This is our first day in Mauritius. The plan was just to take it easy, get some work and travel planning done on our computers and go to the beach for a little while and not do anything. And because of that we were going to take the day off from vlogging because it wasn't going to be very exciting. We weren't going to have any content. And then this morning we were in a bikes, hence the helmet Kara's wearing. And the guy at the bike shop told us about this big freighter ship that has crashed into a reef. About an hour to an hour and a half bike ride down the road. How can you not go check that out? So it's like four in the afternoon. This will probably be a pretty short vlog. But it seemed interesting enough that we should turn the camera on for the rest of the day.
See if we can hold a camera and bike at the same time.
No problem.
What you doing, hot stuff? So we've been given very vague instructions on how to get to the shipwreck. Our Google Maps don't work here because we don't have service. Something about turning by the airport, taking a shortcut through a sugar cane field. Should be interesting.
I'll probably get us lost again. Carol will be mad. It's probably a bad idea. Whoa.
Well, we found the airport. Take a left by the fence. We're going off roading.
As much fun as it would have been to just ride straight through the puddle. We just washed clothes today.
I'm probably doing it again. We've come to a fork in the road so I'm consulting the dot on Google Maps.
I would assume that we just keep going left.
This is where we start it. That's where we're trying to get. We're trying to take this shortcut. Going pretty well so far. Think left. Yeah. I have no clue, but left on the map looked correct.
We are in the middle of nowhere on these bikes.
We just missed the emirates. A380 taking off.
So cool.
Bonjour.
How much are coconuts?
Coconut it have 25 and 35.
Which what? Depends.
Difference is big and small. This one 35.
Okay.
The small is 25.
Can we have two large coconuts?
Yes.
I give it.
Very nice. Thank you.
Oh, it's heavy.
Oh, that's good.
Do you mind to cut it open for me? Yes, yes. Thank you.
What country you live?
The u.s. us.
Thank you so much. Snack for the road.
Let's go.
Ready to continue? Yep. Now we're racing the clock. It gets dark at six.
There it is.
We Found.
Wasn'T quite as far as I thought it was.
We know nothing about this boat except for that it's huge, and it wrecked on this reef like, a month ago, and we just had to come see it. Actually, Nate really had to talk me into coming to see it. How cool is that?
Actually read a short article about it. It was coming from India on the way to Durban, South Africa, but I don't know how it ranked.
A guy at the bike shop was trying to tell us that they're trying to, like, crank it up. He was going like this. What do you do with this thing?
There's a helicopter.
Something is hanging from it.
Cool. If we find out any more information about the boat, I'll try to link it in the description below.
It's awesome. Totally worth the bike ride. We can probably ride that way for, like, 10 more minutes, and then we need to turn around so it doesn't get dark.
Okay, I could be completely wrong about this, but there's the boat that stuck. That boat has a line tied to it. That boat has a line tied to it. I think those are tugboats trying to pull it off the reef. Helicopter.
How do boats just crash like that these days?
I don't know. I have no clue why. If you're going to from India to South Africa, why you ever get this close to the island of Mauritius?
Maybe they fell asleep.
I'm sure there's, like, some nautical reasoning behind that, but it doesn't make sense to me. The sun sets in 55 minutes. It took us about an hour and 15 minutes to get here. I'm gonna put the camera away to go back so we can ride faster and get back before it gets dark.
That was awesome. Was that not the coolest?
Gives you an appreciation for how big airplanes are, and it does not seem like they should fly.
I will never get used to it. Every time I see one, I just so fascinated.
Made it back before it got dark.
So, like, a week ago, we did this thing called Bedtime Talk. Even though Nate said that's not what it was called.
It's never called Bedtime Talk.
And we asked you if you liked it and if it's something we should start doing. And we just want to thank you for your feedback. We read all your comments. We really appreciate y' all letting us know if you liked it or not.
We got a lot of mixed reviews. Some people were excited about it. Other people thought that we should keep it the way it was. In the end, I wasn't really excited about it. I don't think Kara was either. Anyway, we probably won't be doing any more bedtime talks unless we have something really important to say, but in the comments, several of you mentioned that you really like the idea of like knowing what we were doing in the future and where we were going next. And we already do that somewhere. We have an email list that I don't think we've ever announced publicly here on the blog, but we will link it below and we send out a Sunday summary every week that gives you like a wrap up of what we did the past week, highlights, maybe things that weren't included in the vlog. And then we also give a what's coming up next week so you can know what to expect on the vlog in the week ahead, along with some travel tips and other useful things.
So how do they sign up for.
Sunday Summer I said I put a link below. There's a link below. Also, once a month we send out an income report for how much money we're making off YouTube. Because I'm very entrepreneurial minded and curious about those types of things, I had trouble finding that information online. So we thought we would share that with the world since we already share the rest of our life here on the blog.
Also, bedtime talk was never going to replace the bloopers. Those will always be there, so don't worry.
Alright, so much for the short vlog today.
Hope you had as much fun as we did. I thought the black bread turned out great.
Yeah.
Thanks for going with me.
Time for grilled cheese.
That's not good.
Coming Riding off road with one hand is really dangerous.
