We thought since we were already in Northern Norway, that traveling to the northernmost city in the world would be super simple. But we were wrong. First we took a late night three hour ferry south to Boden and tried to get a little sleep. There were no taxis at 2am so we had a nice scenic 15 minute walk with our bags to our hotel during a snowstorm. As miserable as this seems, it's times like these when I feel like a real travel. After a few more hours of sleep in our warm hotel bed, we drank a huge cup of coffee and headed to the airport. No lounge here, but there was a climbing wall. Our first flight was pretty ordinary, except for the fact that we got to see and feel sunshine for the very first time in three whole weeks. I had no idea how much my body needed this little boost. I also had no idea that an airplane could land in a snowstorm. We had a quick layover in Troms before boarding our final flight for the day, which was delayed because of technical difficulties. We were a tad bit nervous, but the flight took off just fine. 1 1/2 hours later, we finally arrived in the world's northernmost city of Longyearbyen, where we booked our hotel for tonight at Baggage club. This week is going to be awesome. See you tomorrow.
