Kara and Nate Buchanan lost four days of footage in Patagonia because they recorded without audio. They're switching to voiceover narration for upcoming vlogs and apologizing for the upload delays from hiking and editing backlog.

So right now, we are in Chile's version of Patagonia. Last video you saw, we were in Argentina's Patagonia, but we needed to pause and make this video to update you on a little something that happened.
So we really messed up. We went four days on our Patagonia trip without recording any audio.
Nothing.
We'd gotten really behind on editing. Hiking 12 hours a day will kind of take it out of you. So at night, we just come back and pass out.
I've been putting all the videos on my computer and then just going to bed and hadn't really looked at them, obviously, until we're on our bus from Argentina to Chile. Nate was sleeping.
I was peacefully sleeping in my chair. And I wake up to Kara in sheer panic and tears. Lots of tears.
It just. I didn't know what to do, and I just started freaking out. And, yeah, four of our most awesome vlogs that we would have ever made. And we're still gonna make.
Yeah.
Don't have any sound.
They're gonna be amazing. At some point, like mid trip, I had changed the setting in the camera accidentally to record a movie without sound. Why that setting exists in a camera is beyond me. But I changed our camera to that setting, and we didn't realize it because we were so far behind.
So I literally felt like the world was falling apart. I was very upset for the rest of the day. Just. It was terrible.
So we actually made this exact same video yesterday, like, right after this had happened.
Two days ago. And at the same time, we had sent out our weekly newsletter. So if you're not on our email list, you can do that. We'll link it below. And we were pretty negative about what happened in the newsletter, and I received this email from my mom, and it basically said, in the nicest mom way, quit whining. Your life is awesome.
So that really put things in perspective for us that losing audio for a few days was not completely the end of the world.
Yeah. And we had just gotten to go on this awesome trip to Patagonia, and we're super grateful for that. It's just really easy to lose perspective. Like, our world right now is this vlog, and it was like that had all come crashing down. Even though I realized there are much worse things that could happen in life than losing audio on a few videos.
There were lots of reasons we were upset, but the main one being where we weren't the only ones affected. The company that we were partnering with was also affected. However, there's a bright side.
Yeah, well, One before we move on. The Southern Explorations was like, really awesome about this.
So thank you, Justin, at Southern Explorations, for understanding.
The good news is we get to learn how to do a different style vlog. Instead of our normal hosting the vlog where we talk and kind of explain what we're doing as we go, we are going to voiceover, which some vloggers do that or some people on YouTube.
Do that and they make really good videos.
Yeah. So we're gonna give it a try and we just ask that you bear with us. Maybe you'll like it. Maybe we'll change our vlog.
Yes. So basically the ent point of this video was just to tell you that the next few vlogs are going to be a little different. I feel like there's something else I was supposed to say. Oh, I know. I just wanted to apologize for how slow the vlogs have been coming out the past few days. Yeah. Like we said, we've been hiking for like 10 and 12 hours a day. And then we come back and eat dinner and pass out and then try to work. Yeah. On vlogs and other times. And when we do get a vlog finished, it's taken us like multiple days to get one vlog uploaded.
So the maid at your hotel comes in and closes your computer when it's working.
This is supposed to be positive.
It's gonna be okay.
So, yeah, we apologize for the slow vlogs and thank you for bearing with us as we learn a new style of editing. I hope I was recording.
Oh, sure I was.
Alright, let's go eat.
