It's another beautiful day, and today we're going to do one of our new favorite things.
We are going on a food tour. We're really excited because even though we explored a lot yesterday, we still don't know a ton of the history or anything about the food here. So we're excited to learn.
Are you Eva? Yes, I am. Hi, I'm Nate.
Hi, nice to meet you. Hi, Eva. How's it going?
We just got a little history lesson from our tour guide, Eva, and now we're going to our first stop.
Apparently they love their bread here with everything. So do I. And cheese.
That cheese we just had was a mixture of sheep and goat cheese. I hate goat cheese. But it was so good.
It was great.
We're having some chicken soup with semolina dumplings.
It's very good. It's a little cool outside, so eating hot soup is really nice. We also got some fresh bread and fresh 100% apple.
The soup was delicious. We are now leaving the old city, stepping out into the suburbs to find our next course.
This is honey with peppermint. I'm really not looking forward to this.
But you love honey.
Also made a sauce. We called it dragon.
Is it okay?
I don't think honey and pepper should be mixed together. He said he's good. He likes it so personal taste. That is, like really hot. My mouth is on fire right now.
So this is used for cold use. So for salads, dips, dressing.
Can you taste the pumpkin?
Okay, now I'm trying to roast it. This is cold pressed, so it hasn't been anything done to the seeds. Kind of like extra virgin olive.
Olive.
This is a roasted pumpkin seed oil. It smells much stronger.
Oh, that is much stronger. Yeah, it tastes nuttier.
It's nutty. I kind of love it.
It tastes good. Lavender.
I like the way it smells.
So this is. Yeah, it's very like a karst flavor.
Now I'm trying lavender liqueur.
Is it more sweet or more bitter? Oh, it's actually pretty good.
So normally.
We'Re trying a little mini version of it.
It's called kotiza.
This is kind of like a vegetarian kebab. And we all know I love keb.
It is really delicious.
This is the best sausage that I've had since we've been in Europe.
We just had a big meat and cheese platter, which is one of my favorite things right by the river. And we tried some craft beers. I actually liked them this time.
And now we're about to do one of my favorite things. Eat dessert. She told us that the person who started this ice cream shop used to be a lawyer, but she decided she wanted to make ice cream because it'd be a way better office. I got the walnut potita, which is the cake that we tried earlier, and chocolate with salt. They're both delicious.
Want this one?
Perfect. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, wow. This is great. I just got to make my very first coffee out of a really nice espresso maker.
Cheers.
Eva was such a great tour guide today. I'm really sad that it's ending.
I tried, I tried.
Everything was absolutely delicious. Before we go, is there anything you want to say to YouTube?
Yeah. You're all more than welcome to the yummy side of the Alps. So come and eat and drink like a local with a local.
Okay, one more question before we leave.
I'm scared.
What is the proper pronunciation of this?
Oh, my brand. Okay. Ljubljana.
Nyam.
So Ljubljana, like the city, like Ljubljana. And then niam, which basically means like yum.
So yeah.
But you can also say Ljubljana Jam. That works as well.
We've struggled with the name of the city, so we struggled with the name Even more fun. It's part of the fun. So I just wanted to make sure, like, even though we butchered it, you got it right before.
You did great.
You did great. We didn't want to give away all of Eva's secret spots and all of her knowledge, so you're just gonna have to come here and take the tour for yourself because it was awesome.
We finally figured out the local bikes, so we're taking them home.
We figured out the pour over this morning. Plastic cup coffee, filter spoon, fork coffee. That was the funniest looking dog I've ever seen.
This one tastes like mouthwash.
That's horrible.
Do I have to finish it?
Yes.
