FLYING BUSINESS CLASS FOR KARA'S BIRTHDAY | American Airlines Business Class for 11 hours

Kara and Nate fly business class from Bolivia to Ecuador for Kara's 26th birthday, routing through Miami on American Airlines. They scored a systemwide upgrade and spent 11 hours in lie-flat seats, where flight attendants brought birthday brownies and wine. The inefficient routing was cheapest, and Ecuador marked their 49th country.

Today I turned 26 years old. We got picked up at 4am and we get to celebrate by traveling until 11pm in business class.
Okay.
How was this holidays? It was good.
Sam.
It is currently 5:05. We just got to the lounge. Today we are taking the most inefficient route possible from Bolivia to Ecuador. If we just flew it normally, it'd be like three hours I think. But instead we are flying from Bolivia to Miami, Florida in the US and then down to Ecuador which is like 10 and a half hours of flying. But it was the cheapest flight that we could find. Thankfully it was on American Airlines where I have status. So after I booked the ticket I put in for a system wide upgrade which allows you to upgrade to another class of service.
We are oddly so excited that we get to take this super inefficient route because we're in business class and we didn't know we were in business class until last night. Nate called to ask if the upgrade would work and it worked and I could hard.
I got a little extra security love for my birthday. Apparently these four S's and this big red circle means I needed extra checking. But I was all clear and our seats are awesome.
Look at all this leg space.
The TV situation though.
Look how huge this fill up blanket are. You SA.
Chief is a mont here, American. This is always a pleasure to fly with nice folks like yourselves. For those guests continuing on to Miami, you will need to deplane the aircraft here in Santa Cruz as they will do a security check and clean the aircraft and cater and prep it for the flight, the longer flight back to Miami. So again you'll need to take all of your luggage and all of your items. And for those of you who are staying here in Santa Cruz.
So that was just like a business class flight. Creepy. It was only 55 minutes to Santa Cruz and we had to get off the plane while they clean it and stuff. And then we're gonna get back on to go to Miami. But it turned into one of my favorite flights ever because our flight attendant was awesome. He brought us brownies even though there was no meal service. And then I told him it was my birthday and brownies are my favorite. So I was thanking him.
And he brought me a whole bottle of.
I don't even know if I'm allowed to like take this back. I don't. I hope I don't have to go through security again or I don't know. From American Airlines. You're my favorite flight attendant ever and you're really good at your job.
She wouldn't even let me go give it to someone.
She told me to throw it away.
Hello, sa.
Lay flat seats are the best. I checked seat guru before we left and it said these were angled lay flats. But apparently they've upgraded the planes since then because these are 180 degree plane flight seats.
Hello.
American Airlines.
Got two bottles of wine. This flight, it's getting a little out of hand. That was a great six hour flight. It wasn't long enough, but thankfully we're about to have another four hour flight back to ecuad. We had another awesome flight attendant. I love American Airlines. He gave me two bottles of wine, one for me and one for Nate. I tried to tell him that the last bottle I tried to take got taken away and he told me, no, no, no, just you're gonna get to Miami. You're gonna put it in your checked luggage and then send it to Ecuador. So I just said, okay, and I took them gratefully. And we got here and it turns out our bags are going straight to Ecuador. We didn't have to recheck, so there was no way I could send them to Ecuador. And I felt so bad for wasting two more bottles. But then I saw a lady, she was one of the little security people, like standing, ejecting people. And I told her my predicament and I asked her if she wanted them and she said yes. She was so happy. So she told me she would celebrate for me. And now we get to go to our favorite lounge, the American Express Centurion Lounge, right now.
Hey, take that back. Our favorite lounge in the U.S. oh yeah.
You're invited to unwind the complimentary spa treatments in the Centurion Lounge.
See if you have time for one. Yeah, we're really.
We only had an hour in this lounge, so I didn't have time for a massage today. But we did get the Sunday summary sent out. So for a late birthday present, sign up for Sunday Summary. And our planes are already boarding and we have no idea how far away it is, so we really need to hurry.
So we're practically running to the gate right now. Thankfully, this is the most oxygenated, oxygenated air that we've had in the last week. Instead of being at 12,000ft, we're basically at sea level. All kinds of oxygen flowing through my body right now.
We made it barely spin. Real usa. I'll miss you. See you in June.
So now we have like a three and a half to four hour flight to Quito. This will show you the difference between American Airlines new hard product and their old product. This is like pretty ancient business class. Sorry Kara got smacked in the head by some lady's back before we were in fully laid flat seats. These are angled lay flat seats, very limited storage room. I'm glad that the new plane was our six hour flight and not this flight. But we're in business class so I'm not complaining, just pointing out the differences.
Seat belts should be fastened whenever you're seated just in case of unexpected turbulence to get us on our way. Make sure your seat is up, all electronic devices are put away and your tray table is stowed.
Hello.
Sa.
Hello.
Hello.
Nice to meet you. I'm Nate. Nice to meet you. Is it your birthday?
Today's my birthday. Oh, Today, yeah. I'm 26. Gracias.
She sat on an airplane all day.
It's been very fun. Our last flight was pretty uneventful. We both fell asleep finally. Nobody sent me off with a bottle of wine. This time I didn't tell him it was my birthday. It is currently 12:27. Our alarms went off at 3:30am so we've been traveling for almost 21 hours. So I've had a very long and a very good birthday. Thank you everyone for the texts and comments and messages. We are going to sleep now.
We're in Ecuador, our 49th country.
Oh yeah.
I feel like Mr. Rogers in my sweater right now.
With your hands, right?
I guess.
Thank you.
