So it turns out Ann, who we spent the whole day with yesterday from the home of New Beginnings, also owns a restaurant in Bangkok. So she invited us for lunch today.
She tempted us with promises of dim sum, pork buns and Peking duck. And if you've watched any of our Hong Kong vlogs, you know that if you tempt us with those three things, we'll be there in an instant. So we're jumping on the BTS to head over there now. Bad thing.
Whoa, baby.
Oh, my God.
You're ready to squeeze. Come on. Come on.
No. Yeah, come on. Okay.
Please look inside the train, away from the.
Hello. Hi. We have ridden on a lot of crowded subways, but I think that one takes the cake.
Well, we're almost there. If we can live crossing this road.
Halfway, Halfway, Halfway, halfway. We're gonna die. We're gonna die. We're gonna die. Hold on. Hold on. It's stopping. Go.
We made it.
The Silver palace sweaty cap.
All right.
Sorry we're late.
No, that's okay. That's okay. So we have different kinds, so I'll like. I'll order for you to try. Okay.
We fully trust you. That's what I like to see. That is a lot of ones.
Ann ordered us some chrysanthemum tea.
Did you say that right?
Oh, that's delicious. Okay, first up, barbecue pork.
That's really cool.
All right, let's do it. This is our first time ever having chicken feet. I think you might have to eat it with your hand.
I think I do.
Maybe. I see some toes right there.
Get the toes.
That one.
Here we go. I'm just gonna take a bite of.
The end of the. You're just gonna suck on the toe?
You have a toenail.
Let's go and toast, people.
You didn't. You just licked it?
No, I grabbed some meat.
Okay.
It's kind of good.
I like it.
It's.
Oh.
Got a bone.
Oh, that's nice. Nice. Way to be polite at the dinner table.
There it is.
How was it?
Chicken foot. It's kind of mushy on the outside. Mushier than I thought it was going to be. But the sauce is delicious.
We would feel bad making such a big deal about eating a chicken foot, but Ann, who owns the restaurant, doesn't.
Eat chicken feet, so I would recommend somebody trying it. It's really not bad at all. I'm still eating it, so.
It's the feast that never ends.
What do you think?
That is so good. I think I just won't eat anything else on the table and just eat the rest of the. Yes.
The duck. It's so flavorful.
The skin is so crispy.
Yeah.
All the toppings go on it so perfectly.
And whatever the sauce is, would you say it was.
It's a honey and plum.
I feel like Anthony Bourdain right now.
Special treatment. And to try everything on the menu.
Yes.
The bean curved skin made it from, like, when you walk, boil the soy milk. Like, when you boil milk, you know, like, there's a layer.
Yeah.
And then they take that part out from the soy milk and let it dry so it become, like, flat and becomes, like. You can use it as roll.
These look like hash browns. What are these?
This is like, Cantonese hash brown.
Oh, almost nailed it.
It's made from rice flour.
Okay.
We made our own rice flour every day and then mixed with our authentic sauce.
Cool.
This is a sauce that we made by ourselves, so it's very unique.
Yeah, it sounds delicious.
It does. Again, this is the bean curd wrap roll with prawn.
What's better? That or the dumpling?
I really like this.
You're a fan of the crunchy bean curd.
So we just ate the skin of the Peking duck, and then they took the rest of the duck back and have brought it back as.
This is a Thai style. Looks delicious. What is that?
This is taro. Deep fried taro.
It's as good as everything else.
Better than P F Changs.
There was so much food on the table, we almost forgot about the buns.
Saving the best for last.
That's gonna be hard to say.
Buns are just my favorite. Which one should I try first?
I don't know.
I'll try the barbecue one first. That's delicious.
Look at all that goodness.
Nice.
Time for dessert.
Thank you you very much.
Whoa.
Wow.
I seriously felt like Anthony Bourdain feels. I don't know how he does that for a whole episode at, like, multiple restaurants.
That was my favorite eating experience our whole trip.
Peking duck still tops the list for me. The crunchy skin was so good.
It really was. Everything was so delicious. They've had that restaurant in their family for, like, 30 years. So all of the recipes are like, her grandmother's recipes.
If you're in Bangkok, go to the Silver palace restaurant, and if you tell Ann that we sent you, she'll give you a free dessert.
You won't regret it.
We were planning on going to Chinatown to eat some street food, but maybe we'll just walk around.
I think we're just gonna walk around this time.
Or we'll just go take a food coma. One of the two.
We chose, food coma.
It was too hot to walk around on full stomachs. Well, our food coma is complete. And now we're going to eat again. Now we're going to meet Bonita, Anne's partner at the home of new beginnings. She's who we originally came to meet in Bangkok. But she hasn't been feeling good the past couple days. So we're excited that we get to see her before we leave tomorrow.
How are you?
We just finished dinner with Bonita and Roy and I just can't get over how awesome they are. And this whole organization here, the stories that we've heard you couldn't even make up. And they all have happy endings now just because of what they've started here in Bangkok. It just blows me away.
It's been super inspiring to be able to hang out with Bonita and Ann this week just with two people who have set helplessly devoted themselves to serving others and changing other people's lives. We want to say a special thank you to Bonita and Ann for having us here at bay.
Been seeing these old men with big bellies when they get hot. Here, just take your shirt.
He really liked that. Here's another thing that confuses me about Bangkok. These motorcycle taxis go wherever they want. This is a one lane road, not going that way. She's not even a taxi and she's going where she wants.
