LONDON TO MARRAKECH, MOROCCO | RYAN AIR

A short travel vlog by Nate and Kara Buchanan documenting their trip from London to Marrakech. They describe a stressful, last-minute departure from London, a loud/rowdy Ryanair flight, arrival and passport control in Morocco, discovering the local currency (dirhams), and being met and hosted by their Airbnb host Michael who took them on a night tour featuring Moroccan dishes (couscous, tagine) and local encounters.

It shouldn't have been, but this morning was very stressful. I'm sorry for the very long music montage leading up to us being here.
Right now, I've got in this terribly bad habit of planning things very last minute. I assumed it'd take us like an hour to get to the airport because why would it take any longer than that? Took over two hours to get to this airport. So, yeah, we've been rushing around. We had to catch a metro and get on a forever long bus ride.
And now we're finally here.
We had like two seconds in the lounge. We got to eat, which is good for our moods.
So now we're going to Morocco.
Yeah. Today we are flying to Marrakech here in like five minutes. And we'll show you a quick preview of the lounge on the way out.
I know you didn't get to see much of the lounge, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rest of this airport looks like a warehouse and the lounge was really nice. We final boarding call yet?
London really exceeded our expectations. Even though it was freezing, I liked it so much more than I thought we would. Do not infect your life jackets inside the cabin as to do so will impede your exit.
Thank you for flying Ryanair.
Hello, Morocco. It feels amazing here.
Currently waiting in line to get into the country.
Haven't done my research on visas or stamps. Pretty sure you don't need one. We got our number and we are officially stamped into the country.
All right, first things first. In a new country, figure out the money situation.
What is it called?
I don't know. Starts with a D.
Give me some Ds, see if it's on the bill. It's coming out right here. Nope, don't.
Durhams.
First impressions of Morocco. This building is huge and so cool looking and the guy at passport control was super friendly.
I will say the airplane ride on the way here was like one of the weirder airplane rides we've had this entire year. It was by far the loudest. Everybody was just like yelling the whole time up in the aisles, hanging out. The flight attendants were having to like fight past people.
It's very weird.
Maybe it's just a Friday afternoon, everybody was getting rowdy.
Or maybe it was. How the rest of our week is going to go in Morocco, I don't know.
Should be interesting. Now, the Airbnb that we're staying at is supposed to be sending somebody to come pick us up and take us because apparently this is one of those places like Stone Town where it's like, impossible to find the place that you're staying at. So we're hoping they're here to pick us up. That's us. That's Gary.
Home, sweetheart.
We just got to our room, and our Airbnb host already invited us to dinner. So we're going to walk about 20 minutes to a place that he said is super delicious, super cheap Moroccan food, so. Sounds right up our alley.
How do I look?
Good.
Ready for the desert?
Yeah. Sensitive. You need a picture together.
Tonight was crazy. Our memory card filled up on our camera, which was devastating, so we couldn't capture it all. So here's a little bit of a rundown on tonight. Our Airbnb host, Michael took us on the coolest tour of the Marrakesh ever showed up here.
And he was like, hey, want to go to dinner with everybody? We had an amazing meal.
Couscous with chicken. And it came in this pot, and it was steamy.
First ever tagine. Tagine. Tagine. It was delicious.
It had figs in it, his little noodles in it.
For dessert, we had slices with cinnamon, this caramel stuff. Flan. Flan.
Yeah. We thought our night was over. And he.
Next thing you know, we're talking to these guys who live in the desert and they've got the big head thing for tea.
So then I'm looking at all of his jewelry. I got to put on proper.
Person that lives in the desert with the head thing. Seriously was famous square that.
I don't remember what vibrant at like.
11Pm and that was our first three and a half hours in Morocco.
I think we're gonna like it here.
What a crazy night.
No rules. Everybody's just wandering around the tarmac.
Bus stops about halfway to the air.
No, this is for wedding.
It's for wedding.
Guinness book of world records. Largest necklace.
