Wow.
That is the boat I want to go on.
In our last video, we flew many sleepless hours from Vietnam to Venice to meet up with two very special people.
Nate's sister Kayla and her husband Barrett, who happen to be brand new parents. This is their first vacation alone in a year and we're crashing it. Sorry, guys, if you haven't been following along. The past few years, Kayla and Barrett have traveled with us several times and we've had some awesome adventures together.
First in Portugal.
Just in time. We're heading back for gelato. Oh, it's dripping already. Deep fried hamburger buns.
Is it hard to go both in the fr.
Yes. We did a quick trip to Spain.
We had an epic week in Iceland.
I can't go into Skoga Falls. I'm so sorry. This is our worst nightmare.
Oh, it's real small.
And they're here. Wow. We saw the northern lights tonight and we got to spend a week together back in the US.
And now Italy. First, we rented a tiny car at the airport.
Then we checked into our Airbnb.
Come on. Come on. We're going to get everybody.
No, no, I don't want.
Come on.
Welcome.
We made it.
And even though we all hadn't slept in a while, we pretended like we weren't jet lagged and headed into town to make the most of our first time in Venice.
Look at it.
It's beautiful. So we decided to stay out on the mainland instead of on one of the islands because it was much cheaper. But the round trip bus ticket here was only €3 and it just took like 15 minutes. It was super easy.
We are officially walking the streets of Venice along the canals. I cannot believe we are here. This is a city that I've always pictured us coming to, but I never knew when it was going to actually happen. I'm so glad we're here with Kayla and Barrett. We're also fully aware that we are here during peak tourist season, but we're tourists, so we're just joining them. First thing on tonight's agenda is gelato. Obviously.
I think we may have just found a local area of Venice.
There are kids playing soccer in the store street.
All because we went in search of ice cream.
We found it. The money to get the gelato. Thank you. So good and melting quick. Gelato in Italy is just as good as I remember. It's actually better. I think. I've had a lot of mediocre ice cream lately and so this.
I'm so happy right now.
I think I have like a million shots Just different angles of canals.
I am just, like, really craving right now. Speakers in this city playing Venetian music.
You want to go back to Las Vegas in the Venetian? I will say I'm enjoying this way more than I thought I would.
Oh, my gosh.
We had all intentions of going out for a nice meal here in Venice. And then we passed a pizza place that was packed with people and. No.
No. What happened?
What happened?
We walked by and we went, no. So we gotta eat that.
The restaurant was so far away. Nice. Oh, beautiful.
It has.
This was a great decision.
How was it, kids?
I was trying to think of an Italian word, but.
Hello.
Welcome to Venice.
That was good. That is the boat I want to go on.
He's very passionate about his job.
Starting to rain. But we're full and happy, and we're still awake.
All the people are leaving. And that restaurant is playing Venetian music. All my dreams are coming true.
We're fading.
Fading big time.
That was about 20th, y'. All, in the last five minutes.
Slowing down.
I haven't changed my watch yet. And it's 1:13am in Vietnam.
It's officially been 42 hours since we left.
You're making me tired.
Our apartment in Vietnam.
We've done good, though. We got, like, a full half day in Venice.
I didn't think we'd make it this long.
It's a good thing we did pizza, not dinner. I think I would have ended up asleep in my food.
The sun hasn't even gone down.
It's been a good day, though.
We all crashed at an embarrassingly early hour. But it was a fabulous start to our time in Italy. We had to decide whether or not we wanted to spend more time in Venice or experience a new place the next few days. And we decided to head into the mountains tomorrow to see a whole new part of Italy we had never experienced before. The Dolomites.
Who knew this existed in Italy? Wow. Oh, I hate that. Careful, Kayla. So sketchy. Are you sure about that? I think you gotta get. Come down, Kara. To this foothold. Down here is almost the moment of truth.
Look how close. Look how close.
I just ejected my hard drive.
Yay.
So excited.
Scared of small spaces.
I like this elevator. I like that.
It's.
It's old, but not so old.
Yeah.
Yeah. That's not.
Yeah.
Those people walked through my picture.
I got tiramisu and chocolate latte.
Okay.
I just made it again.
Even on the side. It's crazy.
And I've been wearing these clothes for, like, two and a half days.
This is beautiful.
I don't want that. No.
Where are you going?
I don't like.
Give me that spin. Oh, water droplets. Really? It's not working. It is so quiet here in Venice. This is just like an undiscovered gem. You've got to come here before people figure out about it.
