BEST Way to Explore Copenhagen! (floating hot tub)

A travel vlog-style YouTube video (hosts Kara and Nate Buchanan) documenting a unique way to explore Copenhagen by water. The hosts rent a small solar-powered canal boat (noting sustainability and recycled-material construction), navigate the city canals, stop for a picnic, then switch to a separate experience: a floating hot tub heated by a fire (about 1.5 hours) from which they perform a polar plunge into the cold canal. The video mixes practical details (how the boat is powered, brief driving lessons, tying up) with experiential moments (picnic foods, marshmallows, cold plunge) and light humor about navigation mishaps.

Okay, I'm scared.
Good morning from beautiful Copenhagen.
We've already been in this city for a few days. We've seen some of the major things that you must see. We've eaten the things that everybody told us that we must eat. And today we're getting a unique perspective on the city.
But first, we're getting some picnic slides.
Some recommendations on where to go and.
How awesome is this? We have this little solar powered boat for the next few hours, and we're gonna explore the canals. We actually just got to meet the owner of the company. He is, like, the nicest person ever. He told us how to work the boat. He showed us this map and all the sights that we're gonna see along the way. And we brought some snacks to have a little picnic. But they gave us this blanket and a basket of wine and chips and local drinks.
So the super cool thing about these boats, and just like this company in general, is that it's super sustainable. These boats are actually made partially out of recycled PL bottles. And then this motor that you see behind me is a solar powered motor. It's kind of like a Tesla or an electric car. You plug it in, and they have solar panels on top of, like, that little building that we just stopped in. And that's what powers these boats. Okay.
Nate's gonna give me driving lessons.
Kara can drive this boat. Anybody can drive this boat. I think this is gonna go better than our paddle boat experience when we were in the Netherlands. I hope it's going to. You steer us.
Oh, gosh.
Why are we going into the bikes?
Put.
Make this go straight. Just hold it. No, just don't steer it. No, get right.
This makes it go forward. This makes it go backwards. Okay. Probably shouldn't go backwards right now. Or way. Not this way. Oh, I'm not good at this. I don't like we're turning around.
Why are you doing this? So why are you moving it so much? It's just small.
Why am I turning it? Help me. I'm just gonna make a swim. Okay, I'm calm. Nate's a much better driver than I.
How great is this? We've made our way into the center of the city, and we are just driving through the canals, like, right in the middle of the city. I can't believe that they just, like, give you the boats, no license or anything, and you can just take them out and go. I really enjoy, like, doing things on my own. And to me, this is like, 10 times better than being on one of the tourist canal boats where they take you around and have a microphone and just, like, tell you all about the city.
It feels like we have the canal all to ourselves. This is so fun.
It'd be very romantic if I was better at driving a boat and I didn't have to just constantly focus on what I was doing.
Better you than me. Thank you.
Something fun on the side of the canal. So we're trying to pull over, but the wind is really strong and it's proving to be a little difficult.
We're going to try not to smash the boat into this concrete wall.
I'm going to stop us.
Yes.
See ya.
Be waiting here. We're going to play.
There is a sidewalk made of a trampoline. How could we boat by this and not stop?
I love Copenhagen. This is the best. Oh, no. They're leaving me.
Okay, now. I tried to figure out how to get back on the boat.
Nice. Journey continues.
What are you doing?
One of our more challenging turns. We accidentally.
Watch your head.
That's a low one. That's crazy.
As tall as the Danish people. I would have hit in the head. I think we've gone astray. Pretty sure we should turn in front of the opera house. Oh, I don't like this. This is not part of it. We've done this to ourselves.
Oh, shoot. Out we go.
Out we go. Wow.
We made it.
That was stressful.
We wanted a unique adventure today.
Don't turn right right after the opera house.
What do I do? Do you know how to tie a.
I literally have no idea. We have two ropes. Oh, look, there's a. So that goes around here.
All right.
We're gonna attempt to tie up the boat for lunch. First we have to get over there.
