Nate and Kara Buchanan film a travel vlog in Buenos Aires (day four). They visit the large outdoor San Telmo street market on a cloudy Sunday, spot outdoor tango performers in a plaza, interact briefly with a tango dancer, sample street food (warm nuts, fried plantains), and attempt local pizza/fugazetta with mixed results. The vlog is conversational and observational, with walking and on-the-street encounters forming the core content.

It is our fourth day in Buenos Aires and remember yesterday when we walked for 10 and a half miles because we thought it was going to rain all day today and we wanted to soak up the sun in the city. Well, it's not raining today, so we're out and my legs are sore.
Today is Sunday and apparently the thing to do in Buenos Aires on Sunday is go to this outdoor street market that's supposed to be one of the biggest in all of South America. And it just so happens that it's in the same part of town as we were in yesterday. So we have another long walk.
Also, another reason we're going is because in Santa, in San Telmo, where we're going today, there's supposed to be this famous square where people do outdoor tango, which we've yet to see any of while we've been in Buenos Aires. So we're looking forward to that. Kara, they do the tango, not you do the tango.
I'm gonna do the tang.
Also, it is cloudy today and it feels so much better.
We just got here and we're about to walk the whole length of one of the largest markets in South America.
Here we go.
The bag is still warm.
Last time I had nuts off the street was in London and they were delicious.
This guy literally has the first stand in the market and we've already bought something.
It keeps going forever. Plus it's cloudy out today, so it's much more pleasant than yesterday. And I'm not sweating.
We just found the square where they're doing the tango and caught the very last second. Second of it. And then I just had a very nice conversation with the man who was doing the tango. We exchanged some very bad Spanish words. His Spanish was really good. Mine was really bad. I still am not sure if they're dancing again. I tried to ask. He just started talking really fast, scared we missed it.
I've never seen the tango before, but I expect it to be a lot faster. He did a good job. All right. Bueno.
Thank you very much. Thank you very much.
That is the longest anyone has ever tried to speak to me in another language. And I just had no earthly idea what they were saying. At least like a 10 minute one way conversation with the guy that just danced the tango.
I think he might have been a little.
Only yes, only because we met him once and he asked us where we were from. We told him and then after he danced again, he came back up and asked us the same question.
He was so cute. I can't believe we made it to the end of the market. We were just so determined to get to the tango people that we made it to the very end and we didn't even realize it. So now we're going to get some Argentina.
We spoke in Spanish and I understood. We got some fried plantains to hold us over until we find a good pizza spot. I was about to get hangry again. Not today.
These are legit.
So we just learned how dependent we are on social proof. I had looked up this restaurant on the Internet, pizza restaurant that we were going to eat at. We walked up to it and there was nobody there. So we decided not to eat there. Now we're just going to wander towards the house and hope that we come across one that looks good with a lot of people with social proof.
So we ended up coming back to the place that we ate empanadas at the other day because they had a brick oven. And we figured the pizza can't be bad inside of a brick oven. But really, our pizza experience has pretty much been a failure. This afternoon we were supposed to get fugazetta, which is like pizza that has cheese in the crust and then onions on top. And it was supposed to be the local thing to eat. Instead, we ordered a different kind of pizza that starts with an F and really it's just bread with onions on top of it. I thought I was ordering a whole pizza. It's a little smaller than my head. We'll have to try again another day.
Pizza was a little bit of a disappointment. We'll have to do some better googling before we order.
Next time we are gonna call it a night. I'm going home to do some research on our next destination.
I have a vlog to Ed.
