The Cruise Ends In Barbados | 15 Day Repositioning Cruise

A first-person vlog-style transcript of Nate and Kara Buchanan finishing a 15-day transatlantic repositioning cruise and spending several days in Barbados. The speakers describe disembarking, navigating local transport (walking, local bus), arriving at a beachside Airbnb they booked through an affiliate link, and enjoying a local fish fry/restaurant experience including interactions with a waitress named Angela.

I love it here.
You would think after 15 days of being on the same ship, crossing the Atlantic Ocean that we would be ready to get off, get on dry land. But Today is day 15, and we are not ready, and they're kicking us off of our home, what feels like our home.
But we can't be too sad, because we are spending the next five days here in Barbados. After we get kicked off the boat, we are heading to a hotel that literally sits right on the beach. So we're gonna be spending the next five days at the beach. So I know it's hard to give up, but you can't be too sad.
I'm gonna be happy when we get to our Airbnb, but right now, I.
Don'T want to leave. She has a really hard time, like, letting go of a good thing, even if we're moving. Really good thing.
I'll survive. We have about an hour left on this boat, so we're gonna soak in our last few minutes at the pool before we leave to go to our.
Airbnb, maybe sneak one more meal in before we get off the boat.
We have to leave now.
No, we're on our own.
Oh, okay.
Thanks. It's official. We are off the boat. It is back to the real world. Time to go find the local bus.
Such a crybaby.
I'm excited. The cruise was comfortable and it was easy, and it's always hard to leave comfort, but there's usually more adventure to be found on the opposite side of comfort. I feel like that's a quote that I stole from somewhere, but it was deep inside my brain.
Way to go. Where do we get our stuff? They took our bags last night.
It seems like literally everybody else on the cruise booked their return flight through the cruise, and they're all getting, like, shuttled places, and nobody really knows what to do with the independence.
I think we were supposed to get off the ship a long time ago. Our bags are the only ones left. We just made it through custom now going find the bus.
Where you want to go? No, we just want to catch a bus. A local bus? No, no, local. Where you want to go? No, we're going to go catch a bus. So towards O to Maxwell Beach. Oh, it's very far from there. That's okay. We can walk.
Apparently the taxi drivers think it's too far.
Walk. Hello.
No, thank you.
We're going to get on the bus.
We made it through the taxi drivers, I think now to find the bus. They all said it was way too far to walk. To the bus, which could be true, but it also says, seems like a really good sales tactic. So we're gonna go see for ourselves. I could be totally wrong. We could end up getting attacked. Out.
No, no, we're good. Yeah, thanks.
That's nice. I don't think he's a taxi driver. I think he was just being nice.
A bus driver made me tired.
I will be the first one to admit that was not the easiest way to get here. Getting on the bus with all of our stuff may not have been the best decision. We're the last ones on, so we had to stand up. And it was everything I could do to hold my bag and, like, the camera and my phone to see where we were going and not just be, like, bumping into everybody on the bus.
About 30 minute bus ride. The good news is we only paid $1 a piece to get 30 minutes down the beach.
Was it only a dollar?
Yeah. So it was a long walk to the bus station and it was a pretty rough bus ride. The people were extremely nice, though. They were.
She offered to hold the camera or our bag.
Yeah, people have been super nice. I think we just have a short walk to our apartment and then we'll.
Be at the beach.
I think I see it. I'm going to say this is it. What do you think? Is that the name?
Wow.
Yes. I'm happy now. That is our Airbnb and this is the beach. It is literally on the sand on the beach.
And this beach is private. And this place is less than $50 a night.
But for us, it was free.
So we wanted to say a big thank you to everybody who has ever clicked on our Airbnb link. So when you click on our Airbnb link and you sign up for Airbnb for the first time, you get $40 off. So it's a bonus to you, but it's also a bonus to us. We get somewhere between 20 and $40 for everybody that signs up through our link. And we've now been able to cash in enough credit that our three nights at this Airbnb are totally free. Free. Yay. We just felt like we owed everybody.
A T. Thank you so much for your support.
If anybody else wants to sign up for Airbnb and get $40 off their first day, just create an account using the link in the description below and go somewhere.
I cannot get over the location of this Airbnb. It's just perfect. So we're gonna get settled into our Airbnb. We haven't even looked at it. Yet I just threw my backpack down, ran out to the beach. Then we're gonna go exploring.
We just talked to our Airbnb host and she told us for dinner we should walk to this place called Oyston's Fish Fry. Apparently has really good fish and it's only a 15 minute walk.
Wow.
Just wow. It's the only way I know how to describe that.
Oh, my gosh.
We found the fish market where they do the fish fry, but the sunset is still getting better and there's beer, so we're gonna go there first.
So there are so many restaurants over in this area, and they're all super lively with lots of people, and we do not know which one to choose. There was a little area where there are all these people. People, like, come to my restaurant, come to my restaurant, and that always overwhelms me, and I really don't like it when people do that. And we walked out to the road and found a place called Fred. Nobody harassed us and it had really good reviews on TripAdvisor. We just met Angela. I don't know where Fred is. She's super nice, so we ordered from her. And I'm so excited.
Our food just came out. We ordered the fish. It is so beautiful.
There you go.
Thank you. We got fish with rice and a salad and veggies and some fried planetang. And our waitress, Angela just brought us some spices for a top. Not sure what they are yet. She also told us the reason it took so long is because they don't start cooking until you order. So it's super duper fre.
Oh, my gosh.
It's so good.
I think she said it was blue marlin. It is seasoned perfectly. I now want to try all the sauces for it.
Ah. When she said this on the table, she said one of them was really spicy. Be careful. And I think that was it.
My lips are on fire.
I don't think I'm gonna be able to taste these other ones.
Just started pouring out of nowhere. So our sweet, sweet waitress helped us bring our food back under this awning. We weren't even really getting wet up there, but this is much more covered. We're nice and dry. Hopefully it stops before we have to walk.
Dinner was fantastic. If you're ever in Barbados, come to France. Meet Angela. She's amazing. But it's not raining right now, so we're gonna try to book it to the bus station and try to figure out which bus takes us home.
I think I'm just gonna, like, hide in the Jacuzzi.
No, we're going to.
We're going to the.
