A first-person travel vlog by Nate Buchanan (with Kara Buchanan) documenting their transit from Rome to Lisbon. The chunk records arriving at the airport (~6:00 AM), visiting/assessing airport lounges (one with an espresso machine), boarding the last flight to Lisbon, arriving and taking the metro into the city, discovering Starbucks won't accept gift cards in Portugal, booking a short stay at the Passion Inn, and walking the city (not catching sunset). Notable micro-details: the hosts mention it feels about 90 degrees, a local ham sandwich cost about €3, and they still need lodging for two nights before friends (Kayla and Barrett) arrive.

It is about.
6Am Just made it through security here in Rome. Got about three hours of sleep on the plane, max. How'd you sleep?
Five hour, five and a half hour flights are too short to get any good sleep on. So now we're gonna go find a lounge.
Bummer. There we.
There you go.
You know, she's not feeling good as she's drinking water instead of coffee.
We're trying out the other lounge that was closed this morning because coffee machine was broken. And I think I'm ready for coffee.
Whoa. The lounge we were just in was rated basic on Lounge Buddy. This next lounge was rated fresh, so it should be better. Lounge buddy never last. They were pretty accurate.
Fresh.
I think that lounge was rated fresh for the awesome espresso maker. It had fresh ground coffee beans. Might be the first one of those I've ever seen in a lounge.
I haven't had coffee in two whole days.
Been so good.
She's not herself when she doesn't have coffee.
We are about to board our last flight to Lisbon, Sam.
We are officially in Portugal.
Once again, I have not booked us a place to stay tonight. So the plan is to jump on the metro, find a cafe with hopefully free wi fi somewhere in the middle of town and find a place to stay.
We only need a place to stay for tonight and tomorrow since Kayla and Barrett are coming then those are booked already.
So just gotta find a place to stay for two nights. It's the middle of the afternoon. We're both hungry anyway. I think this will work out a lot better than Zanzibar did.
Half the cards. Pretty painless. Try not to lose.
It's going well. Go, go, go.
How's that going for you? Can you insert it?
Try a different one.
What does it say?
Kara's ticket says it's invalid, so she's going to figure it out by herself because I'm trapped. Over here. Made it. What happened?
I don't know. She gave me a new receipt and a new card. She said do not swipe it. Just lay it. Let it turn green.
Travel tip for anybody that comes to Lisbon. Since you've been gone, I think we're here at the airport. It looks like we just need to take this reddish pink one right there.
We're gonna see if exiting goes as well as entering.
Hopefully it goes better.
Oh, look at that. Starbucks is in sight. We have made it into the city. First observation. It is hot. Like 90 degrees hot.
But it's beautiful.
We decided to go to Starbucks to figure out where we're gonna Stay tonight. I feel like going to Starbucks is kind of like going to McDonald's. There's like no culture in it. We have a gift card. That's what we need.
Turns out they don't take gift cards in Portugal. So much for that. I am pretty pumped about this sandwich though. Egg feta sp.
We were not successful in saving money at Starbucks, but we did get a place booked. Now we just have to find it. There's two metro stops. Hamida.
Worst sidewalk ever for rolling in. Bag.
Pretty though.
Hello, Is this the Passion Inn? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I'm Nate. I'm Diogo. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. That was the weirdest, longest check in process we've ever had. From like coming into the guy's office to getting here to our room. Took an hour at least. The place we're staying is like a mix between a hostel and an apartment complex. I don't know, that's kind of weird, but it'll do for two nights. It is now 7:55 and it's still so light outside. Our three hours of sleep are like really catching up with us. We were laying in bed. Honestly, I'm surprised we made it out. We're gonna go try to catch the sunset, get to know the city a little better and then we'll probably go back and pass.
Oh, we didn't find the sunset.
We heard about this hill that like you could go up and supposed to be able to see the whole city and we thought that'd be a good place for it. We didn't make it there in time.
I think we went.
But it was a nice walk. We needed to walk. Yes.
We've been flying for 24 hours.
So the place we booked is kind of like pretty far out of the city. But the one good thing about that is on the way back we passed. We could tell was a very local restaurant, sandwiches back there where we were walking towards the tourist place for like €8. This one was three. It's a ham sandwich. I don't know how long it's been since I've had it.
Is it good? What, €3 worth?
I'm not complaining. This is the first time in like a month that I've eaten meat. Had not been worried about whether or not it was made to sick.
She's concerned that the gate is gonna catch her bag. You made it.
See if Nate can make it through.
Mr. Big Talk.
Yep.
