Nate and Kara Buchanan are heading into the Amazon for a week with no internet. They're catching a 4:15 AM flight to a remote lodge, then taking a deeper Amazon cruise inspired by the book River of Doubt. Follow their Instagram for real-time updates while they're offline.

So I feel like we should start this video out by explaining the clothing situation. Why I'm in a collared shirt and Kara's in a white undershirt. We're doing laundry currently and I don't wear my collared shirt enough for it to get dirty.
And this is my only clean shirt. So sorry about that. This is going to be another one of those videos where we sit here and talk the whole time and tell you that we are not going to be able to vlog for the next week. Please don't get mad at us.
South America's been really tough because there's been like all of these really amazing adventures, but they're like really far away from civilization, which means there's no WI fi. And we have another one of those coming up tomorrow.
Since we just did one of these explaining our Galapagos trip, I'm sure you're wondering how that went. It was a blast. But sorry that we haven't had a chance to upload those yet. Our vlogs are so behind. We've just been doing too many fun.
Things and so confusing. So right now, what are they watching? Bolivia. So right now you're watching Bolivia? We made the announcement about the Galapagos. We still have a couple more videos in Bolivia. Then we'll fly to Quito, Then we go to the Galapagos. Now we're back in Quito and now we're going somewhere without Wi fi. Again, I'm really sorry.
We promise we'll catch up one day, right?
I wouldn't make that promise.
If you follow us on Instagram, you got a sneak peek of the Galapagos? Because I instastory everything anytime.
We have like a little bit of WI fi cara post to Instagram. So if you wanna keep up with us in real time, Instagram's the best way to do that. That'll be the first link in the description below.
So just a little update if you haven't followed us on Instagram. Our best friends Jordan and Julianna have been in Quito with us the last four days and we got to celebrate Nate's birthday with them.
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Nate. Happy birthday to you.
Yay. Thanks for coming, Jordan and Julianne. That was really special. And also last night was my official birthday and the owner of Royal Galapios and his wife took us out for a really nice dinner. So I just wanted to say a special thank you to Jim and Danny for making my birthday extra special.
So now I'm sure you're wondering why we're not going to be able to upload for the next week doing time.
Should we talk about, like, the flight situation?
Let's do that.
At the end, we are going into the Amazon. So we're going to be staying at a lodge that, like, you literally have to take a boat two hours down the Amazon river to this lodge that's in the middle of nowhere. And we'll be there for three nights. And then straight from there, we're going on a cruise that goes even deeper into the Amazon. So we're gonna have zero connection to the outside world for an entire week.
Then we actually are going to Machu Picchu.
We have a couple days in between. We'll probably do another one of these and tell you that we're gonna be at Machu Picchu. And.
I'm like, so excited about the Amazon. So probably, I don't know, a year and a half or two years ago, I read this book called river of Doubt. And it's about Teddy Roosevelt. It's exploring this Amazon tributary that had never been at spores before. And like, this, their whole team, like, dying of crazy diseases and animals. And like, ever since I read that book, I wanted to go to the Amazon. I'll also link that book down below because it's one of my favorite books I've ever read and I think everybody should read it. But, like, I'm so excited about this week. But I'm also really sorry that we're.
Not gonna have WI fi again. It's definitely not gonna start off super fun. We're gonna try to go to bed really early to. We are getting picked up at 1:15 in the morning for our flight. The airport's like an hour drive from Quito. Our flight is at 4:15. This leaves at 4:15 in the morning.
Those things that I booked like two months ago. And it sounded like a lot better idea then.
Who does that?
Anyway, that's the announcement.
We promised we wouldn't take a week off for no reason. We're gonna make up for it with really good videos. Please don't forget about us if we.
Don'T die on Amazon, get a crazy disease or get eaten by animals.
Okay.
Birthday ice cream.
