A short YouTube travel vlog by Nate Buchanan (with Kara Buchanan) documenting their journey from Johannesburg to Mauritius. It covers airport lounge routines and a morning flight (boarding an Emirates A380), arrival/immigration interactions, a brief tour of an Airbnb near the beach in Blue Bay, and initial local impressions and flexible plans (possible kite surfing, canyoneering, two-night Airbnb booking while potentially staying two weeks).

It's.
We got some coffee. Now the vlog can officially start.
It is about 7am we are back in the Johannesburg airport in another lounge. The showers at our place last night were pretty gross. So Kara's showering here. Gonna jump in after her. And then we're flying off to Mauritius at 8:45.
Grabbed a quick shower. So coffee, breakfast in a lounge, and now we're boarding our flight.
Here we go.
That's us.
Every time Nate books a flight, he looks one on my window and one on the aisle windows.
And it works this way.
Sam.
We're in need to to welcome you and tell him to make you talk with him. Awesome.
In the two minutes I've been in Mauritius, the Mauritians are my favorite people in the world.
That was the nicest man we've ever met and he really helped us out. The guy at immigration was very concerned that we didn't know the address of the place we were staying. And let's just say he took care of it. Hello. Good. How are you? I'm Nate. This is Kara. Very easy luggage, huh? We travel light.
Welcome. Thank you.
Perfect.
Since our Airbnb rental went so well in Cape Town, we thought we would do it again in Mauritius. So this is our cute little front porch. We have a living room right there. This is our kitchen. This is our bedroom. That's the bathroom. But the best part of this place is the beach is like two steps that way. And that's where we're going.
Now, we've only rented this place for two days because we still really have no clue what our plans are in Mauritius. And we're talking to a lot of people about doing some cool stuff. Like there's some companies that do kite surfing and canyoneering and kayaking that are all interested in partnering with us. And we've even reached out to the tour tourism board here, who may be getting us a place to stay. We're not sure. Everything is still up in the air, so we booked two nights here so we can be flexible with whatever everybody else decides they want to do with us. Should be exciting.
Wow. It's an emirates a 380.
It's a bit windy here.
Mauritius, we got about 45 minutes till the sun sets. So we're gonna go on a little walk, not get hit by the gate, see what's around our hotel, maybe grab a bite to eat. We don't know. We have no clue what's here.
Our initial thoughts of Mauritius are it's pretty sweet so far.
Blue Bay, specifically because that's the only part we've seen.
We're just walking around in the circle around our little area by the beach and there's ice cream trucks even though they're just vanilla.
We hear Blue Bay is like the more low key residential area. And there's other more touristy areas that we'll probably check out later on because we're gonna be here for two weeks and it's really windy. Sorry if the audio is terrible.
What's today? Not Monday?
I don't think so.
We'll be back. So the pizza restaurant that was supposed to open at 6 is not open and it's 6:05.
We've just been sitting on their front.
Steps but a public bus just drove by and two ladies got off of it and walked into the restaurant and.
Laughed at us for sitting here.
So maybe it'll open soon. We don't know. We might go hungry tonight.
Good sign.
Yes.
Maybe we won't starve.
I didn't know they had made Picture Emergency.
So he's yawning in like two of our videos now.
Maybe we can just sleep instead of eat.
