Day 15 | Everest Base Camp Trek | Lukla Airport to Kathmandu

Nate and Kara fly out of Lukla after finishing the Everest Base Camp trek, dealing with flight delays before boarding a small plane back to Kathmandu. They check into a nice hotel, rest up, and celebrate with an Indian dinner after two weeks on the mountain.
Chapters
We can see every mountain in the valley. This morning our flight got moved to the first instead of the third. I have a good feeling that we're getting out of Luckla. Hope so. Hopefully we won't be stuck here for five days like some people have been. Yeah. You think those people are mad at us? Probably.
We're walking over to the airport now. I missed some meat. The bag is heavy.
We're crossing our fingers at any minute, plane is going to land on this Runway and take us back to Kathmandu.
Our flight is supposed to leave at 6. It's 6:21 and we just got checked in. It's a little hectic right now. The sky's still. It's not windy. I think we're still gonna leave.
I see tickets being handed out. So they at least think we're leaving.
We have our tickets.
Yay.
Hopefully we fly today. Our plane just ARR Runway. Looks like we might actually be leaving.
Thank you.
Our lady's here. I have such mixed emotions about this. I'm excited on plane game, but I'm scared to fly on it again.
Oh, this one's smaller than the last one.
People have been waiting here for five days. And we're getting out on the first plane this morning.
Hopefully that's a good thing.
Tara, how you feeling?
Why not?
Hey.
We made it off the roadway.
They literally landed the plane.
Hey. It's way clearer than it was.
Sam.
Thank you.
Cara.
We have successfully made it in and out of one of the most dangerous airports in the world alive.
Thank you. Sanaa.
Kara.
Why were your hands so sweaty when you were holding? And why did you squeeze my hand so hard?
That's what happens when I'm praying really harder.
Thank you. I've mentally prepared myself to be stuck in Luckla for at least like, three days. So the fact that we're here.
Kara, it's 85 degrees outside. Why do you still have your puffy jacket on?
I was so nervous. I wasn't thinking about the temperature.
Kara, you got enough bags? Yeah.
This is a fancy hotel. Look at the garden.
Good morning. Good morning.
How are you, sir?
Doing well. How are you? Good. All right.
Welcome back.
We are not in Everest anymore.
No. We're in a fancy hotel.
They booked us at the fanciest hotel in Kathmandu. All right.
Thank you.
Thank you so much. We have a big, nice bed. Not two tiny mattresses on opposite sides of the room.
The first time we both slept together in two weeks.
There's a bathroom in here. There's a fan. It's so nice. And clean.
We're gonna be honest, the rest of the day will probably not be very interesting.
I think I'm gonna take a nap.
And it's only a lot of 8am laying in bed. Maybe we'll go out to eat something fun.
Yeah.
Yeah. And then tonight we're going to celebrate with friends. Some birthdays plus that. Everybody made it to base campus. Welcome back. Yay. We'll pick this vlog back up if anything interesting happens.
We took a little nap, then got some real coffee, hung out in the sunshine, and now we're going to get lunch.
We're going to the Indian restaurant that was highly recommended by the Internet and.
We took a real shower.
Hello.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
That looks amazing.
Oh, yeah.
We just got to the Indian restaurant. Really looking forward to having something. Tonight's dalba and.
Super legit. We just ordered some dawn and off whole buns of chicken.
Best garlic non I've ever had. Like a fifth of the price of everything we paid for the last two weeks. Amazing.
Yeah. I paid $5 for a.
Thank you.
Cheese naan. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you very much.
Once again. We can't really stop ourselves when it comes to Indian food. Cheese naan, cheese naan, garlic naan, chicken masala. Chicken masala, chicken curry.
The best places where it's at. Oh.
We ate way too much as usual.
But I think that was the best Indian we've ever had.
It was amazing. It could have been because we've been on a mountain for the past two weeks.
That didn't hurt.
All right. Going back to the hotel, probably going to meet up with some friends that we met on the mountain, our Australian and New Zealand mates.
Also, the twix that cost $3 on top of the mountain cost 40 cents at the store. So we got to serve.
We are.
