1 Month in Mexico (what we do when we’re not filming)

Nate and Kara spent three weeks in Mexico around Todos Santos learning to surf, eating tacos, and spotting whale sharks. They also snorkeled with sea lions, took a yacht day, and caught up on work before heading home to Tennessee for a cousin's wedding.

I'm 30 years old now, and I wanted to see if I could grow facial hair, and I still cannot grow proper facial hair.
It's embarrassing when you see people that know you when you're talking about your sad mustache.
In our last video, we flew from Denmark to Mexico, completely pooped from the last few months of traveling the world. In the last month, we had traveled to four different countries and had slept in a different bed almost every other night. We were sleep deprived and had six weeks of videos that needed to be edited. We wanted to go to Mexico so we could have a warm and sunny place to call home. While catching up on work, Nate also snuck in some surfing, and we did a lot of hanging out with our favorite Italian parents, Bob and Gina. In this video, we are traveling back home to Tennessee and we'll fill you in on what you missed.
After three whole weeks of being in Mexico. I'm officially married to a real surfer man and a man with a mustache.
We'll get to that later, but for now, we are about to head to the airport because today we are flying home for my cousin's wedding.
Do you have room for your feet?
Five. Beautiful house.
We are making a quick pit stop on the way to the airport at our favorite bakery that we found in this little town. We've been here several times, and they have the best coffee and brownies I've ever had. And I mean, and browning for breakfast at 8am.
All right, three weeks later, we are back where it all started, at the airport.
We've based ourselves between these two tiny towns in Mexico, Todos, Santos and Cerritos. And we've totally fallen in love with this area. And our daily routine has pretty much looked like this. Wake up, drink coffee, go to the beach, surf, eat a ton of tacos, go back to our room, do a little bit of work, eat more tacos for dinner, go to bed, and repeat.
So our goals when we arrived three weeks ago was for Kara to catch up on editing and for me to learn how to surf.
I need to get a good tan.
I feel like I got the better.
End of this deal.
I had tried surfing a few times in the past. I'd always been terrible at it, but I thought for sure after three weeks, I would definitely have the hang of it. Let me just say.
Oh.
Oh.
Ouch.
If nothing else, these past three weeks have taught me that surfing is so much harder than it looks.
I spent about the first 20 days of this trip falling off the board and drinking the majority of the ocean. It's Day. Day two and everything hurts. Don't touch my ribs.
It does not be too big. I feel like they didn't look that big from here. I'm so unbalanced as it is at this part. I was doing everything I could just to stay on the board. Sitting out there with no waves.
How you doing?
You done?
But it's funny because every day, even though you and Bob weren't becoming professionals right away, they both. We couldn't get them out of the water. Like, if it wasn't freezing and tiring, I think you would have just surfed all day every day.
It was a ton of fun. But then, like the last two days, something clicked. I don't know what it was, but I rode more waves in the last two days than I've ever ridden in my entire life, and it was so much fun.
And there's a good chance that more of our travels might start to revolve around places that have decent waves, at least for beginners, because I would still definitely, even after three weeks, consider myself very much at the beginner level of surfing.
Who's got the fever out there? Going inside because I'm freezing and my feet are so cold. I'm tired.
All right. Now we have a three hour flight to Dallas.
In addition to catching up on videos and learning how to surf, we also took a few days off to enjoy time with some friends and family. We were so excited that Nate's mom, Christy, my sister Cassie, and her husband Nathan got to come visit us and go on some adventures. Cheers. We spent a whole day on a beautiful, beautiful yacht in Cabo, doing some of our favorite things. Dancing, eating, of course, and enjoying the sunshine. The company we went with even threw Nate a surprise belated birthday party.
This morning. We have driven an hour and a half to the town of Laplace, and we are about to jump on a boat and go swim with some incredible sea creatures.
I'm so excited. I'm a little nervous.
Here we go.
I'm so excited. After an hour of searching, we weren't sure if we were going to see anything today. But then we spotted our first whale shark.
Wow.
That was so fun.
Awesome. It was amazing. Okay. It was slow motion.
You did it. Next, we went snorkeling with a colony of the cutest playful sea lions.
I seriously thought you came up behind me and went. It was so loud. After that, we drove to a gorgeous beach to enjoy for the rest of the day. Oh, this water is chilly.
Lunchtime.
It was an unforgettable trip and much needed Family time.
Okay, now we have a two hour layover here in the Dallas airport, which we are both super excited about because we haven't been able to properly check out the new Centurion Lounge.
Oh, yeah. Last time we were here, we only had like a two minute layover and we ran in and looked for tacos and chocolate chip cookies, and they didn't have them, so we're a little disappointed. But we're gonna give them a second chance.
I should not be this excited because I've literally eaten tacos every day for the last three weeks, but I'm still excited.
Also, this. This mustache is not a permanent fixture on my face.
Yes, it is.
I grew out my facial hair while we were surfing and then shaved it into a mustache as a joke, and I love it. And Kara begged me to keep it. We struck a deal. I'm earning a 30 minute massage by keeping it in this video. I was like, I'm for sure there's no way I'm putting on mustache on camera.
I had to do some negotiating. You're getting tell them how cute it is.
No, this will. This will be gone the next time you see me.
This is weird. 1 hour and 45 minutes until we're home. This will be the first time that we have been home since December 26th.
Basic economy is the worst. I think they seat you separately just to spite you for buying the cheapest ticket.
Of your Carry on article.
On your left.
We just landed home in Nashville, and we are so excited to see all of our friends and family and our dogs.
You guys look like you got color.
You are my sunshine on a rainy day.
Wow.
Look at her go.
Assessing the waves for today. The guide is so fast.
These waves are so giant that I can't even see Nate on the other side of them. Just that tiny little dot right there. I made so many tacos after this.
Of course. Nate just caught his biggest wave ever, and I didn't capture it. Hopefully he doesn't begin.
After. Oh, I didn't know we were walking. Sorry. Next thing's allowed, right?
We thought we would fill you in on our last three weeks.
Town in Mexico. I'm really resty talking to the camera. You ready?
Wow.
All right, everybody put your feet in a circle. Whoever moves. What is this?
Oh, my gosh. Well, I have an I like.
I have an unfair. Ready?
Oh, my gosh. Petrified. You heard it.
He's the perfect person.
I knew it would pick me. Poor little guy.
Bye, little crab.
The power is out, but it's not stopping us.
Bob, would you like a.
We have ceviche chips, paneer, rose.
And saint candles and bug patches. I'm gonna try just.
