Nate and Kara spend a day in Santorini hiking 3.5 miles to Oia, eating baklava with mastic ice cream, and watching the sunset. They debate whether Oia's famous view beats other spots on the island, then grab gyros on the way back.

We spent the morning on our terrace enjoying this beautiful view. And now we're heading to our favorite falafel restaurant for lunch.
Yay. Quick impromptu shopping trip.
I saw these on the first day and I've been thinking about them ever since. I got a sailboat steering wheel and a square.
Because everybody needs a square.
Since we've been lounging around all morning, we decided we needed to work up our appetite before lunch. So we're going to walk all the way down there.
Who thought that was a good idea?
Because why not?
I think it was those two.
Just gotta watch out for the donkey boat you just stepped in.
Oh, man.
Good donkey.
We made it. About halfway down, we decided that we have worked up plenty of an appetite. So we're turning around and heading back up.
We have a big hike planned for this afternoon, but. But first we're going to get more falafel.
We're back.
Thank you very much.
Love these.
I don't feel like I've shown enough excitement on the vlog about how much I'm in love with this place. As soon as we got here, I fell in love with it. And it's one of those countries that I'm very sad to leave and, like, I already know we'll be back here.
It's not a country, it's an island. I mean, Greece in general, Santorini is like one of those places where I showed up and then after a couple days, I'm like, yeah, I could. I could live here. And it's just one of those places that, like, as soon as you walk out the door, it's entertaining. So, like, I could just walk around for days and be perfectly entertained. I'm, like, embarrassed of how content I am just sitting out on our front patio. I'm not embarrassed and, like, just reading a book or doing absolutely nothing and enjoying the views. And since we're enjoying walking around so much, this afternoon, we're going on a three and a half mile hike to Oia, which is that way as far as you can go. It's supposed to be absolutely beautiful.
And it's a beautiful day. It was supposed to be windy and cold.
Let's go.
Here we go.
I.
That's where we're walking to. Two and a half hours.
We're halfway there.
Whoa.
The trail has turned into volcanic rock.
The wind has picked up on the mountain.
Probably shouldn't have changed into my dress.
Hopefully it calms down. The further down we go.
The town of Oia is in our sights. We've done quite a bit of hiking. That's where we came from earlier today, actually, I think it was on the other side of the hill.
We're officially in Oia.
We read that the best baklava on the entire island is served at a restaurant. Is it a restaurant?
I don't know what it is.
That's where we're heading now to reward ourselves for the long hike.
But it's not chocolate, so I don't eat it. So I'm looking for chocolate ice cream. Oia is super pretty. Everything's like, more white here. It's pretty chill. Seems very classy.
Soaked with honey, but quite good. Honey that's barely.
Like, liquid, for lack of a better word. It's got some walnuts on top. Really good.
Good. Sea logo, crispy good. Is it the best.
Baklavat? I can certainly say I've never had better baklava. So we ordered the baklava with ice cream. We were all tasting some, like, funky flavor that just didn't seem quite right. We thought it was vanilla ice cream at first, but it turns out that it's mastic ice cream, which is the stuff that we learned about on the food tour that they used to chew as gum in the old days. And it has, like, a really earthy flavor, not vanilla at all. So that's what it was going to look at. All the people.
On every to do list you read on what to do in Santorini, they all say, watch the sunset from Oia. And we're here and it's very pretty. But we all pretty much decided that our balcony is just as good and we have our own private terrace and not all these people.
The sunset was beautiful, but I would argue that Oia is not the best place in Santorinia to watch the sunset because there were about 10 million other tourists watching it set with you. I think the sunsets all around the island are beautiful. And you have a lot more space to yourself anywhere else you go. This is what I was talking about. And this.
We are now going to catch the bus back to Fira, where we're going to get what we've heard is the best gyros on the whole island.
And then you have to fight the crowd to get on the bus.
Thank you. Yum. I could eat Greek food all day, every single day. Specifically feta cheese. I feel like I have to get two. Yeah, they're pretty together.
Why would you ever just get one?
Exactly. One's just too.
Not enough.
And on our terrace.
Is my wife.
Yeah.
Shoo. You guys stink.
Really making a mess here.
Oh.
There we go.
