48 HOURS LIVING ON A RAFT (ultimate friendship test with Eamon and Bec)

Video documents Nate and Kara Buchanan spending 48 hours living on a 16x16 floating dock in a lake in Canada with fellow YouTubers Eamon and Bec. The first 24 hours (covered here) shows them launching the raft, organizing supplies (kitchen, composting toilet, tent, mattress), dealing with motor/anchor problems and a rescue from a neighbor (Gary), running competitions inspired by Survivor to decide sleeping arrangements, cooking, and nighttime improvisations; the second 24 hours will appear on Eamon & Bec's channel. There is also a brief sponsor read for Surfshark.
Chapters
We are in the middle of a.
Lake somewhere in Canada on a 16 by 16 floating dock. And these are our new friends, Eamon and Beck and Craig and Amy.
We are about to spend the next 48 hours living on this dock.
About to use our toilet for the first time at those chef moves.
That was nuts.
Now we're about to run into this island.
Uh oh. This is a bad idea. Look at this tree.
Uh oh.
Oh, no.
This is just all a disaster.
But now that I think about it, I don't think this dock is big enough for six people.
The two remaining friends left on the raft with us are fellow YouTubers Eamon and Beck. They spent the last year renovating a cabin in the woods.
What's happening?
I'm terrified.
Trust in the process, man.
And this raft is actually just the floating dock they built earlier this year.
Say hello to my little friend.
We've been Internet friends with these guys for over a year now, but we met in person for the first time a few days ago.
You guys good?
Yeah.
So far, things are going pretty well. So now we've decided to take our relationship to the next level.
I win.
Yesterday, Nate and Eamonn added a few necessities to our raft.
All right, the moment of truth.
Good enough for me.
And this morning, we're loading up the raft with everything we need to survive for the next two days.
I feel like we need to stay out here longer just to justify all of the stuff that we're bringing. Four people, though. Four people.
And this right here is how you actually know that we're doing it. We brought the full composting toilet.
It's already cold.
Start by undoing that rope. There we are leaving the station.
You and I will just stand like this the whole time.
What are we doing?
And we're off.
Not quite.
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
She's free.
Good job, guys. We're right here if you need anything.
He's getting naked already, folks.
There we go. Free Nelly.
We are officially detached from land. Start the 48 hour clock.
We also haven't tested the motor yet.
Oh, geez.
Gas goes in here.
Hey, yeah, baby.
Should it be smoking like that?
I'm in reverse. And it's not really reversing, is it?
I felt so free.
If this motor dies, we are screwed.
Captain's chair.
I'll fall straight in the water with this. This is max speed.
Bye home.
What's going on, boys?
She's roasting, but pretty much made it.
To the middle of the lake.
Don't have to worry about this. For 48 more hours. Do we have enough rope?
Yeah.
This is everything that we need to survive for the next 48 hours. But it's kind of a mess right now. So we're gonna get settled, put some things away. Then we'll give you a full tour of our new home.
This is quite comfy. As is Care Bear toilet paper.
Can't lose that. Maybe we should try to like, organize the junk.
Let's stop calling our precious things Jun.
Oh, wow.
This is huge.
It's so big.
Goodbye, Rob.
You put that into that pin.
Oh, no.
Sorry, Nate. You go into this first.
Sorry, Nate.
Hey, should we talk to Tennessee for their vlog and they talk to me?
Yes.
Hey, y'. All, how you feeling?
I love it.
Hey, where'd you find this tent?
Good question, nate. Good price. 3.99 at the dump.
There's no way to stake the tent down to the dock, so we're putting some screws in. The most concerning thing at this point is when we started, we were on this side of the island and now we've loaded all way here. The anchor is not holding.
All right, let me give you a tour around our raft. This is the utilities corner. We have a kitchen here, A grill, a toilet with a great view cooler. This big thing is the rest of our food. I think we have enough to feed an army. A giant speaker. And this thing is going to charge all of our gear for the next two days. Moving this way, our fire pit where we're going to roast marshmallows and which will hopefully keep us warm when the sun goes down. And in the front of the raft, we brought some chairs to lounge in. And that leads us to the bedroom. We have this giant six person tent and this luxurious six inch memory foam mattress. A super soft, cozy comforter, champagne. But on this side, we just have these tiny little sleeping pads. Questionably warm sleeping bags. As you can see, this isn't very fair. But we have a fun way that we're going to decide who gets to to sleepwear later today.
And that wraps up the tour. This is our home for the next 24 hours.
48.
Oops. So used to 24 hour challenges.
So.
Wow.
He's a genius. Oh, sorry.
Okay. We forgot the can opener.
You have a lot of trust in Eamon.
Yeah, no kidding. It's just a knife pointed right towards your fingers.
