxification system in the urinary area backs up and builds waste in the body. And so when we think about this, I have a little song that like I put to it. It's so goofy, but it's hydration, nourish, move, remove, hydrate, nourish, move, remove, Hydrate, nourish, move, remove. That's how we have to actually do this. And so a healthy kidney drainage means you urinate four to eight times a day. Your urine is usually pale, clear or pale yellow, not fully clear, because if it's fully clear here, this is again one of those things that people don't realize. If it's fully clear, oftentimes it just means that water is going in and coming out. You want it to be a very pale yellow. And then you want to make sure there's no burning or urgency when you have to go, or any pain when you go. And that ultimately the way that you feel is you feel hydrated and clear, not puffy and dry. A lot of people talk about swelling. A lot of these are symptoms that your kidney system is not moving. Swelling in the hands, swelling in the face, needing to pee only one time a day or 12 plus times a day. Every single time you pee, it's clear. Fatigue that lingers even after you're resting, low back pain or pressure underneath the ribs, brain fog, poor concentration, dry, itchy skin, or even when you're urinating that you have a strong smelling or foamy urine. All of these are signs that your kidney and urinary system is not working well. And so again, the ways that we can support kidney drainage or support that kidney urinary system is things that we've talked about before. But here's the key points is hydration. Hydration is king. Basically half your body weight in ounces of filtered water daily, ideally with a little bit of trace minerals or a pinch of sea salt for better absorption. Making sure that the first 20 ounces of water in the day is with electrolytes, magnesium, potassium, sodium, to make sure the kidneys can help Process waste efficiently. I've told you before, I love element, I love protect, I love ATH as key products. Salt is another one. But a cool announcement is we'll be in the, we're in the process right now of actually custom formulating the cleanest electrolytes out there, which is super amazing for us because everything else has citric acid and stevia and all these different things that are sweetening it. We want to make the cleanest one. Your next 10 ounces of water in the morning is hydrogen water. Again, making sure that we are absorbing it well and using it the right way and then getting 12,000 steps a day, because again, movement increases circulation and lymphatic drainage, which is another one we're going to talk about, but it ultimately reduces the load on your kidneys. And so that is again, the kidney system making sure that is operating well and shut down for you so that you're able to get the detoxification necessary. Now, this one is one of my favorites to talk about because this is the glymphatic system. And the glymphatic system is your brain detoxification system. And when we think about the brain detoxification system, it is so critical because what we've seen in the rise of Alzheimer's and dementia, and when we think about your glymphatic system, it's the deep cleaning detox crew for your brain. Basically your brain's night shift janitor. And it only comes alive when you sleep. And the fact that it only comes alive when you sleep now brings us to understand the purpose and intention and the importance for sleep. Because during your day, your brain is fully on alert. It's thinking, it's working, it's performing, it's answering and doing complex things. But at night when you sleep, your brain cells actually shrink slightly. And this is hidden network channels that ultimately activates and flushes out toxins through cerebral spinal fluid. And it flushes the waste toxins and even the plaques like the beta amyloid that contribute to diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia. So I want you to imagine that the glymphatic system is like a car wash for your brain. You drive through with all the dirt and grime of the day, you get that full car wash and you get that undercarriage wax, and you roll out clean, rested, reset and protected, ready for tomorrow. That's what your glymphatic system does. But if you skip the wash day after day after day, that build up turns toxic. And most people never let the glymphatic system do its job. And so because of that, what ends up happening is they don't get enough sleep constantly. They don't sleep long enough, they don't get deep enough. And now we have to understand that because the sleep has four stages. We've talked about this before. Light sleep, slow wave sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep. We, we cycle through all four stages in approximately 40 minutes. And we have to get four to five cycles each night. And so it's only those two, slow wave and deep sleep. REM sleep stages, slow wave and deep sleep are the exact same, just different wording and