LIFE ON A SAILBOAT | Kotor, Montenegro

A short YouTube vlog-transcript of Nate and Kara Buchanan staying on a sailboat in Kotor, Montenegro. They describe rainy weather and life on the boat, walk to a local restaurant where they eat a mixed meat-and-vegetable plate they praise highly, struggle with slow Wi‑Fi while uploading a vlog, and discuss changing travel plans (they plan to go to Cyprus around the 9th–10th). The vlog largely documents routine travel moments and local food rather than extensive sightseeing.

Foreign.
On the boat this morning and rainy, wet.
Not exactly how I pictured staying on a sailboat would be.
Fun nonetheless. Yeah, and then you just kind of let the, like, push that up, and then you just let the rope, like, slide through your hand. And the gang plank comes down.
We are emerging from our boat finally. We haven't really left since we got there last night.
It's 2pm it has finally quit raining, and we're going out to find some food.
I enjoyed it. I was, like, a little nervous that I might get sick. I mean, the water is, like, perfectly flat, but, yeah, we're moving. And I didn't. Felt fantastic.
I did wake up once thinking there was a mosquito on my face. I could have been dreaming.
To Kara. Slamming all of our little bitty windows shut at, like, who knows, four in the morning.
I thought my face was getting bitten by a mosquito.
I did see a mosquito passing this morning.
See, there would have been more if I didn't shut the window.
I was very unhappy that she was slamming windows.
Hello.
There's potatoes down there that are cooking in the grease that drips off the chicken.
All raw meats.
Explain. You can start with them. Or Cat.
Vegetables that are drenched in oil.
My favorite.
Beautiful. This looks awesome. Be careful potato, because potato is very hot.
We walked out of this restaurant last night, and it was packed with local people. It's just a beautiful spread of meat and veggies in the window. So we had to come back today. We got a mixed plate, which just is a ton of meat and vegetables. And it looks beautiful.
These are the potatoes that were cooked in the juice of the chicken that was dripping out front.
We did good work. Just couldn't finish the last piece of pork. Oh, Cat.
If you are anywhere near Couture Montenegro and you don't go to this restaurant, you are missing out.
That was the most delicious meal I've had in weeks. Everybody under their breath, I think, said multiple times like, this is so good.
We just couldn't stop talking about it while we were eating. We were like, this is the greatest idea we've ever had. This is the best meal ever.
So delicious. It also helps that we didn't eat anything till 2pm I can still get on.
And then they get on.
Now my pants are going on.
We're on safe and sound.
Started raining again after lunch, so we just came back to the boat. I think this is about all that's gonna happen today. We're realizing that we don't have very much content. All we've done is go to a restaurant and eat. So we are proactively making the decision to condense. That's today's vlog, and whatever happens tomorrow's into one. So tomorrow's vlog picks up now. I can't snap in my left hand.
Now.
Well, the weather's about as good as it was yesterday. It's been pouring again all morning. But we're heading to a coffee shop to try to get a vlog uploaded. The wi fi on the boat leaves a lot to be desired.
Hope nobody's smoking in here.
Uploading the vlog turned into hours of travel, planning and lunch.
And now we're stuck here.
The weather in Montenegro is not exactly cooperating.
So until like two days ago, we were all going to Albania together. And then the weather in Albania was terrible, plus a few other things. So we've been sitting here all day. Everybody's trying to figure out where they're going, what they're doing. Kara and I are now going to Cyprus on the 9th or the 10th. We'll tell you more about that later. Charlie, what have you decided?
I just booked a room at home. Hostel. He was trying to book a hostel in Albania. Somehow booked one in Thailand. So I'm the only one going to Albania. So I've embraced it.
I finally managed to get rid of these two pesky Americans. And yeah, I'm going hiking in the Albania in Northwestern corridor. That's right up next to Kosovo. And I'm getting a ferry, three shuttle buses to a hotel there. Thought I'd book for a hotel. Click the Google link. Turns out I'm staying in Phat Chong in Thailand.
Oh, it's a nightmare.
Tell Marcus.
That's right. We're going to Naples. So I'm currently looking at the street view in the center of Naples to see if we can park a beautiful driving in a sea at Panda. As of two hours ago, no one had any clue where they're going. And now we're all going to three different countries. We're really sad about it.
We finally emerged from our restaurant after, like five hours. The rain finally let up. We started making our way back to the boat.
It is raining again.
Completely boring.
Why don't move.
Get to the boat.
Who didn't put the drawbridge down far enough?
Is this real life?
It's still raining, but the sky has made an appearance.
Where?
This is amazing.
Right over the castle wall too. That's beautiful. It was worth the rain for two days. Yeah.
Oh, happy night.
It's finally quit raining, so we're heading to Dinner. Back to it.
We're all in a great mood.
The same place that we ate lunch at yesterday. We've actually seen about 300 meters worth of Montenegro since we've been here. The past three days, we've walked from our boat to the grocery, to our favorite restaurant and to our favorite cafe, which are like all in the same place.
Mostly because it's raining. And those are close. And we know that they're good and they have WI Fi and good food.
And they're all cheap. So our boat is located right there. There's a little sidewalk that comes right down through here. Supermarket's there. The cafe is there. And our favorite restaurant is there. And this is literally all we've seen. But. But it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow and we're gonna hike to the top of this mountain. At least that's the plan. I have a good feeling everybody might end up just laying on the boat soaking the sunshine.
This is what happens when it rains for two days straight.
Keep up the good work, girls. In 3, 2, 1. Begin triceps dip. What kind of form is that?
What am I supposed to do?
I'm just kidding. You're doing a great job.
You're halfway because you don't have no one. Charlie, why is your plate smaller than everybody else's? Because I have no one to share my life with.
If you are anywhere near couture.
Is that where we are? Yeah.
A little bonnet.
Bonnet. I think I'm ready for the Albanian ounce. How cold is it supposed to be? Well, look ranges, Isn't it? Negative two to five. One day, two to eight. But unprepared. Hiker you've ever seen in Albania.
Picked up this jacket at the second hand shop for €8.
