Dubrovnik to Kotor, Montenegro | PRIVATE TAXI

A first-person travel vlog transcript of Nate and Kara Buchanan traveling from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Kotor, Montenegro. They rent a private van with a group of five, depart after checking out of an Airbnb, cross the Croatia–Montenegro border (passport stamped, upside-down), arrive in Kotor and explore while waiting to check into a unique Airbnb. They eat local food (mentioning koopaska kabeca and chicken stew), interact with companions Charlie, Marcus, and Jill, and board/prepare to stay on a boat accommodation.

Two hamburgers.
Thank you.
Thank you.
It is a good thing we're leaving Dubrovnik today. There's a burger shop down the road that sells these massive burgers for, like, $3, and I've had at least five of them.
Way too many. We had to check out of our Airbnb at 11, but we're not getting picked up to go to Kotor until one, so we're gonna go take our.
Burgers to the beach, get right over by car.
So the five of us were planning to all, like, jump on a public bus and ride two hours south to Kotor, but we did some research last night, and it turned out that renting a private van was, like, the same price because there were five of us and way fancier.
We are so excited about our next Airbnb in Kotor. It's, like, the most unique place we've ever stayed.
Stay tuned. We got pretty good at laying on concrete.
It's comfy, clean.
I still prefer sand.
Time to go. Concrete. Too comfortable. Come on. Just left the beach. We have, like, five minutes until our ride's supposed to be here.
So sad to leave Croatia, but I'm hoping Montenegro is just as pretty. I've heard you think.
Thank you very much.
Good choice, Jill. Yeah, it's roomy, isn't it? Lovely. Thank you, sir.
What is your name?
Bourgeois. Bourgeois.
Charlie, will you stay in the car this time and not harass the border official?
So now we're in no man's land between Croatia and Montenegro, being told. Next we stop at the border of Montenegro to get stamped in. Which means we just got stamped out of Croatia. Charlie, way to control yourself. Thank you very much.
I'm sorry. Misunderstanding. Looking a bit cloudy in Montenegro.
Not only did he stamp it on the 50th page, he stamped it upside down.
Apparently, our driver has a funeral to get to. You're gonna get back by her? We're switching over to a different van to get to our new Airbnb.
He was hilarious.
Check out that castle. We've arrived in Kotor. We can't check into our unique accommodations until 6pm Care is currently on TripAdvisor looking for a cafe where we can kill some people. It's like 3:30 and I'm still having to wear this on travel days. I think you made a great find on Trip Advisor. According to Apple maps, we are here between this apartment building and this brick wall. Lovely. A great cafe.
All right, well, let's figure out where we need to go.
Well, I don't know what to do.
Smells good. Sit here, madam. Smells beautiful with you. Shortly we've abandoned the search for Kara's cafe. Now we're just heading back into town to sit anywhere that looks good so we can stop carrying our bags around. Oh, this is a beautiful river we've chosen to set up on.
I love it.
No, I'm. I'm so ready to stop. A daily menu for €450. Yay.
As my approval. It's a feast. Fried chicken.
Yeah, baby.
This is the.
Koopaska kabeca. That's pretty good. I mean the sausage and cabbage. Very nice. You must try if you come to Montenegro.
Better not.
I didn't know better. I think you knew what you were talking about.
Thank you. There we go. That looks delicious.
I got the chicken stew.
Very nice. We just had a lovely dinner and it cheap. And now we're going to our new favorite accommodation ever. We don't know that yet. We might hate it. I think it's gonna be.
I see her.
Thank you.
This is gonna be amazing. And you stoked. Is every okay. Little games though. Yeah. Love one.
I love games.
Okay. Did we pick a room?
No. I've been looking at all the cabinet.
There's so many cloud this room.
So this is ours.
Oh, sweet home. This is our room. So excited about our new home.
The guy just brought the boat back in from a trip. He needed like an hour to clean it. So we're going to kill some and then we're probably just laying on the boat while for a four days.
I love that bike with the shark face. You see it?
And we're back.
What are you making?
I think it's sausage.
Chapati.
Chapati?
The sausage we had in Bosnia. Gail, how you coming?
Yes, good.
Oh, beautiful. Charlie and Marcus, how are you contributing? I'm supervising the kitchen because I want to start if you don't watch them carefully in a galley kitchen, slack off because it's quite a spacious region and I'm eating fluffy little peanuts.
This is like some weird cross between a Cheeto and peanut butter.
Kind of delicious. After you have like more than three of them.
I'm not gonna be able to sit on the toilet.
How do I even do this?
That'll be.
That'll be comfortable. I've heard it's good for your bowels if you put your legs up like that. Yes. It's like the squatty putty, isn't it?
You shut your mouth when you're talking to me.
There's coffee, there's tea.
Evidence of that. You saw that domestic violence.
