We spent all morning at the pumpernickel bakery again, and now we are back at the kebab shop. I know today is looking a lot like yesterday's uneventful vlog, but I promise it's going to be more exciting as soon as we grab kebabs. We are heading to the Monkey Temple, which should be interesting.
My liquid lips go back.
I promise we're going to leave the courtyard today as soon as we finish our sandwiches.
We are actually leaving now. We're going to the Monkey Temple. That's like a 45 minute walk.
And I have just learned that there are some steps in this walk which I'm not excited about, considering I've been going up for two weeks.
See how it goes.
Pretty sure I just heard some thunder. I'm thinking like a 70 chance we're getting rained on.
That's not looking promising.
Sam says he knows where he's going.
Do you believe me? Don't believe him. I'm pretty sure we're on a street where no foreigner has ever been before.
But I will say I think the walk to the temple will be the most enjoyable part of the entire experience.
It's been pretty awesome. Think we're getting closer. Good job, Sam.
Turns out Sam did know where he was going. Almost there.
We just got to the Monkey Temple. We have to go up all of these stairs to get there. There's already, like a thousand monkeys down here at the bottom. And my feelings have really shifted about monkeys. I used to think they were really cute and fun, and I was excited when I got to see one, but now I'm like, halfway terrified. And they're just annoying. Like, they want to eat all your food, and I'm scared they're gonna, like, jump on me. And so I'm really not looking forward to this very much. Oh, there's one.
It was more fun before. We knew that they might have rabies. And if you get bit, you have to get a shot and go through the whole process. So.
Yeah.
But that said, they're fun to watch and fun to watch annoy other people. That car's not on the road.
So here we go.
I guess we just go straight up. I assume somebody will stop us to take money from us. Hurry, it's raining.
Oh, no.
There are a thousand monkeys. Thank you. We literally just walked in and it just started pouring. Where we go? There's a tarp up there.
They're chasing us.
We just got to the temple and now we're hanging out with 20 of our closest new friends. Underneath this blue tarp because it's pouring.
We're making a run to the next tarp while the rain floods.
The rain Showing no signs of stopping. Since we're already here, we decided to push through.
Kara, how do you feel about walking up a bunch of steps to see a temple?
I don't care. I'm getting flashbacks of hiking back to base camp, being behind Sam, who goes.
100 miles an hour. This is harder than Calabata.
Time to pay the tourist tax. How many? Just two.
Sam.
Sa.
Not to let me go. Moonlight.
Thoughts on the Monkey Temple?
It was better than I thought it would be. The monkeys didn't attack me.
Monkey temple. Which is not called the Monkey temple. It starts with an S. We just can't pronounce it. I was highly recommended if you're in Kathmandu.
Yeah. Back downstairs.
Namaste.
Come on. Through all kinds of room. You seem to be lost.
Our cab driver was lost. We've been wanting to try this restaurant. We saw the sign.
Going to get some coffee.
Don't move. Wait for it. Okay, you can go.