Oh, yeah. Real quick, I want to say a big thank you to surfshark for continuing to support our channel whether we're floating around on a raft or flying business class. In the description below. Okay, now back to the raft.
The ball is getting very full.
So Nate and I were in charge of food for the first 24 hours of this adventure. I brought burritos to make for lunch, but we've taken over AM and a bit kind of made the burritos.
They're just so good at it.
Kara was like, um, do you know how to cut an onion really well.
In all seriousness though, they are incredible cooks. They have their own cookbook and so it just felt right. I feel kind of bad, but not really. Papa Butch.
Papa Booch got the nickname Papa Booch for being the old man of the group.
No, you're the wise owl.
Wow, that is really good. Eamon and Beck are vegan, so we've eaten nothing but vegan food since we've been at the cabin and it's actually been incredible. I've had some of the best food.
Of my life this week.
What?
Wow.
Look at how strong this vegan is. You lifted that motor out of the water. No problem. Where do you get your protein?
Sir?
Where do you get your protein? From plants?
No.
Should be shooting out here.
Probably some technical difficulties.
We started on this side of the lake and we've drug our anchor a few football fields and now we're about to run into this island.
Gary.
Yeah. You all right?
No. We need help. The water is not running through the motor anymore.
I'm on my way home. I'll be there shortly.
You're a legend, bud. We'll be here waiting.
Float around.
Gary. So do we have a plan for not hitting the island?
I'm gonna paddle.
Don't worry, guys. I'm just gonna be over here making burritos. At least we won't go hungry.
My goal is to keep us away from the island until Gary gets here.
Don't worry, guys. I got two more burritos.
All right. Boredom is set in.
Oh, I almost broke my hand. I used to be able to go like that and then pull it around me like that while touching.
Ew.
Ew, ew.
That's sick.
I win. Garer.
Over here.
Gary.
It's a big raft.
We are the only ones on the water right now.
It just drives right past, is it not?
Oh, it might not be.
Hi.
Hi. Hi. That's not Gary.
Oh, no, it is Gary.
Thank you for coming to save us yet. This is what should be happening on our motor. Should be spitting water out like that.
I will go get you another motor. Does anybody want to go down to the house to get a motor? Maybe use the washroom, something like that?
That's cheating. I do. I want to, but I won't.
Anywhere there is good.
Thank you.
No problem.
All right, Gary's off to get us a new motor. He was not supposed to be part of this video at all. He is just a very, very nice neigh.
We love you, Gary.
So we decided it'd get really boring.
If all we did was sit out.
On the raft and eat.
And we've taken some inspiration from the show Survivor.
We have a few challenges that will make this experience more comfortable for one couple and a little less for the other.
So whichever couple wins two out of the three challenges gets the comfy bet.
It's on, baby.
Let's go, team.
Amen.
And back.
Comment in the section below who you think's gonna win.
This is on Kara and Nate's channel. We stand no chance.
Our friends. The first challenge is kind of like a newlyweds game where we're gonna see which couple knows each other best.
We're not married, but we've been engaged a long time.
When did you guys get together?
We went to prom in May 2007.
Doomed. Oh, boy.
Our friends Craig and Amy, the ones we threw in the water, went back to the UK and sent us some questions for this challenge.
They still are our friends in case you were wondering. Rules are simple. Each couple must write an answer. If you match answers, then you get a point. Okay, let's do five.
Yeah.
Okay, question number one. Name one thing that the girls do that annoys the boys. So you're gonna write what Nate finds annoying about you?
Nothing.
You're perfect. You for me. Okay, ready?
I don't find anything annoying about her.
She's beautiful.
Yeah.
This is hard.
Can't think of anything.
Just wanna point out Beck and I are done.
Obviously I'm annoying.
1, 2, 3.
Do they match?
Did you write talking about poop?
No. What did you write? Putting things back in the wrong spot. Yeah.
Dang it.
Ooh, that bed is gonna be comfy.
Oh no. Nate.
Okay, focus.
Yeah, my brain is not working.
Who is the boys celebrity crush?
Oh my gosh. This is the worst. Nate doesn't like anyone.
Why am I writing? And I don't hear any writing back there.
I don't know Nate at all.
I can't even think of the girl's name. What a Crush.
Everyone has 10 seconds. I'm sorry, but this game can't go on forever. 3.
Kara.
I hate timers. They make me nervous and I can't think.
Three, two.
I can't. I can't think of any female celebrities.
Then you disqualify even know that are celebrities.
There's one right here.
Three, two, one.
Penelope. No.
Me.
So if y' all win one more, this is over.
Oh, question number three. If the girls could be one animal, what would they be?
I have as much confidence in this question as I did the first two.
10.
She only started writing 1, 2, 3.
You better not have written me again.
