Okay, so we have some super disappointing news.
Good morning from Helsinki, Finland. Our flight doesn't take off until 11pm tonight, so we are going to see as much of this city as possible before we have to go to the airport.
If you're watching our videos in order and you're confused about how we got from Kimi to Helsinki, let us quickly fill you in.
You may remember not too long ago we posted our surprise trip to India video where we left Kimi, flew to India for three days, went to the Taj Mahal, celebrated Holi, and then yesterday we got on a nine hour flight back to Helsinki where we landed late last night.
So now we're about to make the most of our one day layover.
We just walked up to this pier and look how cold this looks. Big ice chunks in the water and Nate is convinced that we are swimming in this later.
I'm not too sure that my body will allow me to jump in this water.
We're doing it. You warm up in the sauna first and then you jump in the water. It's the Finnish tradition, we've been told.
How cute is this building?
This is so cool. We're in a really old building from 1889 and it's like a food hall type thing. Apparently that's really popular here in Finland, like big buildings with lots of different food options. We're gonna find some lunch.
So we thought this was only going to be food, but it turns out it's more like a market. There's lots of homemade things, some little coffee shops and cafes.
And then little restaurant sprinkled in the toilet. We picked a cute little restaurant and we ordered salmon soup and a salmon sandwich on rye bread. A local told us that when the Finnish people leave Finland, rye bread is what they miss the most. So that seemed appropriate. And salmon is pretty much on every menu in this whole place, plus rice in the ocean, so it made sense. Very excited to get some hot soup. Hopefully it'll warm me up a little bit.
Oh, that's nice. I thought it was going to be really fishy broth.
But it's not at all. It's very.
It'S very oily and it's not as creamy as it looks like. It's a really thin broth. It also has huge chunks of potatoes, obviously big chunks of salmon, tons of dill. This is exactly what I needed to warm up. According to the sign in the restaurant, this is the best salmon soup.
In town. I couldn't remember if it said in the world. Now for the salmon sandy.
I don't know if I'm a huge fan of rye bread. It's a bit.
What do you think of rybread?
I think it sucks all the spit out of my mouth. So I think I'm understanding the salmon rye bread combo. When you lay like a slightly wet fish on top of a bread, it would get soggy if it was just like a normal, like soft piece of bread. But because the rye bread is very dry and firm, you can lay it on top and the bread doesn't get soggy.
Closing. So we've just gotten a message that I think is going to drastically impact our day. I'm currently waiting on hold with Ben. Air.
Hold music is very nice, Per.
Okay, so we've just gotten some super disappointing news. Since our flight tonight was canceled. We either have to get on a flight at 6:15, which means that we have to leave like right now, or we have to see if we can figure out how to take an overnight train to Kimmy. But we don't even know if that's a possibility yet. Either way, we are heading back to the hotel to figure things out. In the meantime, here is the. In the meantime, here's the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe. We're just walking right back.
To make things more interesting. It just started to rain.
So the situation is not exactly ideal. We jumped on the computer to look for an overnight train. Couldn't find anything decent. So we ended up having to book the earlier flight, which meant that we had to drag our bags to the train station, buy tickets, jump on the train, ride to the airport, which is where we are now.
We're on the bus.
So now instead of sitting in a sauna like we had originally planned, we are on the crowded bus on the way to our airplane.
I'm very sad. Well, thank you. Somewhere I've wanted to go for so long. And I hate that it got cut short.
If we're trying to be positive it was raining when we left.
That's true.
And we're gonna get to sleep before 3am.
And we're not leaving Finland. We're just leaving Helsinki. And we'll just come back when the weather's better with it and warmer.
I'm just sad we missed out on the sauna. I'd done a lot of research. We were going to the best one.
Maybe we'll still get to go to a sauna.
This is so opposite. Except for the fact that I'm very hot right now on this bus. Yeah, there's lots of humidity. It's like we Were throwing water on the rocks in the sauna, except it's everyone else's body heat.
Slightly more disgusting. Okay, and here we go. We're going to jump out into the cold. It's just like a sauna. So in Finnish sauna tradition, after getting your body temperature up, you head out into the cold, which is what.
We've done almost the same thing, pretty.
Much doing it, except we have clothes on for free. For free.
Well, we bought this flight.
This is an expensive sauna. We're just being funny. It's totally fine. We're lucky to be traveling. We're lucky to be heading to Kimmy. We have some awesome stuff planned.
Please review the important information on the safety card before takeoff.
Your safety belt fastener, whatever. The safety belts are in the zone.
We're back in Kimmy. And it's just as cold as I remember. Oh, it's not bad ice.
The crown looks wet, but it is not. It is straight ice.
Trying to figure out how to get to our hotel.
Pretty sure it's us. One other person in this airport right now.
We've only been back for, like, five minutes, and I'm already amazed once again at how nice the people are here. The guy in the airport called us taxi and then proceeded to come outside in his, like, one little thin dress shirt and load our bags into the taxi for no reason, Just out of the goodness of his heart.
I love Kimmy.
I feel like. I mean, we were only in Helsinki for, like, a half of a day, But I feel like the people might get friendlier as you go north for sure.
Ow.
We've made it to our hotel. We've been reunited with our drone. The people here were so nice. Last time we were here, we left all the electronics that we didn't need and all the cold clothes that we didn't need here with them to watch while we went to India.
I love the Finnish people.
So we're gonna be in this cozy hotel for one night, and then tomorrow night, Dan's get exciting.
It's gonna be great.
Today is laundry day. Also, we promise not to bombard you with a fair drop ad in every single video. But I did want to let you know that since this is launch week, we're giving anyone who signs up this week 25% off their yearly membership fee. So if you sign up now through Sunday, you can try it out and save some money. Okay.
It's red.
It's still red.
It didn't get run over. Okay. Super disappointing news.
Can't go.
So I feel super weird saying you sauna. But when we met some friends last week when we were in Kimi, we said we were asking about their, like, if they had a sauna in their house. Because we heard that most Finnish people do. They were like, what?
Sauna?
They say sauna.
It's very hard for me to do without that accent. Like I'm mocking people when I say.
I like it kind of how it's spelled.
