Sam.
Today is our third day aboard the Delphine number three ship, and this trip's going by way too fast because it's our last full day and I'm really sad.
We started this morning off by flying the drone, which ended up being really fun because there were some local kids standing on the riverbank who, like, half of them really, I think, were entertained by the drone. The other half were completely terrified.
They were so cute. They were all giggling and running away.
So that was a lot of fun. Today is going to be different than any of our other days in the Amazon because we're not getting on a boat to go down a river and we're not going hiking through the jungle. This morning, we are going to a village to see how the local people live here.
We just got to a local village called Banti de Enero. And now we're walking around and Juan's going to show us how they live here. I've already seen a really cute kid and I'm really excited.
All the stuff coming from Nauta, the stuff from Nauta coming from Mikito. The stuff from Mikito is coming from Lima.
Okay, this is the time, the chance, where we have, my friends to interact with children in this community. Painted the Enero. You already know that was founded in 1977, right? And also this is a classroom. My friends, from first level until sixth level children, my friends normally help a lot to their parents when they are 6, 7, 8 years old. So that's why, my friends, in one classroom, we find different ages. Probably in first grade or second grade or third level, we will find children with 9 or 10 or 11 years old. Sometimes young people finish the high school when they have or when they are 25 or 26 years old. But the most important thing is, my friends, children are happy right now. Uno, dos, tres.
We just got to go in the school in this village, the kids were adorable. They sang us a song and then they all told us their name, how old they are and what they want to be when they grow up. There was a lot of soccer players, some teachers, some doctors. It was so cute. So glad we got to visit them. And we learned that Delphine visits 15 or 20 villages a year and they donate school supplies. So we got to give them their presents. And it just made me so happy. And we just got to go in a little shop where they make palm products. So the little fruit that grows on the palm trees, they make soap and oil. And I bought a little soap bar.
So fun.
This is piece of tree. This Is one piece of tree we call dog gaukano. Okay. Take about a couple of weeks to make one.
Take you about two years at that speed.
We said goodbye to the village and now we're going deeper into the reserve.
That's one of the nice, beautiful birds that we have here in the Amazon rainforest we call black neck hawk.
So we've been given the chance to swim in the Amazon River. So far since we've been here, we've seen Cayman alligators, massive snakes, piranhas. I've read about these little catfish that swim into your.
But who knows when I'll be back? So I'm gonna jump in for like two seconds just to say I've done it and I'm getting back out.
Yeah, I guess I'm gonna do it. Why not?
Oh, she's gonna do it with me. I thought I was gonna be the only one in the boat.
This is the fresh water. It's not salt water. Salt water help you to float, but this not gonna help you to float.
All right.
You gotta go get your noodle, Nate.
Well, who threw that? Over there.
No, no, no, no, no. No more.
How's it feel?
Lovely.
Cool, refreshing.
I'm scared I'm splashing too much and I'm attracting the piranhas.
Done it. I can say I've done it. Yes, exactly. And now it's time to get out. I can now say that I swim in the Amazon river. So I'm getting out cold. Cold is the least of my worries.
Didn't get eaten by anything. It was a success.
We just got back from our boat ride. Next on the agenda, since we got the room upgrade to the master suite, it came with a complimentary massage. So that's where I'm going.
Now.
That.
My massage was excellent. I think it's safe to say it's one of my favorite massage experiences. Oh, she turned on this noise maker and I seriously couldn't tell if it was birds chirping from the speaker or if they were actually chirping outside. But it was so relaxing. I loved it. Then we had all this free time to sit out on the deck and enjoy the pool.
And now we are jumping back on the dinghies for a sunset excursion in a nighttime so party.
You're going to attract a lot of insects because of the light. Is that what she said?
Next on the agenda, we are looking for cannons. We have some protective eyewear, kid. While we're cruising so bug doesn't go on our eyeball.
Oh, it's a glass.
The alligators ate the piranhas.
Sat.
