SINGAPORE TO HONG KONG | Amazing Airport Lounges!

A first-person travel vlog by Nate and Kara Buchanan documenting travel from Singapore to Hong Kong. This chunk covers airport lounge use in Singapore (emphasis on food and relaxing), the short flight and arrival in unexpectedly cold Hong Kong (they left cold clothes in Tokyo), choosing a cheaper bus to the city, and checking into a low-cost room/hotel. Tone is informal, humorous, and travel-focused.

Facetiming with our small group. Say hello.
Our first guest on the vlog. All right, I'm going to check us out.
Okay, bye.
Checking out room 932. Ninth day to the job. I'm excited about today. Nothing like breaking a good sweat before you go sit in the airport all day. When we originally walked through this little street, it looked like this. Now things are in full swing for Chinese New Year's and it looks like this.
Checking in. Thank you. Thank you. We are checked in for our flight and as usual, we are hurrying to the lounge so we can spend as much time there as possible.
Again, escalator, temporarily. Stairs. Sorry for the convenience and it's not that convenient.
This is like one of the most exciting I've seen. Care to eat on this entire trip? She's starving.
I love this lounge. This is round one of food.
Plate number two.
Flight number two for Tara. You would think that we had not eaten in the last 24 hours.
It is 2 o' clock and I haven't eaten all day.
We have a long four hour flight ahead. So we've got a carbo load and time to try all the desserts. Lots of mini pastries. They need to come. Clear some of these plates off. This is getting embarrassing.
Kara didn't want me to video this.
But she went back for more pasta.
Last plate.
Yeah, right. As usual, we stayed in the lounge too long and now we are rushing to our game.
They won't leave us back to it. Chasing Nate down to our gate. I'm gonna lose him. I ate way too too much for this.
Here we go.
How do you feel about this plane in comparison to Sabuka City?
I have like twice the legwork at. So we're off to a good.
Sam.
Whoa, baby.
Should have done a little research on the weather.
I didn't think through that one.
Hong Kong is cold.
Why do we leave our warm clothes in Tokyo?
We did not think this through.
Is that your warmest shirt? You know what? Everybody's putting on their sweatshirts because they're freezing. So we just came from burning hot Singapore.
Don't even need the signs. I came here like 2 months ago on my mileage run. I know where I'm going. Straight to the lounge. Such a weird feeling to land in a city across the world and be familiar with where you are. Oh, gummy worms. This is the greatest lounge ever.
No.
Chocolate.
Marshmallows, cookies. That looks fantastic.
Salad bar.
Aloe vera.
I'll let you try it first.
I'm gonna try the Ceylon tea.
I Think I'm gonna regret this. This is a much better place to sit in the airport and figure out how to get to our hotel than our normal standing in the middle of the airport, trying not to get people's way.
Okay, let me just rewind and fill you in really quick. We changed our travel schedule so that we could come to Hong Kong instead of Malaysia because Malaysia was too extensive during the Chinese New Year.
There's jelly chunks in my drink. So Hong Kong has been a new development in the last week. We failed to check the weather before we got here.
We step off the plane in my tank top and Birkenstocks and it's 50 degrees. I guess I'm buying a I Heart HK sweatshirt.
That's what the cheapest sweatshirt is. That's what you'll get.
Is this not the fanciest Doritos you've ever seen?
No meal is complete without dessert.
You eat a noodle at this point.
It's a bar, not a noodle.
Nate got aggressive with the cookies.
That was not.
There is an airport express that takes you directly to the city. But we're going to try to save some money and take a bus instead. Could get interesting. It is freezing here.
We didn't make a big deal about it on the vlog because our power was out that morning, so we had other things to worry about. But we left all of our cold clothes in Tokyo. Bus driver thinks he's Jeff Gordon over here. This could be a while. We are going all the way to stop 15.
Make me delicious.
It is 10 o' clock on a Tuesday night in Hong Kong and all these people are out the streets.
All right, time to go backpack mode. I know. Yeah.
Maybe this will keep me warmer.
I think we go in here.
Our camera's going to die sometime in this check in process.
The smell.
Oh, this elevator is so nice. Not quite the IBIS that we just finished staying at.
Unfortunately not.
Go, go, go. Oh, the paw me in this way. Reception at flat C on the eighth floor.
Are you serious?
This is what you get when you pay $30 a night for a hotel? I wouldn't consider this a hotel. More like a room in a building that we're paying for that was not on Airbnb. All right. Saving battery.
Thank you very much.
Okay, thank you.
Okay, bye. Bye. It's nice and hami.
So homey in here.
Do you stay in a capsule hotel?
This isn't bad. Oh, look how white our sheets are. No stains.
No stains.
There isn't a creepy bug on the floor.
No, we have a bathroom.
I haven't seen a lizard yet. This is great.
We have A.C. our standards have drastically changed.
Is there toilet paper?
It's like a commercial roll when they were run out. Yeah.
