These people are tough.
Today is day 12 of the trek. We think it's been a long time this morning. It's like 8:30. Definitely our latest time that we've left. And we are hiking from Gokyo down the mountain somewhere.
Whenever we feel like stopping, it's gonna feel good because we're going below 4,000 meters today. Yep, it's the plan. So we should all be feeling much better. We shouldn't be breathing as hard.
Are we hungrier?
3 9. He says bodies will have so much more oxygen inside of them. Great.
This hike is probably less straight downhill than I would like it to be. We're about to go through this little town and then back up this hill over and around. With that said, I have no clue what elevation we're at right now. But there's so much more oxygen in the air. Everybody is flying down the trail. It feels so much better. My carriage practically running right now.
We just had tea at Mao at 4400 meters. And now we are going to continue on for about an hour until we get lunch.
Let's go.
Now we're going to continue all the way along this ridge. It's a little demoralizing when you can see that much of the trail.
This is why hiking down isn't quite as easy as it sounds. Have to go all the way down the hill. We're gonna eat lunch down here and go all the way back up the hill. Even though we're really like perfectly level. Can't believe we're going all the way down there. I know. Just finished lunch at the Dole Resort. Now we have to climb straight up into the cloud. At this point, everybody's pretty much running down the trail. Care why we're running?
We want to get to Namche because it has cappuccinos and Wi fi and.
Cake and a shower and free chargers in the room. This is beautiful. I forgot. Oh, we're back below the tree line.
We haven't seen trees in like eight days.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. We are completely enveloped in a cloud.
We've been climbing straight up this mountain for.
You can barely even see Kara coming up the trail right there.
Kara, how long did we walk up the mountain?
Forever. We've been going up forever.
At least an hour. I think we made it to the top, though. Not our final resting place for tonight. Just the top of the mountain.
Hello. Hello. We think Namche is somewhere.
There.
Back in Namche. A ten hour day, right?
Ten hours.
Can't believe this is real.
We made it back to Namche. This is the town that we were at in day three where we did our first acclimation day. It took us 10 hours to get here. We were kind of joking all day that we were going to make it here. Nobody actually thought we would hike for 10 hours, but we were motivated by Wi Fi free charging and the bakery with chocolate carrot cake and cappuccinos. And now it is 6pm our longest day of the trip. And we made it.
Now this is the way to go to Everest Base Camp.
Hello.
Empty here. Still long. Oya. Oh, it's not. The scale.
Split them. Kara.
Barely.
I could tack.
Ha. Made it.
