It is chicken processing time. These guys are getting big. We've let this batch go a little bit too long because we wanted to film a workshop. We have the pleasure of raising a lot of chickens on this strip mine site. We get many benefits from having them on the property, and one of those is food. Processing a chicken, especially if you've never done it before, can be pretty overwhelming. I remember the first time I did it, I didn't know anything, and I had my phone playing a YouTube video going step by step with an instructor, and I learned a lot through that process. But over a few years and, and thousands of birds later, we got a pretty good system in place. And step number 1, what's going to make your processing day go as smooth as it can be, is actually the day before. The key to processing a lot of birds at one time is to do an assembly line. Now, you don't have to do an assembly line. Maybe it's just you and your family and you're processing the birds that you raise on your homestead. What is a necessity is getting everything cleaned and set up the night before. You will not use pattern and flow from the steps it takes to process your bird. From step 1 to step 9, it needs to be in order where you're not tripping over each other, which includes having the right tools in your station. Listen to me, guys. I, I have not set up the night before, and I'm running around crazy the day of trying to set everything up. And you get a late start, you're in the heat of summer. So my number one tip for processing chickens: set up the night before. You come in the next morning, you clean it one more time, and then you're ready to go. We are going to be going over every step from how to order these birds, how to raise these birds, How to process, how to package, how to cut, and then how to sell. And this workshop is absolutely free, at your own pace. Watch it when you want to. It's found in our school community, links in the bio. What are you waiting for?
