A trader had only four losing days in volatile August by switching to non-directional options strategies, cutting futures position size, and using gamma regime analysis to read market-maker positioning via GEX heatmaps. They show their verified Schwab account and offer a free bootcamp on gamma exposure.

Here's how I managed to have only four losing days in the month of August, despite the market being probably one of the choppiest in history. And before you ask, yes, this is a real account from a regulated broker, Charles Schwab. Let's update the page. It's still exactly the same. This is the track record. First of all, I know that historically August is one of the choppiest months of the year. As my scalping or intraday strategies on futures are mostly directional, I know it's not the best time of the year to trade. So I diversified my portfolio by also trading non-directional strategies with options. Second, I lowered the size on futures trading and only opted for mean reversion setups. Third, the most important part to understand if it's going to be a choppy session, I use gamma regime. If the total market maker gamma is very negative, it's likelier to have more directional sessions. Also here, bigger gamma, bigger direction. Some sessions started negative gamma and were directional, and as soon as they flipped to positive gamma, they started consolidating, strangled by these huge long gamma levels. The sessions where gamma was negative but not intensely negative were still super choppy, or super choppy session that only when gamma turns negative actually gives some directionality. And this is just one perspective gamma exposure data. But with a GEX heatmap like this one on DeepChart, you can also know the gamma walls that are gonna push and the ones that, if broken, will cause more directionality. And if you want to learn how gamma exposure works, we've done a free boot camp live on YouTube. And if you missed it, comment gamma, I'll send it over.
