WE FOUND THE FAIRYTALE LAND & trespassed a little bit | ICELAND TRAVEL VLOG

Day five of a family/friends Iceland travel vlog (Nate & Kara Buchanan with Kayla and Barrett). The group recounts seeing the northern lights at 2am, visits a reconstructed Viking house (declines $40 entry), drives across lava fields into a green valley of waterfalls where they picnic and hike, visits Gullfoss waterfall, and seeks a smaller blue "Milky Way"-looking waterfall. Tone is casual and enthusiastic, with adventure elements (gravel roads, trespassing/finding hidden trails).

What?
Today is already day five in Iceland with Kayla and Barrett. We all woke up still freaking out over last night, getting to see the northern lights at 2am so we're off.
To a little bit of a slow.
Start this morning, but we're at our first destination.
We have driven, like, an hour to what's supposed to be a reconstructed Viking house or, like, the first settlers here in Iceland, the traditional type of house that they lived in.
There's grass on the roofs.
The drive has been incredibly beautiful.
It's another warm, sunny day in Iceland, and I just can't get over how good this trip has been. Do not walk on the roof. I'd already had that thought.
Well, it was gonna be 40 ish dollars for all of us to go inside of, like, the one little house.
It would have been cool to see, but there's too many pretty free things in Iceland. I want to be cooped up in a Viking house. $40.
On to the next stop. There's other stuff to do around this area. We didn't drive all the way out here, like, just to see this house.
It was just the first added bonus. It's also lunchtime. I don't know if you can see.
My face jiggling, but I didn't know we were gonna have to drive through a lava field.
According to this review, we're gonna get to a gate that we have to get up and open.
Where are we trying to go right now?
A magical land of waterfalls.
Oh, look.
We're about to drop off into the valley.
But it's a little tricky to get to. This is our second gravel road.
Pretty sure we're going the.
You may enter.
This is feeling like the right way.
We found it.
We found the magical land.
The valley of waterfalls is right here.
We've chosen this as our picnic lunch spot overlooking the waterfalls, and then we're gonna hike into the valley after lunch. We also lost our one and only plastic utensil that we've been making sandwiches with. So we're improvising. What is that?
A cookie container?
With a cookie container, we gotta walk.
Off all the Doritos I just ate.
We're about to walk over to a viewpoint where we'll see the whole valley.
Wow.
This place is insane. We just drove, like, through the middle of this lava desert for, like, nothing. 20 minutes. There's nothing around. And then down below us is a green valley with, like, tons of waterfalls. It just comes out of nowhere.
I love Iceland.
Once Again, we've timed this adventure perfectly.
Everyone has just left and we have this waterfall all to ourselves.
This place is awesome. It's like a playground for big kids. Nice.
That was pretty magical.
Did we all get our boots wet? Yes.
Everybody but Kayla got water in our boots. It was worth it though.
Give a little ad for team boots.
You can't keep.
Very waterproof, right?
Not these ones.
Can't keep promoting stuff on the vlog. Follow pineco. Not for free at tbarrett sims on Twitter and Instagram.
We are back on the tourist trail. We just drove about an hour to a waterfall called Gullfoss. Hope you're not getting sick of waterfalls yet because Iceland has a plethora of them.
Definitely the wateriest waterfall we've seen.
That was cool. It got really warm coming back up all those steps. We have one more waterfall before driving an hour ish hour and a half back to Reykjavik where we're staying for.
The next four nights. No more moving around.
Another slightly adventurous drive.
This is the way Google Maps told us to go. And then once you take a left right here. Here.
This might be the end of the road here.
How far does it say?
So can he turn around here?
So this, I think this is where we park. From the parking space, follow the small track slightly downhill. Maybe right over there there are high bushes. You'll come to a barbed wire fence which is kind of broken. So just hop over that, cross the bridge, up a steep and very muddy slope, through some more bushes along a track until you get two poles to the left and you're there.
We're a bit lost. We're definitely in someone's yard right now, but we're just gonna go with it and hope that we find the trail. I don't think there is a trail.
This better be a bit of a hidden gem. We better not show up and there's a hundred other tourists.
Yeah.
You'Re doing it.
I think we go down this trail. Do you think that's which direction the map waves or do you think it goes that way?
This rest is part of the plan.
Good.
Can we find it? Cool.
Is it milky?
Oh, it is. So all I know about this waterfall.
Is that it's supposed to be the Milky Way waterfall.
That's not the real name, but that's.
Kind of what people call it because it's like blue and creamy looking. It's like glowing blue right here.
This is so cool.
Iceland is crazy.
Sam.
Slow mo.
Got that.
