Foreign.
We just got checked out of our hostel this morning. We are driving from Mostar to Dubrovnik. But first.
Thank you.
Thank you. Bye. Bye. We were thinking it was our lucky day as we strolled up here and saw a little cafe cocktail out the front. Wasn't today devastating.
McDonald's will have to do.
We left Nate here. We've lost Nate.
He disappeared.
So a high likelihood that he's either been taken by a Bosnian gang or he's just driven off and driven back to bloody degrad meat without us.
He was sick of us. Devastating Serious.
Where.
Here he is. The lost soldier.
Thank you.
It's a little stressful.
Show us your coffee, mate. We've already been devastated about it.
It's not even half full.
We may have drunk a bit of it. Serves you right for leaving us.
There was a road closed on our way out of the city so it took us a long time to find our way. We all have coffee now. Bit happier now.
We're pulled up to the diesel pump right now. So we're moving.
Kylie making friends as usual. Final thoughts on Mostar. It's a cute town. It's really cheap. But two days is plenty.
I think it's one of the first places we've been to where like the history is so recent that everybody is still very interested in talking about it.
The bullet holes on all of the.
Buildings were.
Very unique experience. I think I could have spent more time here.
And it's gorgeous.
This is the one lane road that Google Maps has decided to take us down for a good 100km to Dubrovnik from Bosnia. Really handy because it means we can really pick up speed and gain some time.
Just popping up a slip road.
The roads are getting even more exciting.
I got you something.
Thank you.
We've just had a minor freak out moment where we figured we're doing really well.
And there's the potential that we're going to drive across the water without a border crossing.
On this back road.
So we're really hoping that we don't have to turn all the way around and drive back down these terribly windy roads where Everybody goes like 80 miles an hour around all of the turns. I felt like we were going to die. At least 10 or 15 times in the past hour.
We have made it. And no line.
All right.
We have handed our passports to the man on the phone.
What's that?
This is not international.
Oh, it's not.
As we were afraid of. This is not an international border and we can't cross here. Charlie, how far is the other place.
Oh, not far.
Oh, good.
Ten minutes or so backwards.
And even though this is not an international border, he decided to take our passports into his little hut.
Come back. Charlie is going to get our passports back.
Because he was taking photos of them with his phone.
Now at least five minutes has elapsed.
Hope he doesn't get himself arrested in Bosnia or Croatia or wherever we are in this weird limbo.
Why is he still in there?
Charlie has all three passports in his hand, which is a good sign.
Oh, he's going back in.
Now. The guy just slammed the door and kept Charlie in the hut with him.
You look a bit nervous.
Why did he just close them in?
We've done nothing wrong. If nothing else, this will turn out to be a good story.
Grabbed me, pulled me back into the thing by the neck. I was like, yeah, what? Yeah, he's a, like, nasty guy.
Charlie's gonna tell you what went on.
Inside the little shack. It all got a little bit heated. Our passports. I got a little bit worried because they were taking photos of our passports and I didn't understand on their personal phone. Went in there, and I asked for the passports back. And then he just fiddled around with Google Maps for a long time. And I was saying, we don't need your Google Maps. I'd just like our passports back. And then he just kept fiddling and ignoring me. And then I grabbed the passports and I said, thank you for your help. We'll get out of here. But can you delete the photos that you have of our passports on your phone? He said, I don't have any photos. So then he showed me on his phone after another couple of minutes and then deleted them in front of me, probably into his deleted folder. Then I said, ah, thank you, and I'll take the passports. And he said, now, now, you have to wait 20 minutes. And I said, I don't understand. Why would we need to wait 20 minutes? We haven't even crossed the border. We're just going down to the international border. And he goes, well, now you've made me delete them. You need to wait 20 minutes.
Very strange. And then I went to leave and I said, thank you for your help, and just started to walk out. And then he grabbed me by the arm and the neck and, like, pulled me back in and slammed the door shut. Did you see that? Yeah, we saw that. Yeah. And then it was all on. And then he's, like, yelling in Croatian at me. And I think it was all a bit of a misunderstanding, really. Just had to wait there for a while for him to cool down.
Quite the exciting.
Yeah, it was quite hectic. I thought we were gonna get arrested, thrown into Croatian prison. He reckons that he's taking the photos for his supervisor. Which all sounds very strange because we didn't cross the border doing a U turn.
Number two.
I'm gonna stay very quiet in the car. Yes, officer.
Do you have our passports?
I don't like Croatia anymore.
What happened there? That was ridiculous.
Went much smoother than the first time. I went to hand the guy the passports out the window and he just was like, okay, keep going.
Which makes it all the weirder to the first corner.
Old mate probably just sent him the photos already. They knew we were coming.
We are officially in Croatia. Charlie has not been thrown in jail. We're going to Dubrovnik. Finally.
Thank you so much.
See you next year.
Sounds great.
No damages, no extra fees.
Beautiful.
How far away is our place?
12 minutes walk.
And we have a 12 minute walk to our new Airbnb.
I love it.
It's beautiful. Isn't it nice?
I think this is Kara and I's room.
King size bed.
What makes you think it's not my room?
I actually think you're sleeping on that couch in there with us. Jell and Marcus and sleep. Oh no, there's actually a trundle bed in here. We just got checked into our Airbnb on first impression. It seems fantastic. Now we're heading to the beach and hopefully to find some food because it's past 3 o', clock, none of us have eaten lunch and everybody's getting a little hangry.
Whoa. How'd you get by?
We are on our way back from the beach. The water was gorgeous. I got to take a nap.
As usual, the beach was very hard. Yeah.
We lay on the concrete and now we're going back to let Marcus and Jalen.
We'll be down. Marcus, what's up?
Welcome.
Nice to meet you as well.
How are you, buddy?
Great.
How are you feeling now, Kara?
Ready for coffee?
Been struggling, but I think we're about to turn the tide.
Our hostel was out of coffee this morning and it's tacky.
What time is it?
The hair, pasta, freckle going on a molecule.
