Speaker (SPEAKER A) questions whether people’s desires come from themselves or from societal expectations, urging self-understanding. The speaker explains a personal preference for autonomy (wanting to found and run their own company), rejects a 9-to-5 job as misaligned with their goals, and emphasizes comfort with risk and extreme work hours (e.g., "100 hours a week") as necessary to achieve their aims, while acknowledging that not everyone must or can take such risks.

A lot of people also don't know what they want. I think people in today's world, you really think about it, it's like whatever you want or whatever you think you want, where does that stem from? Does that really stem from you or does that stem from society? Where does that come from? Now, if it stems from you, you need to understand that about yourself. Like, for me personally, I like to do things on my own. When I say on my own, like I want to build, let's say, a company, I want to do it on my own. I don't want to be under someone else's vision. I want to have my own vision, which is why I can't do a 9 to 5. I don't want to work a 9 to 5. And it doesn't mean I hate it. It just doesn't mentally me and not something I want. I am comfortable on putting on risk. I'm comfortable in putting myself on the line and taking those, you know, massive risks or massive things that I need to do and put in 100 hours a week to achieve what I want. Now, some people do not want to take on the additional risk and maybe they can't. For whatever reason, that's fine. If you can't and you don't want to, then you don't have to.
