Nate and Kara show how to do a Tim Tam slam, tour Taupo's geothermal spots, and review their rented Wicked campervan. They're heading to Nepal in three days to trek Everest and planning to dig a hot tub in the sand at a thermal beach.

Sam.
We typically don't vlog before I have coffee, but today's gonna be a little different. Everyone keeps asking us if we've done a Tim Tam slam. And in our six boxes of Tim Tams we've gone through so far, we haven't done one yet.
You got smoke weed? No.
That car just tried to sell us some weed.
Just trying to do a Tim Tam slam, lady. Where was I? Oh. So everyone keeps asking us if we've done a Tim Tam slam, so we're gonna try it this morning. We googled it and I think this is how you do it.
First, you get a cup of coffee. You open your new box of Tim Tams. If what we read on the Internet is correct, you bite off a small piece of each corner of the Tim Tam. That was a pretty large bite.
Now for the other. Yep. Then you bite off the opposite corner. Small bite this time. Kara, control yourself.
Then you stick one end of the Tim tam into the coffee and you suck through the other end until the coffee hits your tongue. Then you have three seconds to slam the Tim Tam into your mouth before it disintegrates everywhere. Gone forever.
He ain't quite. He didn't quite get it. Wow.
How was it? Besides messy.
That's pretty life changing.
I'm a new woman. It just like makes its home in your mouth.
As soon as it goes, it's just like, ah. It all just melts.
I have a new Netherland. Do you enjoy?
Yeah. I'm going to attempt to control myself a little bit more than Kara.
Small bite off of the corner.
Maybe that's why mine almost broke because so much of it was bit off.
Here we go.
Slam it.
Slam.
Swim it. Swim it.
You're good.
It is crazy, like how quickly it disappears in your mouth.
Our original plans when we came to Taupo was to do this awesome like 8 hour day hike. It was supposed to be one of the best day hikes in the world. But the weather wasn't really going to cooperate and I quickly realized that I hadn't done enough planning for an intense eight hour day hike. So we slept in a little too long for that. So instead, change of plans. We are going to the Hookah waterfall. According to Trip Advisor, it's the best thing to do here.
Here we go. Vlogging and driving.
That's dangerous.
This should get us in shape for Everest.
You like that one?
Don't think we packed enough food and water for this trek. We're not prepared.
We almost there. I'm tired.
This is gonna Be fun for two.
I still can't get over the fact that this fills up five Olympic pools every minute. And now we are heading to our favorite local authentic New Zealand restaurant.
Yes, we are currently sitting at the play place in McDonald's. Is this where I want to be while I'm in New Zealand? No, but it was the only charger that existed in this McDonald's. Our plane leaves for Nepal in three days, and we still haven't locked down all of our trekking details. So we are here planning our trek.
For Everest and vlogging.
Good news is the wi fi was good. So we were able to get two vlogs uploaded today, which was definitely unexpected.
Even though we would have rather been outside today, we got a lot done at McDonald's.
Super fun afternoon at the McDonald's Play Place.
All the nasty, coughing kids in the background.
We did get the majority of our documents that we needed submitted forever. So it was a very productive afternoon. Now we are heading an hour north to this town that starts with an R R Tar.
Feel like we should establish that. I feel like we are moving way too fast through the North Island. We need, like, twice the amount of time to do the north island right that we're doing it in. Unfortunately, we had to fly out for everest on the 29th, so we have to be back in Auckland on a certain day. Otherwise, we would love to spend more time in these awesome cities.
But.
What you got there, Nate?
Well, just a shovel.
You gonna kill me in my sleep tonight.
It comes with.
Are you that sick of me?
It comes with your entry fee into the campground. Like, forever ago. I saw in this show where two guys dug their own natural basically hot tub in the sand. And something that for some weird reason I've always wanted to do, and we're doing it tomorrow.
You're such a child at heart. So excited to build a hole in the sand monsters heated sandbox.
Since we've gotten our new van, this is the first night that we've gotten to a campsite when it's been light outside. So we thought we'd take this opportunity to show you where we've been living for the time first past few days. This is a wicked camper van. This is a company that I would highly not recommend. All their branding is very crude. We got a very tame version of the truck. The lady, her van. The lady inside the reservation desk just told me that a lot of campgrounds are starting to turn away wicked vans because they don't like the company so much because the writing on the side of the vans is getting so crude and apparently they're breaking down for a lot of people because she asked me if we had had any problems with with them. So this is not an endorsement for the wicker wicked camper van. We just wanted to show you around. This is the front of the wicked camper van. It is your standard old van front. Yes. This is how you do the heat there. Here, if you will recognize, there is no cruise control for all of your driving that you'll be doing through New Zealand, so don't count on that. My right leg is very sore from trying to maintain a normal kilometers per hour. Your radio here most definitely will not have an auxiliary plug, so you can't listen to any music except the radio stations that go in and out about every five minutes. So this is the front of the fantastic wicked camper van. Did I miss anything?
We got some. A spot where we've been putting our treats. This is where we put all of our junk and kept my purse and.
My tiny glove compartment. If you'll notice, there's a random sticker here that has serves no purpose and has not been cleaned or pulled off. And now I'm going to let Kara show you around the back of the van.
Here is our storage bed. There's these nice 1965 curtains. I actually kind of like the curtains. There's these mats that remind me of the gymnastics pads that I used to tumble on.
But really it hasn't been as bad as it looked. I will say the. The pads have been semi comfortable.
