ATHENS DAY TRIP | Corinth, Epidaurus, & Nafplio

A first-person travel vlog by Nate Buchanan (with Kara Buchanan and Jordan) documenting a one-day road trip from Athens to Corinth, Epidaurus, and Nafplio. The group rents a car, visits Corinth (castle/ancient site), experiences the famed acoustics and ruins at Epidaurus, and explores Nafplio for dinner and gelato; the video emphasizes local food, casual banter, and on-the-road discoveries.

It is 8:30. The girls are back at the apartment and Jordan and I are heading to pick up a rental car.
What are we doing today, Jordan? Planting. Like all of today.
We're just gonna take a day trip. We don't know exactly where we're going. Definitely gonna start out by going to Corinth, check out some of places where Paul used to hang out.
And then we'll see. See where the wind take.
Whoa.
What in the world?
Now that's service.
The noble steed has arrived. Not him, the car.
We got the car going to pick up the girls, but there's a car parked there.
Good morning.
How's the leg room back there, ladies?
Not that fast.
Jordan wanted me to give him directions off the paper map. Okay. We're just. We're just.
Okay. He was just telling me to go. That's called trusting a local.
There.
It feels like driving in, like.
I don't know.
I feel like I'm in.
Los Angeles. Angeles?
Nobody speaks English here.
Give us your money.
210. It's more expensive than a euro.
I could eat an entire pork euro with extra sauce for this price.
Give us your money.
Give us more money.
We've arrived in Corinth, but nobody's had breakfast. So we're going to grab some food and then do some research on what there is to do here besides see really old rocks. Not exactly the most hopping town.
I'm a Canuck.
Tara, I need you to admit to your cheese addiction on camera.
My name is Kara Buchanan and I am completely obsessed with cheese.
That's true. Fried cheese, saganaki, feta, pita.
Greek coffee, bread, tzatziki.
Oh, my gosh.
This feta.
How's the saganaki?
Fantastic.
I love feta.
What do you love, Julianne?
This great coffee. It's delicious.
Have you gotten to just the grounds in the bottom of the cup yet?
No, not yet.
So I'm still enjoying it.
So Nate told you what we were gonna do? We really didn't have much of a plan, so we talked to our Canadian waitress and she was totally pumped to help us out. So we're gonna go check out some things in Corinth before we go. And then we're gonna go to this little town.
Angry.
Why are you so mad?
So we're gonna go to this little.
Town on the coast. We're gonna have dinner here.
We're gonna have some gelato here. She said it was the absolute best gelato in Greece. I know Karen's excited.
So we're looking.
Forward to this gonna be a good day.
Our waitress back at the restaurant recommended that we climb to the top of this rock. So that's where we're heading first.
It.
No, it's locked.
So we've done all of the big things there are to do in Athens the last two days. And we wanted to see a different part of Greece out in the countryside. And we wanted to be able to say we've been to Corinth when we read 1st and 2nd Corinthians for the rest of the our life. So that's how we ended up on the top of this castle in Corinth that we didn't know existed until today.
We had no clue what we were doing today. We picked a few cities on the map that we wanted to drive to and we just took off. That little black car right down there is ours. I think we can officially say we walked off our cheese.
Carrot. Get up there.
Oh, that's really big. That was really loud.
Bye. Bye. Bye. Thanks. You too. It started raining while we were hiking.
There was a 10% chance of rain today.
Not gonna let any rain hold us back. This is our only day in Corinth.
There's the ancient town of Corinth.
I mean. Yeah, it's like right there.
Yeah.
I feel like I'm seeing it.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's raining, so we're moving on.
I feel good about it.
Plus, it's already 2 o' clock and we still have two other cities to visit. Where are we going next?
We're going to the Epidaurus Theater. Apparently the acoustics of the Epidaurus Theater have never been able to be replicated. They're apparently the best in the world for an ancient theater.
Pretty cool.
What are these?
Kira will be doing a lot of singing Pit stop for snacks.
