ALPACA SELFIES with SPECIAL GUESTS :)

A vlog-style YouTube video by Nate Buchanan documenting a day in Cusco, Peru with his partner Kara and Nate’s parents. Scenes include meeting local musician Ricardo, receiving Allbirds shoes, exploring the large San Pedro market, and joining a free walking tour led by a guide named Elvis (mentions Machu Picchu, Inca history, alpacas). The tone is informal, travel-focused, and family-oriented.

She's looking.
Today's gonna be a good day.
It's a very exciting day because two very special people are arriving. One has made an appearance on the vlog before and the other one has not. So we're not sure if they're here yet, but I can't wait anymore. So we're about to head over to their hotel.
You'll see. We're extra excited because we have been living in our own filth in our Airbnb, catching up on work and videos and stuff, because we haven't had Internet for, like, two weeks.
That's what happens when you go to the Amazon. So we're excited to get out and explore the city with the two very special people.
And then I have acoustic tools.
So you choose.
I give it to you.
And the clapping is from Guay. No, from the coastal music.
So I was walking out the door to go meet people that we haven't told you about yet, and I ran into Ricardo. He saw the camera and asked if we made videos.
I say hi to you. When you were coming in last night.
I saw you as well. So he saw our camera and asked if we made videos and then told me that he was a musician and asked if we would like any traditional Peruvian music to use in our videos. So, of course we said yes. And he proceeded to come in and show us all of his music. It's like Peruvian with a mix of electronic music. I really think it's going to be pretty perfect for our Peruvian vlogs. I'm really excited.
He was super nice. So we're gonna link all of his stuff in the description if you want to listen to the rest of this music.
And now we are on our way to the hotel.
Hey, what's up? Hey, girl.
How are you?
Good. How are you?
Good. Your place is sweet.
Look at this.
Beautiful.
Hola. Welcome to Peru.
So these are our two special guests, my mom and my dad. And they're gonna be here in Peru with us for the next week as we explore Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Did you bring us the stuff? What stuff? Yes, I brought it.
So we try not to buy a lot of souvenirs and stuff since we travel full time. And anything we buy we have to carry. Really. I just don't have room for any new stuff. But when people come to visit us, we like to have them bring us stuff if we need it, then we can send home our old stuff. So in this case, Nate and I both have Nike Freeze. We love them. We've worn them to 37 countries over the last 15 months and they've been really good to us. But they're both getting a little grody. So I was on the hunt for the new perfect travel shoe. So I found these new shoes called Allbirds online. They're made out of merino wool from New Zealand and they looked awesome. So we sent them an email and told them our situation and they sent us some.
Bring the shoes.
Are you ready?
Do it.
These are awesome. I got the green ones.
Very similar to your other ones.
I obviously have a style that I am a fan of, so these are pretty gross. Time to upgrade.
First impressions. They're super soft. It's super light and I think I love them.
So soft. Old. Needed new shoes. New. And the most important thing is squish down completely flat so that we can put them in our bags first.
We are going to the San Pedro market to look for some lunch. I'm wearing my new shoes. I'm gonna try not to get them too dirty. But so far so good. I love how soft they are. I don't have to wear socks.
The ice cream cones are white and they're up.
They have camels here.
The market was huge and super cool. The whole left side of it was food. We saw a lot of brains, hearts, noses, tails. So we decided not to eat there this time. And we have a restaurant recommendation that we have some. Yesterday was supposed to be really good and it just started raining, so we're gonna eat now.
Lunch was delicious. Highly recommend. The sandwich place that I can't remember the name of already. So after lunch, we went back to our place, got our raincoats and our umbrellas. Since it's my parents. One of two days here in Cusco, even though it's raining, we're going to try to make the most of it. We're about to start a free walking tour.
We just started our walking tour. Our guide's name is Elvis. He's speaking on like this microphone, but the speaker is like in his pocket, so it's kind of hard to hear him. I don't know if I'll be able to use a lot of audio from this tour like I normally do. But we'll try to remember what we learned and recap at the end.
Machu Picchu. 170 houses and 207 wonders here.
3,000. Yes.
Big city already. We would have plazas, corridors. We would have inkaterases, aqueduct system, drainage systems. The city had to be designed by somebody. And design means the distribution of the space correctly.
We just learned that this is Peru's national tree and they make tonic water out of it. Fascinating.
Wait, which one? I thought it was this one.
Oh, that one, I think.
Are you sure? No, I think this is Peru's national tree.
That's what I was pointing at.
Oh, wait.
It might not be correct.
One of these.
I'm loving this tour. Our guide is very enthusiastic. We just learned that there's 1.5 million people in Cusco and 2.5 million stray dogs, which explains why they're everywhere.
I don't know if it's 1.5 million in Cusco alone, but, like in the Cusco region.
Inca world.
Yes.
We thought that with all the due respects to the Spanish people. That's spaniel.
Yes. This is espanol. This is Inca.
Have you noticed that? Happiness for them. Right. When they make that movement, you know, it's like a little baby doing like. Yeah, she's very happy. Right here we have two giant alpacas. They are alpacas. Yeah. None of them is lama alpacas. There are only eight monks.
And now that's the door of the palace of the Cardinal of Cusco, city of the church.
So we just finished our free walking tour. It is about 6:30.
It was really good.
It's freezing cold.
It is cold. Learned a lot about the history and the Incas. Link their website below if you want to book it when you come here.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
It's really good. It's family business.
Mama, Daddy. How was your first free walking tour? Great.
I was really good.
Makes you run over by a Volkswagen.
Had two. Now we're going to dinner.
We just learned that this is tourism National Trail tree. That one.
No.