What did I do?
Okay.
Here we are.
Now what?
Oh, look at that.
See if it holds.
Success.
And now it's picnic time. Time for lunch. Okay, we have a giant baguette. Cheese, grapes, meats, nuts, chocolate, some wine and seaweed. Chips. I'm so excited. This is so romantic. I could not be any happier.
Bon appetit.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Time to go back.
Now to park it in the wind. You're actually doing amazing. I've had some practice.
No, this boat has seen a lot worse.
That was beautiful.
Beautifully done.
I swear, you have a really good captain. She drove at least 50% of the time. I can't take too much credit.
So just driven back out into the up and coming area of town to get on another boat. This one is slightly more unique and requires us changing into A bathing suit.
I've been freezing cold in Copenhagen wearing a coat and boots every single day until today.
Okay, here we go. I'm cold. I feel so naked. So I want you to step on the side coping hot.
And then on the bench. Just. Just got your body to adjust the temperature. Okay, this is a little warm.
I love it. This water is so hot. Nate is going to freak out. I love hot water, but he has a much lower tolerance than I do.
Getting chilly. Ooh, it's warm.
Wow, it's hot. How is this heated? Is it actually by fire? By firewood in the oven right now.
Okay, okay, I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. All right. This is great. So we are spending the next hour and a half floating in a hot tub on the canals of Copenhagen. We're actually seeing a whole different part of the canal that we didn't get to see see on the goboat. So after today, we will have seen all of the city from the water.
It's crazy. I sat in this tub for like two minutes and now outside feels like a summer's day.
So this entire hot tub is being heated by this fire. And it was so hot in here that we had to take cold water from the canal and pour it in here because we were sitting on the edge because we were so warm. It just blows my mind. I've been so, so freezing all week and now I'm just sitting outside in a bathing suit. And now we're going to roast our marshmallows in the same fire. It's multi perfect.
We were told this was not a true Danish experience unless we took the polar plunge into the freezing cold canal. It's kind of like the Finnish experience where you can't be in the super hot sauna without jumping in the freezing cold snow. He told us don't think too much. Just do it. Here we go. Thank you. Purple.
Wake up.
Okay.
I had to warm up in the hot tub. This is so nice. This is the most satisfying feeling. Oh, I'm so warm now, but my body has this nice tingly feeling. Remember to breathe when you do it. Don't do the panic scream.
Just remember to breathe when you're in the cold water. Okay. And try to relax your muscles. Okay. I feel like I've been standing outside the hot tub for way too long today.
Jumped in, get it. Boom. Four, three.
Cold.
So cold.
Oh, so cold.
Okay, back is.
That was a lot colder than I thought it was going to be. I felt like I was just under the water for so long because I was like, oh, when is my head.
Going to come back up to get a breath?
I feel like we had the true experience.
Three, Two Vikings now. Two Vikings.
Yes.
Quite cold now. I never understood Kara complaining about cold hair, but kind of do it now.
Backwards. Okay. Probably shouldn't go backwards right now. Oh, I'm not good at this.
Why are you doing this? So why are you moving it so much?
Help me. Help me. Turn back around. Said towards me. You're on this side. Towards me is forward.
Yeah, yeah, just a little bit.
Why am I going towards the wall?
Because you're turning it towards the wall.
I really need you to. We're gonna run into this wall and I'm panicking. Nate.
Carrie, you can drive a boat.
No, I can't. I honestly don't know how to get it to go that way. I just tried. I'm being very serious.
Yeah, I know. You're going to figure it out.
Back us up. Wow.
Magnificent, isn't she? And on your left, you have the Church of St. Mary. She is a butte right here on the water. There's a very nice golden clock from the 17th century at the top. Hallelujah.
Are you Australian?
Wow.
No marshmallow left behind.
It's so nice and crunchy. Somebody on the other boat burnt their marshmallow and they're really upset. But I love burnt marshmallows, so I took it so it wouldn't go away.
Oh, no.
I lost him.
