Nate and Kara Buchanan return to the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville where they went to school, walking through old dorms and Neyland Stadium. They scrapped their India trip due to extreme heat and are heading to Myrtle Beach instead to stay in a friend's RV.

Chapters
Hi, guys.
Sam.
Take me to Myrtle Beach.
This is crazy.
Wow.
Can we start?
Yeah.
So this morning we got up pretty early and didn't feel like talking to the camera at six in the morning. And we have now driven three hours and we are in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is a special place to us for a couple reasons. We're alums, we are University of Tennessee alumni. So we are currently standing here on campus. We're gonna do, gonna walk around and kind of walk down memory lane here in a minute. And then my brother lives here with his wife, so we're meeting them for lunch.
So you can pretty much forget everything that we said in the last travel vlog when we were on our way home for the first time. We told you we were gonna be home for two weeks and then go to India and then come back to my sister's wedding in July. And none of that's happening anymore except for the wedding that's still happening.
So like two days after we got home, I jumped into planning India and then the first thing I did was look at the weather in Delhi and it was 111 degrees Fahrenheit and only getting. Don't know what that is in Celsius, but it is very hot.
Too hot. So we were trying to find somewhere else that we could go after our two week time at home where we were regrouping, getting a new computer, fixing the drone, getting a GoPro, all that stuff and nothing like worked as well as that little loop that we were gonna do.
And everything was just getting like stressful. We were over a month behind on the videos. I had work that I needed to get caught up on and it was just becoming like travel was becoming a little less fun.
So we just decided we're staying home. Forcing it. Yeah.
All the way until July 8th.
Turn, my sister's home.
So today we are on a nine hour drive from Nashville all the way to Myrtle beach, where we're meeting two of our friends who live in an RV full time, Heath and Alyssa. They've got like a blog and Facebook and they're doing YouTube now. And we'll link all of it below. But we're really excited to spend the week with them in Myrtle Beach. But first we're going to spend a couple hours here in Knoxville.
Every time we come home, we don't film much and people in the comment section are always like, should film in the US but we never do.
It's.
It just feels different.
It's different like when we're in foreign countries, it's like there's always something to us interesting that happened that's happening because we're not familiar with it.
Yeah. Like, everything is uncomfortable, like, the food, and we don't know the rules. But here, like, we know what the speed limit is, and we know what the rules are. We know we can eat and not eat, and everybody speaks our language. And so we're scared that you're not gonna like it as much.
We're having a great time. I'm scared that our excitement's just not gonna show through as much because it's not all, like, new and unique because we've been to these places.
Yeah. But we're really excited about being on.
Campus, so hopefully they go well. If you can hear this construction behind us. Welcome to the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus, constantly under construction. All right, let's go walk around.
This wide angle Lens.
Looks crazy.
P.S.
If we look a little bit different and if you can see so much, it's because we got a new lens and it's wide angle and it's awesome.
Okay, first fun fact from our University of Tennessee campus tour. This building right behind me is where I spent three, three years living while I was in college.
I only lived there one year, but.
It wasn't this building. It was way crappier. The building that I lived in, they found asbestos in, and then they condemned it, and then they demolished it and they built this building. So I always say I'll die a few years early from spending three years in that place. And this is the cafeteria where I ate way too many meals.
There's a Chick Fil, a special building.
With, like, special people.
This is like a marble house.
Yeah.
This is new. All of this is new.
Yeah.
This is the Nayland Stadium. Is that still what it's called? Yeah, the UT football stadium. It holds over a hundred thousand people. We probably went to every home game. I'm pretty sure I know Nate did. I normally get sick of football by the end of the year. It's only our second favorite part of campus, so Nate will show you the first.
No.
So this was my absolute favorite place on campus. Probably where I spent more time than anywhere else. That might not be a good thing. These are the intramural fields. Intramural sports are, like, I don't know, recreational sports. Anybody on campus can organize a team and you compete against each other. I played, like, over 20 every year. I won intramural player of the year one year. But that's not to say too much about, like, my athletic ability, because I think it's average. I just played more than anybody else and I surrounded myself with good people. Won lots of championship T shirts. So if you won, you got a T shirt. How many? I don't. 15, 20 championship shirts.
Oh. The reason I like these fields better than the the big stadium is because we actually won here.
Sadly, our walk down memory lane is over. We have to leave campus.
We literally could like stay here all day.
Who knows when we'll be here again though. But so many memories here.
We still have a six hour drive.
Welcome to the vlog.
Yay.
What's up? What's up? I think you just licked what's up.
Did you lick the light?
The belly looks good. Nate, how you feel about goat cheese today? Drop the water off. Anything else? I'm working on my beach, bud.
But. What?
That's the plan?
A year.
I can see that, buddy. He doesn't, like.
Worked.
See ya.
We are officially heading out of Knoxville. If you recognize Sarah and Dusty, that's because it's Nate's brother and his wife. And we went to their wedding last year. And I'll link their wedding video in the description.
We just stopped by their apartment to get one of the best games in the world. You'll be seeing more of that this week. It is now. Well, so we've gone from Central time to Eastern time. It is 3:15. We in Knoxville for more than four hours. We were supposed to stop for like, max of one.
Oops.
Oh, my gosh.
Take me to Myrtle Beach.
Thanks. I've been editing in the car and my computer died, so naturally we had to stop at Starbucks so I could charge it for work. No other reasons.
And dinner.
Head northwest toward North Carolina. 146 West.
We made it. Your destination is on the right.
Oh, right into the bush.
Exactly. 12 o'. Clock. That took seven. No time changed. 16 hours.
Should have taken nine. Nine and a half.
Oh, my gosh.
This is so cute.
So nice.
This is amazing. This is Heath and Alyssa.
Have we explained that they're here? No, they're not actually here right now. They don't get here until Wednesday. And today is Monday. Technically Tuesday, because it's midnight.
They're in Charleston doing some work, and we're nice enough to let us use their camper for a couple nights by ourselves. It's a lot of trust just to let somebody come into your home.
We can't wait till you get here. Ethan. Alyssa. There is so much space in this place. I could totally live in here.
All right, time for bed.
Good night.
Good old Rocky top.
Woo. There's always been a chick fil A.
Not in the press corps.
Sure.
It was all the way at the uc.
There's a chick fil A when I was here.
No, it was at the I'm 100. It was subway.
110 positive. This side used to not be the cafeteria. And there was chick fil A.
Did not have a chick fil A in high school. It was subway.
