FLYING FROM DELHI TO VARANASI, INDIA | Indigo Airlines

Vlog-style travel video transcript documenting Nate and Kara Buchanan’s trip from Delhi to Varanasi, India on Kara’s 27th birthday. The chunk covers pre-departure logistics (taxi to Delhi due to no train), airport security, lounge experience with Indian food (dosa, brownies), a short Indigo flight, arrival transfer negotiations, chaotic walk to hotel, warnings about monkeys at their balcony, and that their stay coincides with Holi celebrations. The tone is conversational and observational.

There's chocolate chips in them.
Mm mm.
These are both for me.
Today is our seventh day in India and today I turn 27.
This video is gonna be coming out later than when her birthday is, but go ahead and wish her a happy belated birthday. Today is also a travel day and because I waited till the last minute to book a train, we weren't able to get one. So we are actually taking a taxi back to Delhi. So where will they catch a flight to? Varanasi.
I think last year on my birthday was also a travel day but we were flying in business class so it.
Was a little more Sorry, I don't like pre plan these things to make your birthday more exciting. I've also developed a head congestion. So no lip kisses.
Maybe all of the powder that's in your lungs.
Also my forehead is stained tie dye from yesterday. I'm not sure if you can tell in the camera but. And your nose selfie. Only if I can take one too. You are. Oh just with care always. Yeah. Come here.
What is your name?
Yeah.
How long till we get to Delhi?
Yes.
And three hours later we were at the airport. I did nothing except stare out the window. Window for three hours. And I was fascinated every single second of the trip. India's incredible.
How's your birthday going so far?
I'm excited to go to a Lounge, number 7B.
Boarding time is at 15:45.
Thank you very much. Thank you.
We finally made it through security. We had to take all of our electronics and chargers and hard drives out of our bags, which is everything in my bag. So it took a little while but it's okay. Cuz now we're going to the lounge.
Starting my birthday lounge day right with some coffee. I saw a man walking around with a bucket of brownies. I don't know where he went.
You brought a vegetable of brownies? Pretty sure I had brownies on my birthday last year for breakfast.
So there's actually a really good food selection in this lounge of like rice and curries, things that we've been eating already the last few days. But then there's this little station called Chef's Choice and Southern Delight where they're making stuff like with chefs. So I'm gonna go see what they're making.
Good afternoon.
What is this?
This is dosa. Mam.
Can I get one?
Yeah.
Thank you. I saw people making these on the street, but we haven't tried one yet. I guess I just kind of ripped a piece off and eat it. Oh it smells so good. Even the food in the airport is exciting in India.
That's definitely cheese. This was made for me. I'd rather have this and brownies than a birthday cake every day.
Round number two.
Thank you.
Two hours in the lounge flew by the US and now we are boarding our flight to Varanasi.
Definitely playing a Christmas song right now.
I think the next song is Christmas too.
Two Christmas songs in a row. This is our first time flying. Indigo looks pretty nice.
It does look nice.
Similar to Ryanair ac. Nice was the wrong word. Adequate.
No screens. There are back seat bumps.
Super thin seats.
Not bad though.
Next few minutes we'll be pushing back. One second.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we have now arrived at destination. For your safety, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and open the overhead bins carefully once the seat belt sign has been switched off. On behalf of Indigo, we wish you a very pleasant stay here on a happy onward journey.
Short flight.
And now we're in barn on Beautiful.
Also, in case you were wondering, I bought this skirt for $3 on the market and I love.
Come on down.
Thank you.
The official airport taxi was 900 rupees to our place and this very nice man offered to take us for 600 rupees. So we'll see what happens. It's over an hour drive to our hotel, so gonna get cozy.
Thank you.
We're switching taxis. They tried to throw another person in there with us and charge us all three more. So found another guy who's going to take us for the original price.
No.
You don't.
Okay.
It took all of those guys to put us in this taxi.
Oh my gosh.
Apparently this is as far as the taxi goes.
This is the most chaotic place I've ever been.
After a 15 minute trek through the alleys, we have finally made it to our hotel room. As you can see, I booked this place based on ratings and location, not on the pictures. But when we got here, the guy did tell me that we have a balcony right out of this door. But he said, don't hold the door open because monkeys will come in and they will break the mirror and they will break the TV and they'll jump everywhere and shake everything.
He was being really serious, like open the door to check if any were there. And then he was like, close it.
I'm really nervous to open it.
No.
I'm scared.
Not much of a view. I don't know that it's worth the risk.
It's much scarier at night when something can be two feet away from you and you don't even know it.
So most people love monkeys. I feel like I've said this on the vlog before. I do not like monkeys at all. If they're like in a cage and just mischievous. Yes. Like the one that stole my sunglasses yesterday. They always want to steal your food and jump on you. And then you might have to get a rabies shot just in Thailand.
Not to us, but to a girl that we were with it bitter and then she had to get a rabies shot.
Yeah, I don't like them. So we. We were going to leave that door closed.
So this is where we're going to be for the next three nights. And this is actually during the official holy celebration. So we've celebrated Holi twice already. But not tomorrow. But the next two days are like the official holy. We don't really have any plans yet. We're going to figure it out.
Happy birthday. Thanks.
I don't know the words to say.
I know.
It.