At least we all lost.
Question number four. If the boys could only eat one meal for the rest of their lives, what would it be?
Don't have to count for this one, baby.
You going down second.
We just talked about this like you said.
Three.
Stuck to my guns.
Two, one. What'd you write?
Cereal. Yes.
We talked about this. We said. We said.
Woohoo. Mad at you. We said. We said sushi. We said if favorite food comes up sushi. You did. That was the plan. That was for me. You guys talking about this on camera? I must think about these questions.
Wow, even cheating can't beat aiming.
And Beck, you're favorite fan of cereal. Just say it.
Yeah, I would eat cereal for the rest of my life.
Thank you.
We need to move on.
I need to get some energy out.
Welcome back.
You didn't have any plans for this afternoon, did you?
No, I Kind of figured I'd be on rescue duty.
There you are, buddy. She's a relic. I had her running this spring.
This spring?
Near fall, Gary.
Oh, she's sitting nice too.
Yeah, she is beautiful.
Muffins, hot chocolate.
Hopefully this will keep us warm tonight.
Oh, yeah, it's going out at the back.
Is it?
Yep.
There you are.
It's in the sea can over there.
For the next 48 hours. Okay.
Cheers, Gary. Thank you.
This is him.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Cheers, y'.
All.
Cheers, girls. Cheers.
See you, Papa Gary.
Have fun.
Uhoh.
Shoot. Come on.
There he is.
Come on.
Do you think I can make the turn?
Oh, good catch.
Wow.
Motor almost fell off.
We are so helpless.
Yeah.
I'm gonna go home with Jerry.
Will.
Oh, shallow.
Wow. Wait.
You'Re going down.
All right, so we're doing this?
Yeah, we're doing it.
Oh, get in the water.
Okay, everyone. One, two, three, let go of the dock. One, two, three, let go of the dock.
All right, last one with the dry newspaper wheels.
I can't.
I can't do it. I can't get ammo. Nate. I'm out. I just sink like a rock. Oh, my gosh. I can't believe you're leaving behind me. Sorry, Sarah.
She's kicking me.
Sorry. You're doing so good.
I'm singing, baby.
I'm tapping out.
No.
Oh, she's down. All right. Come on, baby.
Admirable job, Kara. You look so strong. You could do this all day. Eamon's swimming back to the cabin.
Baby, you're so strong.
You got it.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little embarrassed at how quick I tapped out of that one.
Just cave, Kara.
I think we gotta be good.
I saved $50 on an electric scooter.
Cracking jokes, hurting him, mentally shaking just standing outside.
I want to cheer for both of you, but that's, like, not competitive, so.
Let'S have a good look here.
Maybe stop being funny and just focus.
It looks like you guys are reading the newspaper. I honestly don't know how they're still doing this. I know.
You guys look pretty cozy.
Hold on.
This is so stupid.
It just got really cold.
Forfeit.
Oh, I'm gonna be so warm in that bed.
This is honestly crazy. I tapped out in the first 60 seconds, and these guys have been for 20 minutes.
You can't beat the fish.
Got a nice warm towel here for you.
I'm sinking.
Look, I can touch the water, and I'm sinking.
She's done.
Cara.
So proud of you, Cara.
I love you. And that was incredible.
She's tough.
Competition.
She's tough.
I was literally about to give up.
No, you weren't.
I was.
I was.
I can't feel my legs now.
I think that was the most impressive thing I've ever seen you do.
Yeah, that was nuts.
Oh, I'm gonna hurt you in your sleep.
Me? Good job. We get the big butt. We get the big butt.
Are you okay?
Are you sure? Okay.
Get changed out of your stuff.
I think you're more mentally tough than I am. I literally made it for, like, 30 seconds.
I know. What was that crap?
The only good thing about Kara losing that challenge is that it means we don't have to do the third one, which is holding our breath and getting back in the water. So congratulations.
Your waist. Tough, man. Really tough.
You're strong.
Your foot is frozen.
Wow.
Oh, that's warm.
So good. Beck made us all a hot cup of tea. Eamon made us a fire pit. And I'm not shaking anymore.
What did you do, Nate?
Here for moral support.
What was going through your heads, both of you?
Anytime I thought about stopping, I'd just think about that bed.
Do you have any thoughts out there, Eamon?
Like, don't slow down. You can do this. It's only in your head. And then I would look up, and there was this, like, little blue patch, and I was picturing our friend Lee just saying, don't quit. Just keep going.
Slightly unfair.
We have a guardian angel, so it's pretty unfair. Yeah.
She gave you that extra boost, didn't she?
To treading water.
Now come back here.
Correct.
I'd like to.
Cheers to friendship. Nobody I'd rather be on a raft for 48 hours with.
Aw.
I love you guys.