We have about an hour drive for our next destination, so we thought we'd stop and get some snacks.
I'm not proud of this.
We all agreed that we like Cheetos, so we got a jumbo bucket of Cheetos. An entire bucket filled to the top of Cheetos. This is my dream come true. It's really hard to find cheese flavored things anywhere. But in America, I can never find any cheesy things. So I've been like really gravitating towards Cheetos lately.
I don't think we've eaten enough cheese.
Yeah, I think the cheese. Cheese for breakfast, cheese for dinner. Last night.
I'm gonna take this from you.
Amphitheater better be good.
Oh, doesn't like my ticket.
There we go.
We are now in the ancient town of Epidaurus because our waitress told us to. To come here. Yet to be determined if it was worth the drive.
Hold on a second. This is pretty cool.
Yeah.
So right here, you see this big square.
Of rock with little squares right here? These were hotel rooms. And this whole thing is basically an ancient Roman hotel.
160. 60 rooms.
We've gone with the divide and conquer strategy. Julianne's reading about that one. Jordan's reading about that one.
Kara's leaving.
This place is known for its acoustics. Just listen to this. I hope the camera picks it up.
So crazy.
That is pretty incredible.
Yeah.
To sing that way.
Even my shoes.
I know.
Whoa.
That was so cool.
I wish I.
They're making fun of you.
You sing here.
See if I can hear you. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 58, 59, 71, 72, 73. You can do it. Finish strong. Okay.
That's a lot of sing.
They look so tiny. You can hear.
I know what they're singing, but it's pretty.
Yeah. It's quieter than I thought it'd be. Smile makes you run further.
You gotta finish, you gotta finish.
Oh, so tired. There's so much me. So many more than I thought. Was I loud? I was talking so quietly, and I felt like I was using a microphone.
I mean, I could hear you, which is crazy.
Yeah. If you were talking quietly, I could hear you.
I was literally. This was my tone. Hello, it's me.
Come on.
Here we are crossing the street and vlogging. We're in the town of Nap Pleo. It's on the coast, and it's a nice little quaint town. It's got some great shops, a little bit of tourism, but it looks kind of cool. So we're about to do some exploring. Unfortunately, it's still raining.
So thankfully.
The two things our waitress gave us to do. Or eat, which is inside. And eat ice cream, which can also be inside. No more cheese, Kara.
Well, I'm getting cheese.
Joanne's gonna want to live here. She's gonna want to live here. She's gonna want to live here.
Yep.
Warning, Live here alerts.
So we ended up overruling our waitress's recommendation for our way today because the restaurant that she recommended looked kind of mediocre.
There are a lot of tourists there. So instead we came to this one because is in English.
And our waiters don't speak English either, which is always a good sign.
I got good bonds. I got the Greek salad, which I believe is my Third Greek salad in a row. When salad is, like, almost as good as other food, I feel like I have to take the opportunity to be healthy.
I got the secret fried pork. We'll see what we get there.
The secret is being revealed.
Thank you.
Wow, this secret smells Asian.
It looks Asian, which means you're gonna love it.
I'm so happy.
It's 100% soy sauce.
Nate, how does this salad compare to all your other salads?
I think it's my favorite because they put the hard bread in it, soaked up all of the olive oil at the bottom. I would call it a crouton, but I don't think that's what it's technically referred to as here. I'm not gonna say dinner was bad, but it's definitely our least favorite meal that we've had since we've been in Greece, which we've had a lot of good meals, so it had a lot of competition. We're hoping to redeem it now with what we've heard is, like, the best gelato in all of Greece. Owned by some Italian guy. Very high hopes. Here we go. Hello. Thank you very much.
Cheers.
Oh, my gosh.
Got him.
I eat fin.
No, you've eaten half of five times.
No, I've eaten half at a time. Like, when I eat of one bite, you already eat three.
I'm not kidding. This is how I eat. I literally. That's true. I take bites.
This is three baits.
Buns of stone.
You haven't made very much. Whoa.
What?
It was just a huge fire behind.