Yeah, they're okay. And easy to clean.
Here's where we keep our shoes and our chairs. This one. Oh, look at this nice chair. This chair is broken at the top.
And at the bottom, so you have to sit perfectly still.
That's been nice.
While you eat dinner. Oh, gosh. I just broke the curtain.
You broke it.
I did this earlier.
This is why we can't have nice things, Kara. This is why we're in a wicked camper van.
Oh, gosh.
It also came with the table.
I will say they did throw a table and chairs in for free, which was very nice of them. Thank you for the tables and chairs. Wicked camper vans.
Nice little table. It's nice and sturdy.
Kinda.
And here's where we have our three. Or no, here's where we have two of our bags. Nate's bag is in here. I don't know how to open it.
I've been storing my bag underneath our bed up there like that.
So when we drive around during the day, this is what it looks like. But at night, we take all of this stuff and we put it up here. So now it's all stuffed up here so we can put our sleeping bags out to go to bed. This week, we've been using our airplane.
Pillows as pillows because Wiki camper vans does not provide pillows or bedding.
Nate's been putting one of his packing cubes behind his neck.
That's my toiletry kit.
With surprisingly well. So this is what it looks like when we get ready to go to sleep. And now Nate's going to show you the back of the van.
Here in the back of the van is where we've been storing all of our food.
We have a sink here that we have no clue how it works. We haven't even tried. I think they're like, maybe you put fresh water in here. It seemed like a pain in the butt to clean and stuff. So we're not messing with that. Got some random dishes that they put in here. We've managed to use this pot to boil our water in the mornings pan. Just like they. They threw in, like 40 pieces of random silverware for some reason. But yeah, that's all.
Down in that hole.
All this is, yeah, just pretty much grocery storage. And this is my favorite, favorite thing that came with the van.
This is for real. He's not being sarcastic.
I've been very sarcastic for this entire video, but this is actually my favorite, and I like it. This is the portable stove that the van came with.
And it is actually incredibly easy to use.
Handy dandy.
All you have to do is turn this button right here. It comes on. And this is how we've been boiling all our water with our shaky pot. And thus concludes the tour of our wicked camper van. If you have any questions about why you should not rent a wicked camper van, feel free to comment below.
Just, like, seriously. I mean, if you're, like, really on a budget, you could rent a wicked camper van. But if this is like your one vacation a year, save some money and spend words on the Brits camper van that we were in last week. We should link that. Go for the Brits also before it gets dark. This campground that we're staying at is crazy.
This is our backyard. As you can see, lava we have from under the earth.
Geothermal activity happening within steps of our camper.
Look at that steam.
I seriously wonder if I stuck my finger in it, if it would just burn off.
Let's try it.
No, we're not gonna do it.
I'm gonna try it here.
You know, you literally might lose your finger.
Kara's gonna burn the tip of her finger off.
Just, like, at least, like, stick your finger hand over it to feel how hot it is first. Like eating a facial in rotten egg mist. That's good.
Rhetora is pretty stinky, but it's not that bad, right? Ready?
Yep. Just, like, the tiniest.
What's my least useful finger?
Your pinky.
I'm nervous.
What is my. What is my least useful finger?
All right, I'm doing it.
You know, sometimes things are so hot, it feels cold.
Yes.
I just wanted to make sure that wasn't happening. It's pretty hot. I'm gonna do it again.
Yeah.
It's, like, boiling hot.
Like, I can.
Like, it's hot boiling mud. Danger.
What?
This is crazy. Is literally boiling from the Earth's core. That is incredible. I wish I knew more. It's because the Earth's crust is really thin in this city because of the volcanoes.
Something with volcanoes.
It's literally just a boiling hole in the Earth. This is crazy.
Before it gets dark, we're going to check out the beach where we're supposed to be able to dig our hole for our own private hot tub tomorrow.
Oh, my gosh.
Whoa, baby.
It's so pretty.
Need to feel it.
Oh, it's warm. Yay.
This is good.
Look at this lake.
There is a random horse walking towards us.
Oh, my gosh. I was wondering what this poop was from.
I don't even need to dig. The lake is hot.
Ow. It's really hot under the sand.
I am completely blown away right now at this campsite. There's a random horse walking around on the beach. There's swans posing for all of my Instagrams. The sunset on the lake is the prettiest thing I've ever seen. And it's boiling. It's literally boiling. And we get to come soak in here tomorrow. And I'm so excited.
I'm just a little overwhelmed right now. It is fantastic. I cannot wait to dig a hole in the sand tomorrow morning. Sunrise. Tomorrow sunrise in the thermal pools. I think the sun's gonna come up, like, right over the lake. Maybe I'll talk her into it tonight.
I'm thinking like a lunchtime soda.
No.
We're trying to make a friend. Come here.
Cheerios.
Look.
Cheerios. Hey, now you gotta beat them out of your hand.
Oh, gosh.
Well, now you scared him away forever.
This seems more aggressive.
Hey, baby. Don't hurt the babies.
I've heard all about these flightless birds in New Zealand. I finally thought I found some and he flew away. Do you think I could scoop some out with our shovel and rub it on my skin?
No. I bet. Kara, have you made a new friend? You make it onto your Snapchat? Kara, did you read this sign before you went and touched the water?
Gate is locked at dusk. It's not locked yet.
Did you read any further down the sign? Danger. Do not cross this stream. Hot mud burns instantly.
I didn't cross it. I stuck my pinky in it and I was using my finger.
