A first-person travel vlog transcript of a road journey from Nairobi to Kisumu, Kenya, by Nate and Kara Buchanan (with driver Martin). The vlog documents a 6–7 hour drive with pit stops (snacks, local grocery finds), observations of tea fields and wildlife (baboons, zebras), arrival at hosts Keith and Aaron in Kisumu, and plans to assist with medical clinics in nearby villages and take a boat ride on Lake Victoria to see hippos. The tone is informal and observational, interspersed with conversational remarks and B-roll narration.

What is that?
It is our first full day in Africa. We just got picked up from our hotel in Nairobi and we are driving about six or seven hours to Kasumi. This is Martin.
He's our awesome driver.
We're in his big fancy van and we are going to meet Nate's mom who comes to Kenya every summer to do medical clinics in the villages around Kisumu. Nate and I have zero medical experience, so we're just tagging along and we're gonna help where we can. We're gonna be traveling around the area for about two weeks. Those and at the end we're gonna do a safari.
We made a little pit stop for a snack and some drinks. Look how beautiful it is.
Nate got the local ginger soft drink.
It's pretty good.
Barn's whole bit.
Yeah, we love foreign grocery stores. This one's so fun. Tingly cheese and onions.
Everybody needs old tingly cheese and onions.
Going with the tingly.
Pit stops over. About to get back on the road for another four to six hours.
Back on the road.
It smells tingly.
This is sour cream and onion.
They call sour cream?
No.
So we have to be there by seven.
It's like.
On the road. On the road. On the road. Crossing the road.
Wow, they're so big. Oh, there's a baby.
There's a baby baboons.
Man, that one is huge.
Baby baboon.
They're mean. Aren't time?
Oh, yeah, those are me.
Keep this place.
Oh, hi.
What they're doing?
They are picking tea. See that now that is so fast. Yeah, so I mean, they're used and these guys are planting more tea there.
Get some tea.
Party break.
We stocked up on some carrots, some peas.
I thought t was bigger. No stopping for a bathroom break? Nope.
Just gotta aim in the hole. As far as you can see, is all tea fields. It is absolutely beautiful here.
How much longer do we have?
We have like maybe two hours.
Two more hours.
About to climb in the bed back.
And take a nap.
Everybody's asleep, so we're whispering. We got to Keith and Aaron's house at about 4 o' clock this afternoon and it's now 11:15.
Keith and Aaron are a couple from our hometown in Hendersonville, Tennessee. And they've lived here in Kisumu for two years. They were nice enough to let us stay at their house tonight. They have a really cute baby, so I've been playing with him. And then they made us a really good dinner.
Good job, Aaron. Which was fantastic. And they have organized for us bright and early tomorrow morning to get up and go on a boat ride around Lake Victoria to see hippos.
What?
And we're super excited, but we have to be up soon, so good night.
Oh, yeah, sorry. Today's vlog was, like, all B roll. All we did was ride the car all day and pick up a lot of random stuff off the side of the road.
And. Sorry that you probably can't hear anything we're saying.
K's got a subtitle. Because it'll only take, like, two hours.
So they were jumping from here.
And.
And I'm telling you, they messed up my. Messed inside my.
