So we tried to buy a drone off of Amazon when we were in Germany. Then we tried to go to a store and buy a drone in Germany. Then yesterday afternoon after our food tour, we went to a store across town, tried to buy another drone.
Hello. This is awesome.
Look at this one.
So you need the Phantom 4. That's what I'm thinking. Which version? With one battery, two batteries or just one battery? We're leaving droneless. That didn't work. So we're droneless. And the drone saga continues.
We had this dream of droning over Lake Bled where we're going today. It's this gorgeous lake with this huge church in the middle.
But our little cameras will have to do from the shore.
We're droneless. I'm sure it'll still be a great day. We're going to jump on public bikes and try to catch the 10 o' clock bus out to Lake Blood Already not off to a good start. There's only one bike available.
I don't know if we have time to walk or not.
I guess we should start walking fast.
We made it to the bus station with about 10 minutes to spare. Now we just have to find an ATM and figure out how to buy tickets within the next 10 minutes. There's an information booth. Those look like tickets. These look like tickets.
Looking promising. Oh, this is very nice. We're at the train station, not the bus station. Hello. Is it possible to buy tickets for Lake Bled here? Got the tickets with a couple minutes to spare.
Thank you.
Here we go.
Took less time than I thought it would.
We just arrived at Lake Bled. The bus ride only took like 45 minutes. I had heard 70. So very rare that a bus ride takes less time than expected. And the drive out here was absolutely beautiful.
We just got dropped off in the middle of this gorgeous nature area. Everything is green and beautiful.
The air smells fresh.
We only have one day here and there's so much to do. So I think we're gonna start with a hike and a picnic.
Well, we've been told if we hike like over to the other side of the lake, there's this viewpoint that we can hike up to. Yeah, we've got some food in the backpack.
That's probably 10ft deep and you can see straight to the bottom.
Rolling.
There's the castle and there's the church. Kara's enjoying the views.
We have officially made it to the other side of the lake. It is so pretty. It kind of reminds us of New Zealand. Like so pretty. It doesn't even look real.
And now, thankfully, we asked somebody. There's no way we ever would have found this tiny trail head into the woods. I think it's like a 45 minute hike up to an awesome viewpoint.
It's this little bitty head right here.
It's hidden back in the woods over here. We're hoping this is the right trail. It was really hard to find specific information about it on the Internet, so we're going totally off. What one lady told us. Kara says she was very nice, so she must be right.
I don't think she would lead us astray.
This isn't good. The trail goes that way and it also goes that way.
Right is always right. Actually, that looks like a creek. I think the trail might actually go that way.
We were starting to question if we were going the right way or not. And then we passed some nice people who told us this way.
Feeling much better.
We made it to the top. And now we're about to have a picnic with the most incredible view. This is our makeshift meat and cheese platter.
Isn't it pretty?
I'm so hungry. And we brought pickles. For some reason, neither one of us eat pickles very often, but it sounded good this morning.
That was such a fun picnic with the best view ever. It was starting to get a little crowded, so we left. But one suggestion. If you come here, go to the grocery store and buy some snacks for a picnic up there instead of eating at one of the restaurants.
Down on the ground, there's literally a grocery store like five minutes from the trailhead where we started hiking with really good stuff. Now we are heading back down to rent some bikes. And there is a gorge with, like, an emerald river a few miles away from Lake Bled. We're gonna try to bike out there and then hike around the gorge.
We got the bikes. These are by far the nicest rental bikes that we've rented. All.
Right.
Should I look at a map and make sure this is the way we're supposed to go before we ride up this hill?
This is quite the hill. Oh.
Maps are telling us to go this way, which is a big construction zone and lots of gravel.
We only have these bikes for two hours, so not a lot of time for rerouting.
Gonna go and see if we get yelled at. Yeah, we're turning around. Can't run through the construction zone. Gotta backtrack.
The detour is proving to be quite the challenge. It's been all uphill for the last 20 minutes. Kara's somewhere back there. We're 45 minutes in and this is the first sign that we've seen. Looks beautiful, though. One kilometer. Kara, you wish you would have ridden the bus.
Kara's advice is to ride the bus.
Think about what a good workout you got.
We just got the bikes parked. That took almost like 50, 55 minutes. So now we have like 10 or 20 minutes to see the gorge. And it's €4 per person. But since we're here, we're gonna pay for it. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
She got a really good slow shutter pick and she's really excited about it.
I figured out how to use the slope shutter speed.
Blurry water.
Yes. Told ya. If you're not gonna have a picnic on the mountain where we did, this would probably be the next best place. The trail keeps going. Unfortunately, we have to get the bikes back, but it was totally worth coming out here. Absolutely beautiful.
Just because I got my blurry water.
So you think it was worth it? Yeah. That's a big deal. That one photo. She was not exactly a happy camper on the bike ride out here.
I wanted to ride the bus.
This is the picture on all the brochures. This is literally the clearest water I've ever seen. There's a fish. There's another fish. There's some fish underneath. There's a fish.
Beautiful. We gotta go.
I feel so good. Aside.
Bikes have to be back in 30 minutes. It took us an hour to get out here. The camera's going in the bag so we can ride fast.
Well, got the bikes back with time to spare.
So fast.
It literally took us like 20, 25 minutes to get back. We just flew downhill the whole way.
It was wonderful.
Almost worth riding uphill the whole way.
Almost.
Buses here leave on the half hour. We are on the other side of the lake. So the next one leaves in 15 minutes, which means there's no way we're going to catch that one. So we've got like an hour and 15 minutes to kill before we catch the bus back to Ljubljana.
Killing an hour and 15 minutes turned into power walking around a lake. This is way bigger than we thought it was, but I don't think it's left.
Go, go, go.
We're gonna go grab some bikes, drive home and call it a day.
Figuring out foreign washers is always an adventure. I don't know what this means.
This looks like they just kind of get sprayed.
What could 400 mean? I feel like this is probably temperature. I feel like cold is good. I'm gonna turn it because there's an arrow oh, gosh. I don't know. Let's just put it in the middle. Put that in the middle. Let's just put them both on five. Start.
Oh, it's going.
There's no water yet.
Water.
Water.
Maybe there's still no water.
Maybe it's best we stop it.
Stop?
Yeah. Let's open it that way. Just see what's happening. It sounds weird.
Use any soap yet?
You're covering up this thing with your head.
Covering up what thing?
The castle. Your head is literally right in front of it. Put it between it. Right here. No.
Okay, I'm done with this. There it goes right now.
