This is a short YouTube travel vlog transcript of Nate and Kara Buchanan arriving in Chiang Mai after a long multi-modal journey (about 26–29 hours). They immediately seek food, visit a highly recommended Indian restaurant (ordering chicken tikka masala, cheese naan and sauces), later explore a Saturday night market sampling street foods (dumplings, mango sticky rice, stuffed waffles) and note local prices and coffee. The tone is casual, travel-focused and food-centric, with repeated mentions of sleep deprivation, low budgets, and enthusiasm for local eats.

Nate had a hard time sleeping last night.
This was his position every time I woke up.
I think I probably slept for like 45 minutes last night.
Maybe another 45 after you moved out of my seat.
Was rough.
But we made it.
We're almost there. We made it through.
Looking ahead next time in the bed.
How long have we been sitting on our bed?
We left Yesterday morning around 9:30. It's now almost 11:30 the next day. And we have literally been sitting the entire time on a boat, a bus or a train for 26 hours.
26 hours.
I think we made it about an hour late, but we made it.
Finally 15 hours later.
Can I ask you if you saw the person getting arrested last night? No. Did you really not? No. It was like one of our million stops in the middle of the night. They pulled two guys off on arresting.
I think they were all stealing stuff. Maybe like how they were going through their bags. It was either drugs or stealing stuff. Oh my gosh.
I work hard every day.
Found this place online.
Haven't booked anything yet. Hopefully they have some availability.
Not quite as nice as the picture.
We made it. Now we're gonna sleep for the rest of our lives and then drink lots of coffee. We left Koh Tao Yesterday morning at 9:30. That's almost 29 hours of travel. Constant, no waiting. The vlog could be over. We could not make it out of this bed. Well, managed to pull ourselves out of bed. Going to find some lunch.
We'll call it Leonard since it's 2:45.
Yeah, fair enough.
I have not eaten since Nate gave me two Oreos where we went to sleep last night. And before that.
I hadn't eaten since the bag of Bugles and a Coke I had on the bus around this time. So I've had two Oreos in about 24 hours.
And no coffee. I'm about to not be a very pleasant person.
She's already going in that direction.
I get out of bottom bed. I put on my clothes.
A friend told us about this Indian restaurant that we had to come to when we came to Chiang Mai. And it turns out it was like two seconds down the road. So this is our first of many delicious food stops in Ch.
So there's a ton of people who have been to Chiang Ma has given us suggestions and vlogs to help figure out what to do. So pretty much everything we do this week is going to be so many.
Cool.
It's going to be great. Here's what we have so far. Chicken tiki masala, some cheese naan.
Happy name.
Added.
Naan made with love. Thank you. What is it called?
This mint sauce, this sweet tamarind sauce. Oh.
This form.
Okay. And I dip my naan in this.
Now we have three naans, special sauce, chicken tiki.
Very good.
Good job.
Once again, they have taken us under their wing and showed us how to properly with the sauces.
And the people who make it.
Oh, we get the gift of this for you. Oh, yay.
All right.
That is so nice.
Thank you.
We got our picture taken. Next time we come, we're gonna be on the wall here.
Greatest Indian restaurant in Chiang Mai.
And it's about time. I went 32 hours without coffee. That was a close one. This is espresso with banana and chocolate. And it was only like a dollar.
New morning routine approved by nate.
It's about 8pm we are a little tired, as you can imagine, after sleeping ish on a train all night and then putting ourselves in an Indian food coma.
We have convinced ourselves to get out of bed and go get dinner. It should be about a 20 minute walk to a night market that only goes on on Saturday night. So that's where we're headed now. Hopefully to find some good street food.
We probably need to walk a little bit after sitting for like an entire day.
My butt is legitimately sore. Like every time I bend over, it's like I worked out or something.
Yeah, it really hurts.
But it didn't work out. I just sat for 27 hours straight.
All right, let's go.
Kara hasn't had enough sleep.
We're feeling a little dehydrated.
Because we.
Didn'T drink anything basically for two days because we didn't want to have to pee on the bus.
The boat, or the train.
We should have made it a point to show you the bathroom on the train, which we're all hoping for. The very first 711 that we went to when we got to the border of Thailand, there was a snickers for 10 baht, which is like 30 cents. Ever since then, I've judged how expensive a city is based on how it's. When we were in Koh Tao for this little mini Snickers right here, I had to pay 37 baht.
Now this one is 15 and the big snickers is 20. So far, me and Chiang Mai are getting along.
That over there actually was not the night market. That's just the food stalls that are there every night.
That's the night market.
We found my favorite dumplings that are fried and crispy on the outside, like we had in Taiwan. And I'm so excited.
Nate can't help himself.
Mango sticky rice. Too tired to be adventurous tonight.
Stick with what you know. We found what looks like waffle on a stick.
And to pass up a stuffed waffle on a stick for 30 cents. Here's what's gonna make me mad, though. They have all this delicious breakfast food at the night markets. I'm gonna go out and wander the streets tomorrow, try and find some for breakfast. And it's not going to be anywhere to be found.
How's the onion coconut combo?
I'm a fan. Somehow for dinner tonight, we ended up getting three things that we've already had before.
Coconut patties that we got in siem reap dumplings that we got in Taipei.
And mango sticky rice that we had in Bangkok. I'm glad we made it out tonight.
Time to go home and sleep.
That's probably locked automatically.
I can't do it. You do it.
What the heck?
All we want to go is do is go eat.
We have not had enough coffee for this.
My toenail is stronger than metal. I snapped my fingernail clippers in here. Dang it.
