Short excerpt from a YouTube video (Kardec Trader, "Do Indicators Really Work?") arguing that technical indicators do not forecast or predict price action because they lag price movement. The speaker recommends traders focus on market sentiment, order flow, and market structure to gain an edge, rather than relying on indicators.

I don't think indicators forecast price action. I don't think indicators can forecast price action because indicators move after price action moves, essentially. So there's no way an indicator can tell you what will happen or what is the probability of something happening. In my opinion, it just doesn't make sense because price action happens, the security moves, and then the indicator follows. So there's just no way to me where an indicator is a leading aspect of trading. It's not something that's. That will predict or give you an edge. Right. I think if you want to get an edge, you need to understand the market sentiment, you need to understand order flow, you need to understand the structure of the market, and you need to put those things together to basically understand where the market may possibly head.