Crying because it's so beautiful.
Cars come back for us.
Okay, don't look.
Anybody you want to talk about anything.
We'Ll just listen to the sound effect.
Wow.
This is scenic.
I think that that was the second most scenic pee of my life. Antarctica is pretty hard to beat. I think this one's the ladies room. Unlike lunch, I'm actually gonna cook us dinner tonight. And I'm making my specialty. And by specialty, I mean the only thing I really know how to make.
This is one of the best cooking settings I've ever had. From outside, we have these lights and.
Our best friends in the world.
We're doing absolutely nothing this evening, and I feel like the king and queen of the rap.
What happened?
We lost the driver.
Do you think it's on ground?
Yeah. I mean, it's still, like, it's still connected to the controller, so it didn't go in the water.
Tonight's taking an unexpected turn.
So I saw it, like, in between these, like, two tallest trees. It ricocheted in between the two.
I can't see where I'm going at all. Straighten out.
Yeah, no, you're good.
I see it.
But it's in a tree really.
High.
Oh, no.
This is just all a disaster.
And we're also moving fast right now, y'. All.
Whoa.
We're about to crash into the land.
Oh, this is a bad idea. Look at this tree.
Oh.
Okay, Beck, hold on to that branch and just keep an eye on all the trees. Yeah, that one, that one, that one.
Okay, girls are staying on the raft, holding down the fort here. Guys are going to look for the drown.
Ready?
Break.
Break.
Nice.
Wow.
Hey, bear.
Look out for bears.
Hey, bear. Oh, my God, this is scary. Hopefully the bears are hibernating. Oh, there it is.
You see it?
Yeah, see it?
Oh, nice. Wow.
Oh, yes.
Bro, it's not even that high.
Come here, baby.
It looks like it's in good shape. Mission successful. A little break here.
Oh, bummer. Most importantly, we have the footage. Now I just have to get back without being eaten by a bear.
We got it.
You so happy you found it.
Thank you. Everyone on the help with the extracurricular adventure.
Let's have a look at the motor.
I think we paddled.
Oh, it's hot.
Why do we keep breaking all those motors?
Oh, yeah, baby.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Come on, baby.
Come on, come on.
Oh, and the pole cord is not even going.
I knew this experience was going to be crazy, but I honestly didn't think it would get this crazy.
Forward.
Backward.
This is home for the night.
All right, all right.
We are officially stranded.
Well, it's a beautiful night, though.
How you doing?
Ready for ramen?
Here's your long awaited ramen, madame.
Thank you.
Whoa.
Spicy af as requested.
Oh, how many calories per plate?
Man, it is actually heavy.
It's heavy. Yes.
That's at least a pound of ramen noodles.
I'm a little nervous. It has no flavor.
Oh, my God.
It's packed.
Really?
Yeah.
It's unreal.
Tons of flavor.
The edamames are nice, though. Very key.
Wow.
11:30.
Wow.
Is it really?
Time goes by too fast when we're together.
Good night, guys. Enjoy the comfy bed.
Good night.
Good night, guys.
Feel free to come snuggle if you.
Guys better luck tomorrow night.
And y' all are going down tomorrow.
It's quite Comfortable?
Not as comfy as this bed.
Hey, we'll see you in the morning.
Apparently this thing makes coffee.
It's like a mini espresso shot.
What? This coffee looks like water. Plan B.
Morning.
Oh, so stiff.
You think you would have been more stiff if you would have just not treaded water and taken the worst bed Possibly.
Here.
Good morning.
Thank you.
Had your base sleep?
I also slept great, but I don't want to rub it in.
I don't think I woke up.
You have a special talent for sleeping.
This raft is too nice to each other.
It's disgusting.
So it turns out the espresso maker does work. It was just user error.
Cheers.
I think it tastes good, but it's friggin hot.
Okay, we have officially survived the first.
24 hours on the raft. The second 24 hours is going to be over on Eamon and Beck's channel. We'll leave a link in the description and in a pinned comment.
It's bound to be an interesting day. You don't want to miss it. The fight for the bed continues. Kara and I have to prove that we actually do in fact love each other. And I'm not sure this motor's going to start, so.
Also, we're running out of food.
That's why you should watch.
Also, we'll leave King Ant's channel down below. You should go subscribe. It's the least we could do since they let us toss them in the water at the beginning of this video.
Even though this is our first time meeting up in real life, both Eamon and Beck and Craig and Amy are truly the most genuine, kind, and most of all hilarious people we have ever met. The amount of joy and laughter this week has brought us is indescribable. They make us better people and we are so grateful for these friendships.
Joe's are not the best.
They're breaking apart, these guys.
Channel's gonna end soon, so just come on over and subscribe to our.
These are really hard, Craig. It.
