A travel vlog by Nate Buchanan and Kara documenting a beach day in Portugal: a drive to a beach (name starts with 'A' and is hard to pronounce), snorkeling possibilities, cliff jumps, snacks, and dinner in town featuring Portuguese dishes (sardine and tuna pâté, octopus rice, steak). The tone is casual, conversational, and humorous, with on-camera mishaps (a painful dive, a phone dropped in water) and local color (donuts sold on the beach, dining in the street).
Chapters
Today we are going to a new beach with rocks.
Yeah.
And potential snorkel opportunities.
I don't know what Smith.
About all we know it's like a 30 minute drive. But first. Oh, it's an hour. I bet everyone could guess where we were going. Yes, we've been so many times. The bingo doje standing by.
Pretty sure moves it, right?
Nice little.
I started to vlog in the pingo and then remember that Nate got in big trouble yesterday. Got some snacks. Kayla, why don't you share what you got?
I don't even want to talk about it.
I got these because I thought my husband would like them for 99 cents. What a steal. It was awesome. And then we realized we paid €11 and looked at the receipt and they were $9 for these stupid nuts.
Kayla will never buy nuts again.
Come on. Come on.
We can't go away.
We don't need.
We told me.
No way.
We're here.
We have arrived in some town that starts with an A that none of us can pronounce. Thought the vlog might get a little more exciting today with some snorkeling, but I think it's just going to be another lazy beach day.
We found a private beach all to ourselves.
It looks pretty seaweedy.
Nate, how long have you been looking for one of those chocolate donut sandwiches?
We found these the day that we went on our walking tour. And we have yet to find another one that has chocolate in the middle. They all make them with like this yellow cream. That's not very good. This man here is selling them on the beach. A beach that sells donuts. This is like my favorite.
Oh.
Thank you so much.
You try. No.
What are we about to do?
Going to jump off a rock to give this vlog a little more content.
Kayla's going with. Here we go. I'll be on the beach.
What happened?
Fold your hamstrings and your throat.
I crushed my throat and I pulled my hand.
What did it look like? Did it look like it hurt?
Not really.
Pretty graceful. How do you feel? Well, I just went for the regular jump, so I feel pretty good.
After watching the replay, I think what happened is I dope. I didn't know how it was possible that I hurt my throat and my hamstrings at the same time, but I think I went like this. And before I went in, I think I looked up. So I hit my throat on the water and then my legs flipped over my head in ways that my body hasn't bent in years. And that's why I'm currently in so much pain.
Let's roll the instant replay in slow mo.
Okay, So I feel like you gained wisdom in your old age and you stop doing fun stuff. I'm scared that because that last dive hurt so much, if I don't go back right now and try again to redeem myself that I will never dive again in my life.
I want to do it.
I'm so proud of you, Nate.
Let's go.
Oh.
That one didn't look too much better. Unfortunately, that one hurt worse or the same as last time?
It didn't hurt as bad, but my diving career may be over. It was still pretty painful.
What happens when you get old?
Still spat my throat. My hamstrings didn't cramp up, but I don't know.
That. The beach that we've been laying on all day, we can only show it from this far away because you can't see the naked people.
Was a great day at the beach. One of the most beautiful beaches that we have ever been to. Definitely. If you come to Portugal and you want to go to an awesome beach beach that starts with an A word, we'll link it below since we can't pronounce it. Only one bad part of the day. We found my phone in a pool of water sitting inside a bag. It's currently not turning on, but I'm hopeful.
She'S not.
We went back and showered and changed, and now we're going to eat dinner in the town. But we don't know where. Or do we?
Lagos Pica.
We're going to Lagos Pica.
We got seated in the middle of the road.
We didn't know this was gonna happen for a few hours.
Must be good.
I just feel like the time of this meal could get out of hand. So I'm just showing what time we started just in case.
Having my first pate experience tonight.
There's two different ones you can compare. Okay. This is the sardine.
This is a tuna. This one really smells like tuna. This one just smells like really, really fish, unfortunately. Which should I eat?
The sardine.
I want to know.
I just can't believe how, like, creamy it is. Like, what they did, they just put a sardine in a blender, like bones and all.
I don't know what pate is.
It's, like, super oily. We learned that you don't even have to use oil when you cook sardines. It's just naturally so oily. It's so soft.
Don't smell it again. I think I'm Eating cat food. I'm not skimp on this. I just want you to know I.
Am proud of you. That is a healthy serving.
You gotta go for it. I seriously, like, I'm eating cat food. Like, my body is telling me, don't do this.
Okay.
That was such a big bite.
It tastes like cat food.
I oddly kind of enjoyed that bite, though. You kind of enjoy the.
Oh, I just got a whiff of it right there.
Have you smelled it?
No.
It kind of smells like tuna fish.
It tastes like fish.
Proud of you. I don't think I'll be going back.
For more, but I didn't hate it.
There you go.
Wow, this is still bubbling. It almost came into my lava pants. Try your. What's it called?
Do it. Good.
Yes. I really, really, really like it. What'd you get?
Went with the octopus rice? I believe that is a piece of octopus. Yep. It was the special of the day.
That was really good.
Good.
Really salty.
Is it fishy?
I feel like the saltiness is kind of like the ocean in my mouth. And it's very tender. Much better than the octopus that I had in Zanzibar. That's five. The octopus we had in Zanzibar's room.
Temperature, just all around. Better meal than Zanzibar.
No, it's really good. All right. Portuguese steak it is. In a bowl.
With the gravy lava.
That's really good.
I got the bakla, the same as Cara, and there's lots of bones in it, so I'm gonna be careful.
Thank you.
Speaking of Bones.
2.
Kara. I won.
We're leaving at 11:30, which is when I said we.
You are officially the winner.
Obrigada. Sway.
Come on, come on. Wow, look at the dolphins.
Wow.
Look at the half moon with an egg in the middle. That is something.
Who knows how many naked people are in this video right now. Good.
That's gonna be in the bloopers. There's a pirate ship.
Des. 1965. Desda.
I'm gonna attempt to sound it out. Des Day. Nice. Nice. Okay.
I think it's been here since 1965. I think it's the same place that says Zika dika.
So does that.
That is the same.
