Kara and Nate Buchanan made a feature-length documentary from 700+ videos spanning their journey to 100 countries. The film covers their YouTube beginnings in 2016, four years of travel highlights, and the vlog from country number 100. It's available pay-what-you-want starting at $1 on karannate.com/documentary, with a free YouTube release planned for February.

We want to start this video by apologizing for keeping you hanging for so long. It was unintentional, and we're sorry we didn't do a better job of keeping you updated.
We really wanted to do something special for our 100 country video, and it ended up taking quite a bit longer than we expected.
You see, the day we visited our 100th country, we filmed a semi normal video, and we just planned to upload it as usual. But then we got to thinking. This video is really the culmination of a goal that we've been pursuing for the last four years. It's the end of a story that spans over 700 videos that we have been uploading to our channel since 2016.
So we felt like we needed to make something bigger and better for this last vlog in our 100th country. So the last few weeks, we have undertaken the biggest video project of our entire lives, and it involved digging out every external hard drive we've ever, ever used.
Cara has pretty much turned into a vampire that doesn't go to sleep until 4am but after a week of sleepless nights, she has created a documentary that attempts to tell our story from start to finish, ending with the vlog from our 100th country. Yay.
If you've followed us since the beginning, you've probably heard bits and pieces of our story, but this is our attempt to put our story in chronological order for the first time.
You've seen the fun adventures along the way, but what we really want to do in this video is pull back the curtain on some of the things that were happening behind the scenes, as well as tell the story of the serendipitous events that led to the creation of this channel in the first place.
Our goal is to show you how two awkward newlyweds went from living in an apartment in Tennessee to traveling to 100 countries and building a community of over 1 million subscribers in the process. So the film is basically broken down into three parts. The first part is how we got started with YouTube in the first place. And against Nate's will, I've included plenty of painfully awkward footage from the old days.
This is video diary, day one.
In part two, we attempted to sum up the last four years of travel while focusing on a few of the pivotal moments that ultimately led us to where we are today.
Because that's the first time that we started talking about this goal of visiting 100 countries.
The first two parts are really just a setup for part three, which is the vlog that we filmed in our hundredth country. We are literally booking our accommodations for our 100th country right now on the plane. We cannot wait for you to see this video. We premiered a slightly unfinished version at our 100th country party last weekend and we were blown away by the response.
It was so much fun.
And now it's finished.
If the other people who watch our YouTube videos are half as cool as the people who are in this room, then we have unintentionally built one of the coolest audiences in the world over the last few years. Since this is the last video from our hundred country journey and Kara has literally spent hundreds of hours working on it, we've decided to try something new. Instead of immediately releasing it here on YouTube, we are going to make it available for download on our website using a pay what's fair model, which means if you want to watch the video, all you have to do is go to karennate.com documentary. You can watch the video for as little as $1, or if you feel like it's worth more than that, you can contribute more.
And don't worry if you can't pay for any reason or you don't want to pay. Just like all of our other videos, we're going to be uploading it to our YouTube channel sometime in February.
But if you want to watch it early, just go to karendnate.comdocumentary and pay whatever you think it's worth. We are super grateful for any support that we receive, but if anyone is feeling super generous, we've decided to do something special. If you contribute over $100, we are going to put your name in the credits of the video when we upload it to YouTube and we will personally send you a thank you video message.
Seriously, thank you so much for supporting our journey. We are still in disbelief that we just posted the last video from 100th country.
All of the feels and all of the emotion is in this documentary. This is what we've been working for for the past four years. And we're about to step on the flight that's going to take us there.
Here we go. We are boarding our flight to country number 100.
I can't help but just think about our very first flight of this entire journ from Nashville to Tokyo and just how we had no idea what was in store for us.
Here we go.
So we've never done anything like this before. It's a little bit of an experiment for us. We saw the yes theory channel use this model for their documentary last year. We thought it was a great idea and a good way to encourage creators like ourselves to take on bigger and more ambitious projects. We've spent a ton of time on this documentary. We're really proud of how it turns out, and we're looking forward to seeing how this goes and if it goes well. This is one of those things that could enable us to tell stories that are more important to us down the road that we might not resonate with the YouTube algorithm. So let's see what happens.