then a REM sleep cycle. So those two cycles are when the glymphatic system turns on and begins to wash the brain like a car wash with the cerebral spinal fluid. And ultimately it cleanses the brain. And so these are what has been proven to ultimately reverse Alzheimer's disease, prevent Alzheimer's and dementia, pause or create the slow progression of symptoms once they begin. And so this is where we have to really make sure, because those toxins then get removed and then flow into the lymphatic system where they're removed completely from the body. And so that is the critical piece that we need to know. And so if you're the signs that your lymphatic system is working is number one, you're getting 38 to 50% of your total sleep time in slow wave and REM sleep cycles. Easy. We know if you're getting between 38 and 50%, your glymphatic system is working. You wake up energized and go to bed tired. Like you're on a rhythm of that. There's no pressure in the head or behind your eyes when you wake up. No headaches, no dizziness, no fogginess. But signs that your glymphatic system is not detoxifying well. You wake up feeling just as tired as when you went to bed. You hit a wall in the middle of the afternoon. You feel foggy, unfocused, or even forgetful. You have headaches or eye strain or even just this buildup of pressure. There's a lot of mood swings, anxiety or sensitivity to stress. And then number three, which is so critical is that you have to rely on caffeine to feel normal. And I think that's where a lot of people think that, oh no, I just love coffee. But if you actually thought about it, you use it because that's the only way that you can start to clear your mind. And so ways that we can support it and we've talked about this before in a lot of different podcasts, but it's that three, two, one rule. Three hours before bed, no food, with 400 times more melatonin produced in our gut than by the pineal gland in our brain. Two hours before bed, no work. That means we shut down all these different things that we're leaning into, and then one hour before bed, no more blue light. And ensuring that we have a consistent sleep and wake time. And if we're able to operate that way and be able to lean into that, it allows us a really powerful way to start to focus on things that can help us get into those deeper states of sleep, like cold, dark rooms, EMF free rooms, making sure that we're have our phone somewhere different. So it's not impacting that as well. And so that's what we talk about when we talk about the glymphatic system. So we've had three systems so far. We've had our liver, we've had our kidneys with the urinary system, and then we've had the glymphatic system, which is for the brain and detoxification of the brain. All three of those throw everything into the lymphatic system. Okay? The lymphatic system, your lymph is like the street sweeper and cleanup crew of the body. It picks up cellular trash like toxins, excess fluid, infections and dead cells, and delivers all that junk to the liver and the kidneys or into the skin so it can be flushed out of your body. So think about that. If it goes to the liver and then to the kidneys, it's going to come out through the urinary system or and then from the skin through sweat. And so whereas your kidneys filter your blood, the lymph, the lymphatic system or the lymph filters your tissues. No healthy detox happens without it. But the critical compart to realize that your lymphatic system has no pump. So unlike blood, which is pumped by your heart, lymph nodes only moves when you do. So if you're sitting all day, not sweating, chronically overstressed, dehydrated, your lymphatic system backs up, leaving you again feeling puffy, heavy, inflamed, foggy and fatigued because your body's man, I'm full of all this junk and I can't get rid of it. So I'm just going to store it and continue to recycle it. It would be like if you continued to dip your Water. Or you dip your glass into a puddle and drink that and expect yourself to not have issues with the water you're drinking. Because healthy lymph flow looks like no chronic puffiness in the face, hands or ankles. You wake up feeling light and you sweat easily with movement or heat. There's so many people I talk to are like, I man, I just don't sweat at all. It's a sign that your lymphatic system isn't operating well. And suddenly when people start to sauna, when people start to get exposed to heat on a regular basis, what ends up happening? They go, my gosh, I sweat so easily now. Yes. Not because you learned how to do it, but because your lymphatic system got unclogged. And that's why you start to feel well. When you have the signs that your lymphatic system isn't working well, you're going to have swollen hands and feet. You might have a puffy face or eyes, brain fog. You might notice that you have skin breakouts in different ways, different frequent infections. These are all things that are going to start to add up. But ways we can