Thank you.
I thought it'd be a good idea to bring her coffee in the rickshaw.
The road quality has slightly decreased since we started.
We got up before 6 o' clock this morning. Solomon picked us up in his tuk tuk and drove us down the edge of Lake Victoria. And now we're about to hop in a boat, go see some hippos. There's a hippo right there.
They're everywhere.
We walk up to the shore and there were two hippos right there. And now they've gone underwater. And then we heard one roaring in the water and he kind of freaked out to get in the boat. But we're gonna do it anyway.
These look big and safe. There's no way a hippo can turn that over. Hello. Just step on the tile and then you get easier. Yes, you step on here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Thank you very much. What's your name? Titus. Titus, nice to meet you. I'm Nate. Welcome.
Karen. Glad you brought that coffee cup.
It's.
We spotted him post.
It's.
Our first full day in Africa. Is off to an awesome start. The hippos this morning were incredible. We just came back to Keith and Aaron's house, packed up our stuff, and now we are about to jump in a van and go meet up with the rest of the team who we're going to be doing clinics with for the rest of the week.
So an American came to Kenya and realized that they did not have a good coffee place and started the Java house. These massive iced coffee.
They're really good. And they come in this little sugar cane jar. The whole rest of the team is here that we're going to be with for the next couple weeks.
Welcome to the vlog, everyone.
It's.
We just drove about three hours. I took a very long nap. And now we just brought in all of this stuff.
Have you told everybody what we're doing?
I don't know what we're doing. I just know we brought all our stuff in here. All this stuff. All this stuff.
All of that stuff.
We're gonna spend the rest of the afternoon packing pills. And tomorrow we're setting up our first clinic.
We don't know what we're doing still.
Kara and Nate, y' all get to snuggle. The beds aren't huge.
Should be us.
That's nice and cozy.
Yeah.
We did get this snuggle under a mosquito net. The widowmaker.
What is the Widowmaker?
That's what they call the shower heads that if you touch, you get electrocuted.
Get Your three different settings. But you can't touch it while you're showering because it's powered by electricity and you might die.
Why is that cord hanging down like that?
It's the electric cord.
If you touch the cord, you're gonna get shocked too.
Don't touch anything while you're in the shower.
It's the hanging down, like, right by your face.
Oh, man. I don't even know how to get it.
Yeah, we have another door. I wonder where this goes.
You are widow.
I think I would be a widower. Huh. We have a balcony.
Tell us the good news, Nate.
Been here for about 15 minutes. Already got promoted to pharmacy supervisor.
I'm so proud of you.
High five. Which means lift a lot of heavy boxes and move that center out.
It's because you have the biggest muscle. We are getting work done.
Cooper, you're such a big help.
What are you doing, Mama?
I'm having cough on the.
Coffee.
So. Why?
This is going to be for the kids.
Medicine. Nice. Kara, are you working or playing with the baby?
A little about.
What are you doing?
We're writing Tylenol on all of these bottles.
Cooper is overseeing the operation.
Good job, Cooper. Checking them to make sure they're good.
Say, the first day on the job's going pretty well. We have our creams here, children's meds here, and the real pharmacist is taking care of that.
Now. We are eating in our hotel.
This is rice. This is chapati. This is fish. But I don't know what these are. Green grams. Green grams. Green grams are these. Yeah. And then mixed vegetables. Oh. Dinner was really yummy.
I don't know what else to say about that. The green things were weird.
That can't be a good sign.
I really don't want to go swimming with hippos today.
It's always good to water your toes.
Cara. Gotta tell us.
We just drove over the equator.
Maybe next time.
Under construction. The equator is.
