Kara's Birthday

Everybody. Wish Kara happy birthday. Well, this will be tomorrow, so it won't be her birthday anymore.

Today, Kara gets to choose exactly what we do. How are we gonna start the day?

Well, it already started with coffee.

A bucket of coffee.

Now we're going to get lunch.

Where?

On the beach. And then I would like to swim or snorkel in the ocean. Maybe go to the pool and get a massage.

Sounds like your perfect day. Yay. What restaurant are we gonna eat at?

I don't know.

Weather is not quite cooperating with Kara's birthday. It's a little gr, but hopefully it'll clear up like it did yesterday. Which way? You choose.

No. It's your birthday. We're just gonna show your face all day. Oh, God, the birthday girl.

Gonna be a long day.

I think letting Kara make every decision might make her bir less enjoyable because she is terrible at it.

What'd you get for your birthday lunch?

I've been missing sandwiches after eating Asian food for the last.

And a half.

Got my favorite sandwich from home, A tomato mozzarella sandwich.

We were going to go snorkeling this afternoon, but it kind of started to rain, and then the clouds were kind.

Of gray all day, so we postponed our snorkeling plans.

Instead, we came back to our house, and I worked on the vlog a little bit so that we can do fun stuff tonight.

Apparently, the thing to do here on the island, if you're not into pub crawling, is watch movies at restaurants. What a fantastic concept.

It really is.

Normally Kara finishes the vlog at night, but instead she finished it this afternoon so we could go to the movie tonight. It's gonna be exciting.

It really is. One of the things I miss the most from home is just cuddling on the couch and watching Scandal, which we haven't been able to do.

Did you do it?

I did it. Yay. When we originally booked our trip to Koh Tao, the plan was to do six fun dives.

All dives are fun, though, and I.

Like to be good at things.

So instead of doing the fun dives, we signed up for the advanced open water Certification course. It's been like three and a half years since we've gone diving.

I don't remember how to do anything.

We're Gonna watch some YouTube videos to refresh ourselves tonight. It's a total of five dives over two days. There are two required dives, which are a navigation dive that obviously teaches you how to navigate underwater, and a deep water dive, which involves going down to, like, a hundred feet, because that's where narcosis starts to set in. Your brain starts to do funny things.

We're not doing that. Mom, don't listen.

It's a requirement.

We're doing it.

Then after that, you get to choose from six specialized dives.

We're missing the sunset right now.

Going to get a birthday massage.

Just dropped Kara off to get her birthday massage. I'm gonna go get a pancake and probably shoot a time lapse of the sunset. Yes.

I seriously think I'd rather have this pancake than a massage, even if they were the same price.

All of these boats out here with their lights out are set up for night diving. Cara has only put her foot down on one thing the entire trip. She refuses to go on a night dive.

It's going nuts. Can't have my pancake. This thing literally sat here and watched me eat this entire pancake. So I'm going to reward it for its persistence.

I went for the mango. Maybe that one's just too big. I'm definitely encouraging bad behavior.