support our Lymph again is 12,000 steps a day. Movement is critical, movement is key. 5 minute stretch breaks daily. Again, allow your system, allow yourself to move 15 to 20 minutes of sauna every single day. Or contrast therapy between hot and cold exposure, 30 minutes of exercise every single day hitting all of your zone, two minutes every single week through that sweating massage graston, skin dry brushing at home, massage tools you can use daily lymphatic drainage into the blood system near the collarbone. So you can just do your own little gentle self massage that can help activate it. Belly breathing. We talked about this in terms of activating the parasympathetic nervous system. We talked about in that the oxygen component that we did. And again, making sure you get half your body weight in ounces of water every single day because that will again in turn help the sweating mechanism. So these are the things we have to make sure we're doing lifestyle wise to actually turn on your lymph. And then lastly we've got the bowels or the colon. And obviously the colon is connected to the digestive system because that's the off ramp. And when we think about the colon and this is the place where your body gets rid of what it no longer needs. I want you to think of this like the garbage chute in some high rise building. Because every system in your body, from your liver, your gut, the blood, your lymph is dumping waste into it. And so if the chute is clear, trough leaves trash, leaves the building. But if it's backed up, starts to rot, starts to recirculate, and ultimately create internal toxicity. So this is why daily, complete and easy bowel movements are so important and one of the strongest indicators of healthy detoxification system. Because you can be doing all the right things. You can be eating well, taking the supplements, exercising. But if you're not pooping regularly, you're not detoxing. And our modern culture normalizes constipation, the bloating feeling and irregularity. I still can't tell you guys, like, when I was unwell during Those years of 32, 33, the fatigue, the bloating, the headaches, I would be either constipated and I wouldn't go for a day or two, and then there would be days where I went seven or eight times. And it was like I said, you could literally see exactly what I ate. And it might be too much information, but it's critical for us to actually realize that's not normal and that they are signs that there's things that are going on. Because there's the deeper issue that when your bowels are backed up, your liver slows down. When your liver slows down, your lymph and kidneys slow down. When your lymph and kidneys show down, your sleep gets disrupted and your lymphatic system slows down. And thus your hormones get recirculated, your gut lining gets inflamed, your brain starts to fog, your body begins to reabsorb when it's trying to eliminate. And ultimately it's like flushing the toilet and just having it swirl and swirl and swirl, not go anywhere. And ultimately it eventually overflows. And so when we think of a healthy bowel function, there's no ongoing bloating or gas, zero discomfort. There's two to three bowel movements a day. You feel lighter, you feel clear. After you eliminate, you feel like you're on a cloud. You're not relying on laxatives or caffeine to go. It just happens naturally. Like, I can't tell you how many people I hear go, yeah, I just need to have my coffee. And then I know what happens next. But it's rather, no, this should just be, let's get our water and away we go. I tell the funny story is when I was training for that marathon, the guys always wanted to run at 5:30. And I was like, man, 5:30, can we do 6:00 clock because I needed a half hour to get my bowel movement done. And so there was probably seven or eight times where I was on the middle of the run and I had to find a gas station. And there was a couple times that I didn't find a gas station, I had to go find a bush. And that again is signs that your bowel is functioning properly. And when we think about ways that it's functioning or it's overwhelmed, is it's going to be like your stools are hard, they're small, they're difficult to pass, they're infrequent, or you have difficulty going altogether and you skip days. You have to sit there for so long that your legs go numb. When you're finished, you feel like it's incomplete, you still feel bloated and gassy after meals. There could be hormone imbalances again, erectile dysfunction, skin breakouts, mood swings, bad breath. Different things of all of this nature start happening regularly. And so if you're not pooping daily, this is something to try to open up the pathway, which is you can add magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate. Both can actually help with this. Incorporate chia seeds or flaxseeds and leafy greens into your morning routine, put them into a smoothie, something that'll get you going. And then the third one, which we've talked