A short YouTube travel vlog by Nate Buchanan (with Kara Buchanan) documenting a day in Singapore: visiting a hawker center to try local dishes (notably chicken rice and porridge), sampling desserts, wandering shopping areas and a supermarket sushi counter, having a picnic by the bay, and doing routine tasks like laundry. The style is informal and observational, with emphasis on food and casual sightseeing.

Should have put the coffee in first.
Once again, it's noon, and we are just now leaving the hotel to eat.
We are going to a hawker center, which is like a food court, but all the restaurants are like street vendors, so it's like a ton of local food all condensed into one awesome area.
We're going to the one across the street from our hotel because it looks just like the one I saw Anthony Bourdain eating at. When he was eating.
The man that we were sitting with told us where the best chicken rice is. So that's where we went. Chicken rice is like the national dish of Singapore, and we're finally eating it.
This is embarrassing.
I saw lots of people eating with.
Good stuff. I'm going back for more food. I'm getting that one.
Fried quay Tow quake. Fried dry Quay T. I'm in.
The nice old Asian man that sat beside me told me to go to this place for dessert. Looks gross, but the line is like a mile long, so I have to try it.
All of these people.
Are waiting for that.
Having it here. Yeah.
Thank you. Does not look good. And it's hot. I thought it was cold.
Porridge time.
Really hot.
Sweet. It doesn't have too much flavor.
Not bad.
It's really hot. It's hot.
Yeah. Yeah, I see that.
Kara, why'd you pick this drink?
The girl in front of me bought four of these, and I was having trouble deciding which one I wanted, so I got one too.
That's how we do things pretty much. Watch what people buy and see where the long lines are and head in that direction.
Rich invited me to see.
No preservatives.
All right.
So much for our cheap lunch at the hawker center. We just kept buying stuff. I was like, it's only.
We ended up only spending about US$10 total on all that food.
Find stuff that didn't even look good just to try it.
I'm taking Nate's porridge home for breakfast in the morning.
What are we doing right now?
We're gonna take a loop and then take the porridge back to the hotel, put in the fridge, and then see where we're going from there. Let's go.
I went the wrong way. Wrong way.
Didn't plan that. Outro Here.
She's shopping for the.
This isn't good.
Goes forever.
Are you having as much fun as me.
Me and you, buddy.
We just had another lazy afternoon in the hotel. We are going to eat again.
If it seems like all we've done is eat and walk around, you're right. That's all we did.
We're trying to find out where we're going.
According to Google Maps, it's a six minute walk. Things are looking promising.
This is a sushi counter inside of a supermarket at the basement of a reef retail store.
Basement one.
I think that's just raw fish. Oh, baby. Here we go. That's raw fish.
Getting closer.
Oh, yeah. This is looking like what I want for dinner.
Sure.
So this one.
This one.
Get some soy sauce. That's too many.
Having a sushi picnic by the bay.
Without the inflated price.
And since you've already watched us eat a lot today, we'll let you enjoy the view.
You're welcome.
Time for dessert. Mint chocolate chip ice cream on pink squirrel bread. Kara was a weenie. She got hers in a cup because.
She didn't want to cut the carbs.
So much better than the durian.
I haven't had dessert in so long.
None of the desserts in Asia are chocolate.
Going to do laundry. Both of these bags are filled with all of our dirty clothes and I'm wearing my hospital slippers.
I was going to try to fit both bags in the same washer, but Kara told me to do separate ones. I think she'd be mad if I stuffed them in there and they smell funny.
Kara, don't be mad. Only one was available. Karen never made me do the laundry at home. I don't know which one to choose.
Maybe hot and cold delicates. I've eliminated this one. Feel like they're mostly colors. Let's go with that.
Sat underwear.
Camera looks a little crooked.
I need my sunglasses. Ah. Over the river and through the woods to the sushi house we go.
Not participating in this.
I just saw Mindy Lahiri walk by.
There's things a lot of either our friends or people on TV who are other ethnicities. Is that the right word? Ethnicities?
What did you say?
Quit doing this thing.
Okay, that's the sperm shooting an arrow. That sperm is pole vaulting to an egg that's sitting on top of an ovulation pad. These sperm are kayaking and that one's swimming.
