Shopping for Knock-Offs on PETALING STREET in Chinatown | Kuala Lumpur

This is a conversational YouTube travel vlog by Nate Buchanan (with Kara) documenting a day in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown (Petaling Street). The vlog covers morning hotel activities and buffet breakfast, a street lion/dragon sighting, searching for and sampling local street food (Hainan/chicken rice, a local block-noodle dish with spicy/sweet sauces), stops for McDonald's local-flavor ice cream and beverages, and shopping on Petaling Street—notably browsing for sunglasses and knock-off clothing and accessories. The clip ends with a small purchase (a necklace) and returning to the hotel/lounge.

Chocolate brings joy.
In this restaurant, you can literally get any breakfast food you could ever imagine.
Naked cereal. Every morning.
I got baked macaroni and cheese and an omelette and hash browns and juice, coffee.
Cereal.
Cereal.
Well, that was exciting.
We were about to leave our hotel and then we heard a lot of banging going on downstairs. Turned out there were some dragons dancing around. Not sure what the eating the lettuce was all about, but I think it.
Was a symbol of having a fruitful year because the oranges were sprouting. Let's see.
Okay.
Obviously.
Well, we did the usual this morning. Got up, went to the buffet for breakfast, went hung out by the pool for a little while, went to the lounge, got a little snack, and now we're leaving the hotel.
It is a good thing we don't always stay in Hilton because we would get super fat.
We don't walk near as much because we don't leave the hotel as much. And we are eating constantly.
With that being said, we're gonna go find lunch in Chinatown.
Should we go?
We'll be back for you tomorrow. And we're back. This place is huge. I can't see the end in that direct.
Or that direction. No matter where we go in the world, there's always one thing that reminds us of home.
Thanks, Jack. There are literally thousands of sunglasses in this place. No, come on, come on, we gotta go eat first. Come on, we gotta eat. We are currently wandering the street in search of this red sign. We walked the street like seven times. Turns out it was on a side street, but we found it and Kara is very happy.
How do we get in there?
I don't know. Maybe you have to go in from the other side. We can't figure out how to get in the restaurant or if it even exists anymore. I believe.
Those red doors are where the restaurant should be. Both hungry. Still don't know where we're gonna eat. Since that place was closed, this is a recipe for disaster. Carrie, you doing okay?
Look, it says the original Hackney chicken rice. We went with the eat where the most people are eating strategy. The chicken rice that we had Singapore was fantastic. And this sign said it was the original chicken rice.
I had my heart set on noodles. So I'm gonna power through Nate eating his chicken rice, and then I'm gonna go get noodles.
Slightly offended by the utensil choice that was set down on our table. Thank you very much.
Now I'm feeling better about it. That was delicious.
I liked it too.
So much. For me eating here and you eating there, this is where Kara decided she wanted to eat at the dollar stand. We asked them what's most popular, which.
One is the best.
That sounds perfect.
That block of doughy stuff right there is the noodles and then they chop it up. Kara definitely went the more adventurous route with her lunch. No options to eat with porks here.
Wow.
Sweet one.
Spicy. And here, the salty one.
Thank you. This one first.
Good luck picking those up. Oh, nice. So good.
I can't tell what it tastes like. That sauce is really good. It is. I've never tasted anything like it.
What do the noodles taste like?
Noodles are really, like, slimy. I know that sounds gross.
But it's a good slimy. Ain't going spicy.
Wow.
Really spicy.
That is liquid fire. She almost did it. She weenied out on the noodles that were in the hot sauce.
Mouth is on fire.
That was good. Oh, thank you.
The spicy was hot.
Normally it's not. Ah, this is a hot sauce. Thank you very much. 4 Stock shopping. Heading to McDonald's to get some ice cream. I saw yesterday they have pineapple ice cream, which sounds way better than the sweet potato ice cream I had in Hong Kong. I'm going for the pineapple pop. Kara decided she needs an Oreo McFlurry.
Brennan, that's fine.
Did you change your mind?
Oh, yeah. I got a frappe instead.
The happiest I've seen Kara the whole tr. That's a Frappuccino and we're going shopping.
She's not any more excited, though.
Getting some new shades today.
So many authentic Ray Bans. They even come with a case.
A legit sticker. Surprise, surprise. More sunglasses.
Kind of looks like boys.
They're not authentic Ray Bans. They don't have the symbol on there.
Oh, my gosh. Can't get them together.
They even have real polo shirts here. Shoot. I was worried there wouldn't be any more for you. This would be that big open street we were walking down. Apparently there wasn't enough junk, so they added an extra aisle in the middle.
The street stalls are doubling right before our eyes.
Ready to go all the way to the very end before we turn back around. Are we done?
Oh, my gosh.
I was too indecisive. So I'm leaving empty handed.
That's what you call the curse of too many choices. We stood at that last sunglass place and looked at all of them for at least 20 minutes.
They're all so cute.
You.
How do you decide?
Went completely off course. No Ray Bans. But she did get a plain necklace.
I'm so excited.
My first purchase. You're satisfied or urged to buy something. So we're headed back to the hotel?
Last night for free dinner in the lounge.