about pretty much in all of them, and you can see how important this is, but increase hydration significantly. So, minimum, we've talked about half your body weight in ounces of water, but if this is where you're at, start looking at what type of hydration and electrolytes you're starting to increase. Because detoxification is all about rhythm, and quite frankly, it's the circadian rhythm, to be exact. The circadian rhythm, like I've talked about, is that 24 hour internal clock, a cycle that regulates when you sleep, when you wake, when you eat, when you produce hormones, when you detox, when you heal, when you perform. And every organ in your body runs on this rhythm. Your liver, your gut, your heart, your brain, your entire detoxification system all operate on a schedule. But when we disrupt the rhythm, you disrupt recovery, energy, clarity, healing, all of these things that come along with this. And so I need you to think of it as the master conductor of your body's orchestra, cueing those different systems to rise and, and rest in the perfect timing. And so it's almost like your body's a smart home. And so the circadian rhythm is the automatic Timer that opens the blinds at sunrise, that wakes you up, adjusts the thermostat during the day, that keeps you alert and focused. It dims the lights at sunset, starts that melatonin production to start winding down. It locks the doors at night and puts your body in that recovery mode. But when the rhythm isn't synced, when you're out of order, when things aren't operating well, ultimately what happens is the late nights or maybe the screens before bed, or the inconsistent wake time, the travel, the stress, you start to feel groggy, you feel wired and tired all the time. You're inflamed and off. And these are the core, these are the critical components that keep you out of that rhythm so that you can't fall asleep, you can't wake up refreshed, you don't digest as smoothly, et cetera, et cetera. And so these are the things that we have to start to think about and really start to integrate into our life. Because as I've mentioned before, detox is not a three day juice cleanse. It's a lifestyle. It's not a supplement hack or some type of gimmick, but it's life done differently. And when you think about your detoxification system as the drainage system and the janitorial team for your body, you realize that man, God built this into me. He created this. And so your role isn't to force detox, but rather it's to open up the exits. And so the questions that I want you to sit with are, am I pooping twice a day? Am I peeing four to eight times a day? Am I sweating heavily one to two times a day? Am I hitting 38 to 50% of my nightly sleep and slow and REM, slow wave and REM sleep, and then am I getting 12,000 steps a day? If those five boxes are not checked, Your body isn't detoxifying its recycling. And thus your body is working extremely hard behind the scenes, which creates a large amount of stress. And the signal that's being sent to your body is that it's lacking safety. And as a consequence, your nervous system stays in the sympathetic state, dropping your hrv. And thus you can't heal. And so your body cannot eliminate when it's in that fight orf flight space, it just holds on just in case. And so that's why the nervous system runs everything in the body. And that HRV is so important, because it starts to wake us up to what's actually happening. Because what happens when our detoxification removes the toxins. When the system is open, and it decreases the amount of toxins in our body, we increase cellular health. When increasing cellular health, it signals a sign of safety to the nervous system. When the nervous system has a sign of safety, HRV increases. When HIV increases, it increases our healing capacity. What I need you to realize is that the process of detoxification means you're giving your body time to switch into parasympathetic mode. Rest, digest. That's when the janitor can get back to work. That's when repair happens. That's when HRV climbs. So you don't need to fight for healing. You just need to remove what's in the way, open the pathways properly. And your body wants to heal. Your body wants to feel safe. Your body wants to be a temple of the spirit of God that dwells in there and the peace and power. Because you have to realize you're not stuck, you're not broken, you're just blocked. And once an exit opens, wholeness can flow in because the bad stuff can flow out. And so there's a pattern that's happening here. There's a pattern that I'm hoping that you're seeing. And it starts with realizing that the detoxification system is one of the things that your body needs to be open and so that you can thrive. At the end of the day next week, we're diving into nutrients so that we can look at what nutrients need at the cellular level so you can function well. And at the end of the day, we know success is different. So own your different, and we'll see you guys next week. Sam.
