AMAZiNG SUNSET | Victoria Peak | Hong Kong

This is a first-person travel vlog by Nate and Kara Buchanan documenting their final full day in Hong Kong. In this segment they search for coffee and struggle to upload a vlog, reconnect with a favorite pork-bun vendor on Shanghai Street (buying buns for about “18”, described as under $2.50), take the MTR to Diamond Hill to visit a temple, gardens and a nunnery, ride up to Victoria Peak for sunset timelapses, sample local snacks (including sweet-potato ice cream at McDonald's), and comment on logistics and costs (e.g., a transit ride costing about $1.50). The clip mixes on-the-spot narration, food highlights, and scenic footage.

This is our last full day in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, it's the weekend and our favorite coffee shop doesn't open until 11 o'. Clock. Pretty sure I saw a Starbucks at some point when we were wandering around the city. So we're searching for that right now. Walking and searching for things never goes well before Kara has coffee. First try. Give me some.
Two and a half minutes left of Wi Fi. YouTube says I have one minute remaining. Let's hope that they're right.
The joys of trying to upload the vlog from a coffee shop. It's not looking promising.
Four.
Can I tell you from my phone?
Two, one. And now what? Personal hot spot to the rescue.
It works. I totally work.
We are craving some pork buns this morning.
Trying to find where to get them.
We're going with the and hope something looks good strategy. Usually not a good one when we're hungry.
If you were a pork bun stand, where would you be?
The see what looks good strategy didn't work because deep down inside, all I wanted was the same pork bun and onion bun that we had the other night. Taking quite the risk. Here we are going all the way across town. We have no clue if this place is open for lunch.
We are going to be very disappointed if they're closed.
But the onion bun that I had the other night was by far my favorite thing I've had since. Since we've been in Hong Kong. So it's worth the rest.
We're back on Shanghai Street. It's almost the moment of truth. I'm so nervous. There's lots going on down here. I'm hopeful. What percent chance do you think that it's open?
Thinking there's like a 75%.
Oh, okay.
It is Saturday. If it was a weekday, I would be a little more nervous.
I think it's closed. No. I see our man that invited us back into the kitchen. It's looking hopeful. Oh, my gosh, yes. Our friend and their onion buns. I'm so excited.
I'll take one pork bun and one of these.
Yes.
How much for all these, Nate?
Like 18. Like less than $2.50 for the greatest buns in the world.
So worth it.
Worth the trek.
Lunch was fabulous.
Now we're going to a temple, some gardens and a nunnery. Whatever that is.
Started right here. We connected here and now we are riding the subway all the way to Diamond Hill.
Whoa, baby.
We've been in a lot of temples since we've been on this trip. That is definitely the prettiest. I don't know if the video is going to turn out at all. But I tried to capture like five seconds of it.
Gardens were pretty. The temple was a temple.
So don't know what a nunnery is. Just research on that one.
And now we're going to ride a bus to the top of the mountain.
We were gonna go to another temple, but we thought that might be cutting it close on daylight. Oh, this sun is terrible.
I think it's wonderful.
Since it took much longer than expected to get up the mountain last night, we're gonna leave ourselves plenty of time tonight.
Just in the nick of time. Tonight is going so much better than last night.
I love the outdoors and I love to hike. But what we did yesterday or what we attempted to do yesterday was not a hike. It was a bunch of concrete stairs with a bunch of concrete buildings around us. And I would just munch around and pay. How much did we pay to go?
I paid like a dollar fifty a.
Piece a dol to just ride to the town and enjoy the new ones on.
We'll say if Cara seemed a little bratty in yesterday's vlog, she wasn't feeling well. But she tried to tough it out to climb the mountain with me. So she's not as bad as she seems. Yeah.
What can I do?
Hope this looks as cool in the camera as it doesn't really light. We made it to the top. Slightly colder than expected. Are we gonna make it till it gets dark? No. That is the Ferris wheel that we were at last night. That's the cruise ship that we saw when we were riding across the harbor. And if I'm right on both of those, then we should be staying like right there.
Oh, my gosh.
We did it.
I'm so cold.
I'm so proud of us.
These next two time lapses may be a little longer than normal. You better.
You bet.
Almost felt out the escalator.
You better watch.
All of them just stood outside in the freezing cold for an hour release.
Hurry. I'm hungry. We want fun. They are serious about their spitting here. No, no. Next time.
We come back to Hong Kong, I'm booking a hotel right here so I can come down and eat this for lunch and dinner. Everything. Just look at this.
Doesn't look. Isn't it? It really does make it looks. It tastes like a hundred times better than it was.
I like big buns and I cannot lie.
Give it back to me.
Stupid thing. Love ice cream and like trying new things. Sweet potato ice cream at McDonald's was a must.
Ew he acted like he didn't like it, but he is still eating the ice cream cone.
We had a lot of people ask how we get our vlogs in such good quality. These guys right here have been following us around for, like, the last three weeks. They just won't leave. Kara, why are you walking back up the stairs?
Because you love me as spring again.
Oh, so quiet and peaceful.
These gardens. Brad honking.
This is the nunnery. All right, no photos.
Let's go this way. I'm gonna do.
