It's currently 2:30 in the morning. I'm pretty sure I have a fever, but I love watching Tennessee play for Tina Tank. Tennessee is my favorite American football team and this is the largest attended football game in the world. So I had to wake up and watch it. She thinks I'm crazy. She also told me to document this.
Nate was right last night. He woke up with a fever. How you feeling, Nate?
Like crap. I walked to the grocery store. Now I'm really tired. I can't breathe out of my nose. My throat feels like it's on fire. I have 100 fever.
You gonna take it easy today?
Yeah.
I'm making you stay in bed.
This is the first time that either one of us has been sick. Not to our stomachs, where I felt bad enough that, like, we have to stand and not go out and do anything. Plus, we're meeting friends in Budapest, which is where we're supposed to be going tomorrow. And I want to feel better to hang out with them. So today's gonna be a rest day.
We went to the grocery store to get some snacks and I talked Nate into getting some ice cream. And it turns out.
We don't have a freezer at our hostel.
So.
Ice cream for breakfast?
Is that half of the cartons?
M can't let it go to waste. Do I get to eat the rest?
Yes.
It is a new day, and it is our last day in Bratislava. I've been taking care of poor, pitiful, sick Nate for the last couple days, and I forced him to stay in and rest. But this morning he overruled me and we're going out.
Yesterday consisted of me waking up at like, 10, being awake for a couple hours, sleeping for like five more hours, being awake for a few more hours, and then going back to sleep. I was really hoping that I was gonna be feeling much better today, but I woke up with like 101 degree fever. But our train leaves here at 2pm to go to Budapest. So this is like our last few hours here in Bratislava. I feel like we haven't seen any of the city. So I'm gonna push through the fever and go out and see a few of the big sights. We're starting with the blue church. There's a bridge that looks like a ufo. And then there's the castle where we met to start our food tour. But, like, we didn't get to see any of it. So see those three things? I know that's like not doing Bratislava, but doing our best with the help that I've had while I've been.
There's an ear.
This guy's missing an ear. We'll never know.
I think it's locked.
Stop number one, Blue church.
On to the UFO bridge.
Stop number two. UFO bridge.
Apparently there's a restaurant up there. Onto the castle.
What time is it?
Third and final stop, the Bratislava Castle.
I have to hurry back to our hostel, grab our bags and catch the 2 o' clock train. I know seeing three landmarks doesn't count as like seeing an entire city, but I am glad that I made myself get up a mess and kicked in enough for me to make it to all three places this morning. Probably get on the train and pass out here in about an hour.
All we need now is ice cream.
We got some ice cream.
Looks good on the throat.
Sam.
Got room to ourselves.
You know that feel when you really have to sneeze but you can't and your nose is just, like, on fire? That's what I felt like for the past two hours.
And I'm hungry.
How long have you been waiting to use that?
Just started just now.
Two and a half hours later, we made it to Budapest. Now we're at the bott.
Figure out how to use these.
Thank you.
Right, we just got settled into our Airbnb. It's massive and I love it.
With a full kitchen.
Now we're going to find food and.
Then I'm probably going to sleep.
Nate's making me stop. Did leaving one bite make you feel like you didn't eat half a carton? They make you feel better.
All right, don't get too close.
